So it's fucking slow at work, and I have nothing to do. So it's Awards Predictions time!

Anton Razov (Playoffs MVP): Pedro Sarantez, Blizzard
This one's a hard one to guess on, and also assumes the winners of the playoff series. I'm thinking Edmonton gets in as they steamroll Seattle again in the WC Finals :( and Sarantez carries the team. Theo Kane is the obvious pick, but this is the year of Messier, not Gretzky.

Sarmad Khan (Regular Season MVP by League Vote): Theo Kane, Blizzard
This award has been whittled down a bit to only be the highest point scorer or the highest scoring defender. Kane broke a record this season, so there's not much debate about who the league will consider to bethe MVP.

Damian Littleton (Dedication Award): JayWhy, Rage
This is only because simmer usually wins. If the league wanted to deviate from the safe pick, they'd choose the guy that made the Universal Fantasy Scoring sheet, Alexis Metzler. But that won't happen. It's either JayWhy or Vliddy, and my bet is with the sim.

Joe McKeil (Best Coach): ThatDamnWalrus & Tomen, Stampede
First playoff appearance with a young team? Yeah, this one's a no brainer. Hamilton could have won it if they made the playoffs.

Lance Uppercut (Best GM): ThatDamnWalrus & Tomen, Stampede
There are plenty of candidates for this, but Buffalo is going to win for the same reason they won above. I'd choose Wally because he's making the Admirals into serious contenders for the future, and should be recognized.

Aidan Richan (Most Improved): Steven Stamkos Jr., Stampede
Stamkos Jr. was never a point per game player until this season and stands alone as the Most Improved Player of the season. Theo Kane was briefly touted as the candidate for this award until I realized we aren't going by season improvement, and Kane's 5 pt jump in career high isn't astonishing. Stamkos Jr. leading the Stanpede to the playoffs is.

Jeff Dar (Best Two-Way Forward): Chester Cunningham, Panthers
This is a useless award until we get a calc on GA/TA. Until then, we are forced to use TWF to be the guy that gets the most hits and shot blocks while scoring at a high rate. Kane already won awards, but Cunningham did his work while not being top scorer, so I'd say he's more defensive and more balanced. I hate everything about this prediction though, so don't put too much into it.

Ryan Jesster (Rookie OTY): Noctis Caelum, Chiefs
I know, not the Chief we thought would be here. He only reason I'm saying this is because Caelum put in extra work on defense Nova couldn't. Plus, I'm totally grading this off which rookie has the highest fantasy score, and Caelum wins that race.

Scott Stevens (Best Defender): Alonzo Garbanzo, Chiefs
Not even close. Again using the Fanstasy score metric to judge this, but even then, Garbanzo dominates as the leading defender of our time. Big Manipur is the only other person close in this race, and I don't think he has enough.

John McBride (Best Goaltender): Matt Lewis-Flood, Platoon
This is the one I think will be the closest to decide. Matt Lewis-Flood has the second best save percentage to Robert Andersson and MLF holds the lead on GAA, but McFadden took on way more shots and as a result lost some to goals and goals against. Laukkanen would be in the discussion if he played a full 44-game season. This one seems to be a toss-up, so the safe bet is the stats leader.

Ron Mexico (Regular Season MVP by Awards Committee): Theo Kane, Blizzard
Not really a bad choice. Awards Committee won't reject a record breaking season the MVP. Not much of a debate.

There's my hot takes. Excluded obvious awards because they're Pre-determined.

No way Kane wins most improved.

Supposed to be improved/breakout player. Kane is an established entity and doesn't really deserve it in my opinion.

Then if we're going by that, I'm saying Stamkos

Lets hope that the awards commitee doesnt use a team stat to decide goalie of the year.

You're only ahead by 0.1% in SV%, I'd argue that MLF has a more complete season even with the "team stat".

Yeah that's why we don't only look at the previous season's stats Tongue my previous career high was 67 so it's only a 5pt improvement. Stamkos, Reynolds, Dominique are my picks

What do you mean with the ""? GAA is 100% a team stat. Less shots=Lower GAA with the same save%.

Like, sure if i'd lose it to him, but if thats the reason then its dumb Smile seeing how there already is an award for lowest GAA

- Tomen - 03-11-2017

I doubt that the BUF GM tandem will win anything. Best GM should go towards the GM's that improved their team the most compared to previous seasons or kept their top position/roster. (Also should be only awarded to playoffs teams , same with best Coach)

Coach is debatable. BUF has the weakest roster out of any playoffs team but we are honestly only in the playoffs because the east is the weaker conference.

Randy randlemsn for Khan

But MLF is the only reason we are where we right now. If he doesn't perform like he does there's no way we win half those games.

You are talking to a goalie that had the most rookies in his team this year in Minny.... same rule applies.

- sarmo - 03-11-2017

If coach actually put me on PK this season, I'm sure I would have had way more than 10 blocks and looked better defensively <_<

Goalie stats were really bad this year. Seems like scoring was way up this sim year. No surprise the two goalies on the best teams in the weaker conference did the best. With that said MLF deserves it this year.

Pre-Congrats!

Your D corps also has like 3000 more total TPE than ours and allowed almost 300 shots less

Scoring was up by 0.07 per team this season from 2.86 in S32 to 2.93 in S33, which is still lower than S28-S30
