S33 - Top 25 Players Who Played Under 25 Minutes Per Game
When looking at the top scoring players in the league the trend we normally see is the players who play the most minutes usually score the most points. Simple math says that the more minutes you play the more points you'll score, that makes sense. Of course you still have to be a very high-level player to be among the top scorers in the league, couple that with extremely high minutes or playing on lines 1 and 3 at 50-60% of the ice time and that's usually where are top scores come from. If you look even deeper at recent top scorers they normally come from generally thinner rosters with less depth and competition for points. Naturally the high tpe players on these rosters will score a high % of the teams points while also taking majority of the shots. We see this with McZherl, etc. Less competition on your roster means more shots, more points, higher totals all around for a player especially when playing big minutes, that’s normally where we see our leading scorers and stat category leaders every year.
This article is not to discount those players who play tons of minutes and score tons of points or get the highest peripheral attribute totals, they’ve worked hard, they deserve it. This piece is more to give credit to those players who put up great performances while playing less than 25 minutes a game and in some cases less than 20.
What we see below is how many points certain players would have scored had they played 28 minutes per game and a total of 1400 minutes, which is where Kane, McZehrl, Hamilton, Koroviev and Garbanzo were at this season. The only 5 players to play over 1400 total minutes and over 28 minutes per game on the season.

Well there you have it, some performances really stand out, like Randleman ending up with more points than Kane if he played the same minutes. Also Chernika Banaanov putting up 59 points in just 19.32 minutes a game is pretty amazing. It's cool to see some under the radar players get some credit like Cameron Urbowicz, Tim Bucker and Dieter Dominique, those were all pretty impressive. I think Tommy Creller and Shane Gagner's performance was also pretty good considering they were both under 20 minutes and Creller was at 19. Not sure why that GM didn't play ol' Creller more. Stamkos Jr had a pretty great season when you look at he was on a 67 point pace if he played 28 minutes a game. It was also cool to see defenseman Ruutu at 57 points and Manius at 51, looking at Manius's 111 blocks was pretty crazy if he had played 28 minutes a game.
This was a fun piece to put together. I hope it doesn't result in everyone demanding they play 28 minutes a game now or else GM's are gonna be in trouble, especially me... oops.

i see through ur shit ESA
What he did was undermine his own coaching abilities. Because Esa did not play Randleman (or Pederson) enough, they did not perform up to their potential.
Randleman and Pederson should both be appalled and angry at this blatant lack of respect and ask for a trade
