- ej27 - 10-20-2017 As a professional hockey player, you're either in the business of scoring goals or stopping them. But it's also important to set goals. Task Pick 4 stats and predict your player's end of regular season total for that stat. (For example, how many goals will your player score, how many assists, what will your faceoff % be, etc.) For 1 Capped TPE, just list 4 stats and your predictions. or For 3 TPE, write 150 words about your predictions. Why did you choose these particular stats/totals, what factors might affect these totals, etc Reward 1 TPE for doing the thing, or 3 for putting in a little effort. Only S37 SMJHL Rookies (S38 SHL Rookies) are eligible for this PT. Do NOT claim TPE for this task until a post has been made in the claim thread. Deadline 10/26/2017, 11:59pm est - GreyGooseVodka - 10-20-2017 <div align="center">Paddy Kane-Reilly ![]() Code: Goals: 10 Code: Assists: 25 Code: Face-off Percentage: 50% Code: Power Play Points: 15 I feel that the goals I set for my rookie season were reasonable. I decided to aim for 10 goals and 25 assists because that would be 35 points, and in 50 games I believe that is an excellent point-per-game ratio. 10 goals is reasonable as my scoring is my best offensive talent and 25 assists because I have been trying to improve my playmaking as I have a couple dynamic linemates in Dionýz VyskoÄ and BlÃ¥bär Bananerström would can put the puck in the net. My face-off is one of my worst stats, currently under 50%. I'd love for it to be higher but I get matched against other teams top centers, and those guys are usually 2nd or 3rd year players in the league. They have much more experience right now. 50% means I can win half of the draws I take and that will be good enough to help the team win. I pride myself on being a scorer and I love taking that talent to the powerplay. 15 powerplay points is a good benchmark for me. Here in Prince George we put a lot of emphasis on special teams to win games and I love having the space to help the team win on the powerplay. - AnujRadia - 10-20-2017 PT #4 - Setting Goals Goals Prediction: 8 Goals Games Played: 18 Current amount of goals: 2 I believe that my amount of goals will be at 8. If I do the math and my goals per game stays the same, I will have around 5-6 goals in S38. Though I believe that my goals per game will rise because I am training hard to work on gaining a stronger and more accurate shot. Assists Prediction: 10 Assists Games Played: 18 Current amount of assists: 3 I believe that my assists will be at 8 because I am learning how my teammates play and where they like to be during an offensive rush and because of this I will know where to look to find my teammate when I don’t have too much time to make a pass. If I know this then it will be easier to create better opportunities for my teammates to score. Shooting Percentage Prediction: 12% Games Played: 18 Current shooting percentage: 9.52% I believe that my shooting percentage by the end of the season will be at ~12% because I am still learning the weaknesses of the goalies in my league. Because of this I will know where to shoot resulting in a higher shooting percentage. Shots Prediction: 75 Shots Games Played: 18 Current amount of shots: 21 If I do the math, I will have around 58 shots by the end of the season. Though I am learning the weaknesses of the defence in this league and also new dekes to maneuver through them to obtain more shots. - Dude - 10-20-2017 From the start of the season I've had to adjust my expectations for my rookie season. Being a goal scoring defenseman that's only put up 2 shots in 18 games I hope to accomplish a few things. First I want to increase my P/20 from the current 0.23 to 0.35. I'm aiming to hit 15 assists, my first goal and hopefully a second, and a shot total of 15. To hit these apparently lofty (for me) goals I'll have to improve my stats. I've already improved my shot to 80 and don't intend to increase it any further so now I'm improving my puck handling to increase my chances of breaking out of the defensive zone, improve my possession in the offensive zone, all long enough to get my shot off. I intend to increase my defense next as I'm told it will help with my offensive numbers as well. Again my goal stats for the end of the season are: P/20 0.35 Goals 2 Assists 15 Shots 15 - Squeeze - 10-20-2017 Goals - 4 Assists - 10 +/- +3 Shots - 80 A quarter of the way through the season and, I've yet to find the back of the net. Once I get acclimated and, what not it shouldn't be an issue but, for now I don't foresee me being too much of a threat this season. I've been focusing more on passing and defense as to not be a liability but, I seem to have a bit knack for the former. If I can continue to improve and increase my minutes a bit then 10 assists could even be a bit low. Only time will tell of course. As for +/- and shots, that's just what its looking like if I continue to play how I have been. I'm hoping to improve and have a hotter second half of the season but, until then i'll keep my expectations low. It's my rookie season after all and, most people assume I went undrafted. Anything I produce is a step in the right direction. - ThisSeemsFishy - 10-20-2017 Kyler Gill ![]() STAT PREDICTION Goals: 13 I feel like 13 goals is a reachable number in my rookie year for the Firebirds. I get ample ice time which includes matchups against some 2nd and 3rd pairing defencemen.. Currently sitting at 4 goals I would only need 9 more to reach that number. Assists: 10 My passing isn’t nearly as good as my shooting is and with line mates who look to pass, rather than shoot, my assists won’t be as high. Currently at 4 assists, only another 6 seems likely. Plus/Minus: 8 The second line of the Prince George Firebirds is the best on our team in plus/minus. Currently sitting at a +4, it’s not ridiculous to say it could reach +8 by the end of the season. Powerplay Points: 4 The Firebirds Powerplay is the current number one in the league. Unfortunately we’re also in the bottom three in powerplay’s generated. I’ve only got 1 point so far and being on the second Powerplay unit doesn’t help my chances. - Samsung virtual assistant - 10-20-2017 Dick is not the most prominent player when it comes to the score sheet, however he is big in the physical area. These are my predictions for a couple of stats. Hits: 99. Dick has thrown the body 29 times in 17 games. As the season progresses he will become better in a lot of areas, one being the physical department. At this rate he will end up at roughly 85 hits, but as i said, he will become more physical. Goals: 9 Yes, i am probably aiming high, seeing how he only scored 2 so far, which would put him at about 6 goals. However scoring is the next thing he's going to focus on, so i'm positive. Assists: 7 Just like with scoring, the rate is 6 goals so far, but i think i might luck out with another pass or two. AMG: 15 min per game. As ive been demoted to the third line with only 15% playing time scheduled, i'm thinking my 18min per game will go down to about 15 or so before the season is over. This might ofcourse change as i progress, but as i'm not a skilled player offensively, i guess i might be stuck down there. - Brandon - 10-20-2017 Nico Grøss is a rather versatile player, and as such his final stat line for his rookie year I believe will reflect a balanced play style between skill, defensive responsibility, and physicality. Goals: 10 Assists: 10 +/-: +2 Hits: 115 Through the early part of the SMJHL season, Grøss has been a hitting machine and a nightmare on the forecheck for opposing defenders, and it's unlikely that this will drop off. Because of this, I see Grøss surpassing the 100 hit threshold by season's end, while also posting modest but respectable numbers in all of goals, assists, and +/- as he develops in a 3rd line role in Colorado. Grøss from a pure standpoint of raw skill set excels as a playmaker with a high degree of skill in the passing department, but the early season results have also shown the young winger to perform equally as efficient as a goal scorer, posting equal numbers thus far in both categories with 4 a piece for a total of 8 points in 18 games. - 12jmoritz - 10-20-2017 John Grossman Jr. ![]() Hits - 145 With 50 hits in only 17 games, I lead the league in hits by 2 with a game in hand to increase my total. The 50 hits I have now in such a short time means I'm throwing a little less than three hits a game on average, so 145 hits seems like an attainable total by the season's end. Penalty Minutes - 110 Another category that I am leading the league in, this time by 5 over a teammate who doesn't see nearly the ice time that I do, I am averaging slightly over a minor penalty a game, with 35 penalty minutes currently. I've also shown a willingness to drop the gloves with one fight, but I would expect my player to have more fights by the season's end. Couple in a few more fights with my current rate of penalty taking, and I wouldn't be surprised if I surpassed this easily by the time playoffs roll around. Assists - 20 While I am not much of a point producer, I am seeing a good bit of time on the second power play unit. While I only have one power play assist, I have six total up to this point. If the power play can get clicking or if I can get some more time as the season goes on, there's no reason for me to have close to the number above. Plus/Minus - 10 While this seems like a bit of a stretch, seeing how I am only +1 at this point in the season, it is very doable. I have been a solid plus or even in the majority of our last 7 or so games, which has brought me above 0. As I keep improving my defense and our young forwards continue to update their offensive stats, there's no reason that my +/- will regress or even stay stagnant. - Sami K - 10-20-2017 PT #4 - Patrick Triscuit Season 38 Predictions Goals Games Played: 9 Current amount of goals: 0 Goals Prediction: 6 My target is to get 6 goals by the end of the season I am sure my player can get over 5 at least and I believe I have not scored a goal yet because I am not getting enough ice time as I am being played on the 4th line I predict I will have a good week next week as my player just started to play I am positive my player can get a least 6 goals as the week goes on I will be gaining more TPE making my player perform better in the sim I feel 6 goals is a realistic prediction for my player as I perdict as the season goes on I will be moved up to the 3rd line Assists Games Played: 9 Current amount of assists: 1 Prediction: 14 Assists I believe my player can possibly achieve 14 assists as he already has 1 in his first week and I am predicting he will perform better as we go through the season as he is gaining more experience 2 big reasons why I think I could get 14 assists are. One because I think I will be moved up to the third line as my player starts to show his skill throughout the season and two because I will be adding TPE if he already has one assist this week I am predicting him to have 2 assists or more a week hopefully Points: Games Played: 9 Points: 1 Prediction: 20 I think I can reach my goal of getting 5+ goals and getting at least 10 assists easily however I think my player is also capable of going beyond my target of 10 assists and 5 goals which is why I predicted 6 goals and 14 assists for my player I believe he will possibly bring a tougher side to his game the upcoming weeks as he gained his first point yesterday I think he can reach a 20 point season with the way he is playing now +/-: Games Played: 9 Current: -1 Prediction: +10 I believe if I were to get a 20 point season with my perdition above of 14 assists and 6 goals I would have a plus minus of +10 as I am playing on the 4th line I think as I start to score and gain assists my GM will notice and move my player up to the 3rd line where I could play with better players so we will not be scored on as much when my player is on the ice. I believe this could happen half way through so when I reach 10 points I will be a +3 as I am predicting -7 on the 4th line with a total of 10 points on the line would be a +7 I am predicting only -3 on the 3rd line and a total of 10 points again totaling out to a end of +10 I think this could happen as I am playing with better players who can keep the puck out of our zone better then the 4th line well I am on the ice - Bayley - 10-20-2017 TJ Bayley has had a tough season so far in his 18 games playing. When looking at the rest of the season, let's take a look at some predictions for him. Goals: 5 Right now, TJ Bayley has no goals in 18 Games. On the second line, this is an absolute disappointment to anyone looking. He can skate, he can shoot, so why can't he score? This is the billion dollar question. It is believed that he will finally figure it out and score and once he does, he should figure out how to do it often. Plus/Minus: 3 Right now, he has definitely gone downhill even being on the ice. One area in which Bayley knows that he needs to work on is that of defense. He has done nothing but put all of his time and effort into that specific area. Therefore, I see it going up 6 points for the rest of the season to the positives. Shots Blocked: 7 Right now, he only has 2, but similarly to the reasoning above, I believe that Bayley will move into a bigger asset in the defensive zone. He was pretty much useless in the first games, but he will get a little better as he grows on the defensive side of the ice. Assists: 4 I think that his passing is definitely not what it needs to be and it will not get much better from here. I wish he could definitely get better, but I just do not see it happening. I think eventually it will get better, but he has some work to do. Quote:Words: 269 - kckolbe - 10-20-2017 Thus far, Hamilton is among the very worst players to have on the ice. His +/- of -11 is almost an impressive accomplishment, but that is a significant improvement from the -1 per game he started the season at. With his improvement, I expect he will finish at -25, giving up less as he closes the gap. One reason this will improve is points. Hamilton has 3 points over 18 games, the first not coming until game #38. Suffice to say he is a late bloomer. While I do expect improvement, I think it will be very minor, and have his season points pegged at 11. An area Hamilton has fared especially bad at is PIM. At 12 in only 18 games despite being the best skater on the ice. His low endurance seems to be the issue, his fatigue causing tired mistakes. That is being rapidly improved, so I am expecting a significant improvement, lowering to 28 minutes after 50 games. Finally, the most unexpected contribution is hits. Hamilton is averaging approximately one ht per 15 minutes, and I only see it improving as his endurance increases, though checking ability will likely stay as is. Therefore, I expect a modest improvement, finishing at 56 hits in 50 games. I tried to choose stats with larger sample sizes to increase accuracy, though points was too high profile to pass up. - Bobby Watson - 10-21-2017 Prediction for SMJHL S37 Goal : 6 Actually has : 1 It is hard to make accurate prediction since the start of the season, Bbby only made 1 goal. He was on fire to prove himself in the preseason but he probably burned himself. However, he will train his scoring ability, so his chance will probably get better. SB : 8 Actually has : 2 Bobby has a good defensive ability and he used to intercept some pass. He will probably continue in the same way he’s done before Hit : 36 Actually has : 18 Bobby isn’t a really physical player but he surprised a lot with his physical plays. If he continues like he did in the first part of the S37 season, he’ll do around 36 hit. For his lack of presence for goals and assist, Bobby isn’t half bad to go get the disk.< Shot : 75 Actually has : 34 Bobby Watson approximately shot 30-50 % of the time when he get the disk in the offensive zone. With his training in scoring, he hopes to transform more his number of shot into goal or rebound for his teammates to use. The number shouldn’t get lower than 75 in this season if Bobby doesn’t get hurt. - Mack - 10-21-2017 <div align="center"> ![]() Year End Predictions Dude Love joined the league after the draft and signed with the 2 time defending champion Whalers. The Whalers had a lot of defenseman already so Love was placed on the bottom pairing and is not currently playing on the power play or the penalty kill but that may change in the future. Although Love is not seeing much ice time at 15% of the 5 on 5 time and no special teams he is taking this as a year to grow so let's take a look at some stat predictions. GOALS: 1 Currently Dude Love has 0 goals through 19 games. Dude Love is more of a pass first player but that being said the Whalers just aren't scoring much as a team either. They are dead last with 39 goals for, the next lowest is 53 for Colorado. I don't expect many goals for Love but hopefully he can get the monkey off his back and score a goal. ASSISTS: 11 He has 4 assists in 19 games but is not being used in an offensive role. As mentioned the Whalers as a team are struggling to put the puck in the net. Hopefully Love just continues developing chemistry with whatever teammates will be left in Vancouver next season. PIM: 10 Love has showed strong discipline to stay out of the penalty box this year with only 1 minor penalty in 19 games. His limited ice time is helping in that regard but it's nice to see he isn't taking bad penalties as he adjusts to the SMJHL. I am not sure if he can keep this up all season but I expect to see him keep it low around 10 total for the year. MINUTES PER GAME: 15.00 Love is currently averaging 14.24 minutes a game for the struggling Whalers. 19 games into a 50 game schedule we expect to see some line juggling in the future which might see Love get a small increase in time but we expect nothing major and expect to see him finish the season around 15 minutes a game. This should be good preparation for a sophomore season next year where it's expected he will see more minutes in an increased role. </div> - WannabeFinn - 10-21-2017 Goals: 8 Through 20 games, Makela has 3 goals. He's on track for ~8 goals as long as his shot attempts don't fall off a cliff. The young defenseman has spent this season working on his offensive game but it's expected that his shooting ability will take some time to improve. He seems to be spending most of his time focusing on his defensive abilities and positioning. Assists: 19 Makela has 7 assists thus far, putting him on pace for 17-18 helpers. Makela is likely to trend upwards in scoring as he and his teammates develop. Additional scoring help acquired before the trade deadline could also contribute to a spike in assists for the young Finn. Hits: 55 With 20 hits in 20 games, Tatu Makela is a hit-per-game guy. He's not a hugely physical player, but he's learning to throw his weight around as his game matures and he gains strength. Down the stretch we'll see a more mature, experienced Makela pushing hard for the playoffs. Shots Blocked: 84 Makela has been an absolute force in regards to shot suppression this season with 29 blocked shots in 20 games, the best mark in the league. He's become an elite player in his own zone and seemingly the sky is the limit for his defensive prowess. The Falcons already don't allow many shots to get through to their goaltender, but being the most penalized team in the league means the Falcons are going to be spending a lot of time on the penalty kill. If the Falcons are to continue this trend, Makela is going to rack up tons of blocked shots in the process. |
