S38 PT 3 - Team Chemistry

It seemed like the Colorado Mammoths was supposed to be a top team this year. Last year, the team finished 3rd overall and most of the veterans were back for one more year. Even 5th year players Wolf Von Hammersmark and Daedric Heikennin made a come back. So we must be doing well right? Oh boy, the team is in 6th place with 33 pts and barely hanging on for a playoff spot. As a new member and someone not really familiar with the sim engine it's pretty hard for me to explain. I mean sure we have 9 rookies but most are playing 3rd-4th line minutes. It would appear the blame has to go to our vets, especially our forwards. We have the lowest goals for of all playoffs team with 84, the second team being at 95. Our first line of Gross-Zajac-Bayley is doing really poorly, they barely have .5 PPG. We need them to do a lot better offensively if we want to have a good run, or should I say making the playoffs
The team has to thank their superstar goalie Aleksandr Aleksandrov for keeping the team in the playoff race. He's tied at #1 with a save percentage of 88.9% and has face the most shots of all goalies with 741. It's quite remarkable as the team has quite a young d-man squad. Colorado's playoffs hope rely a lot on if the veteran netminder can keep playing like that. But to be fair, the players have been helping defensively too and their play without the puck is one of the team's best strenght. Overall, it seems on paper it should have been a dominant team but something is clearly not working. Incite and Toe are great GMs but they don't also seem to get it too. Different lines combinason have been tried but nothing to give constant success. The team has never won 3 games in a row. They will look dominant one night and lose to Halifax the night after... An another thing to be concern with is Colorado had so far a pretty easy schedule. The 2 teams they played the most were non playoffs teams and they couldn't capitalise on that. The next few weeks will be harder and they will need to figure out a way to win games as visitors. Their current 5-8-3 record is just not good enough. ![]() ![]() Registered S45 Challenge Cup Champion
It feels great to be on the second best team in the league, even though some say we should be in first place. Throughout the first 31 games of the season, we have the top two scorers in Dionyz Vyskoc and Blabar Bananaerstrom at 17 and 15 goals apiece. WE have the player with the 2nd most assists in Paddy Kane-Rielly. We have the best Plus/Minus player in Anze Barbashev with a plus 16, and don’t forget the big defensemen, the 3rd most blocked shots belongs to Zemgus Nylander. Sadly the most penalty minutes belongs to John Grossman Jr., with 90, but on the plus side he also has the most hits with 106, a staggering 18 more hits than the second player on the list. Throughout all of this, lets still not forget about the man in between the posts, Tommy Tuck has been playing very well. He is 3rd in the league with save percentage at 0.884, 4th in goals against average with 2.82, and number one in the league with wins at 19. The Firebirds have been clicking on all cylinders and it will take a lot to knock them down. If they keep this pace up, they are already breathing down Detroit’s neck for the Number 1 spot in the league.

Kelowna Knights have been well so far. Going from last years position to now, we sit happily at 2nd most Regulation wins and as a team we are doing work in the regular season. 3rd most goals for but also sitting at 3rd most goals against. It shows that we can do well offensively but at times we are allowing a lot of goals to be scored on us. Kelowna is also above average throughout the league on Shots For, Shots Against Per Game, and PIM/GP, and Hits/GP.
Kelowna Knights have an even and strong lineup with all lines contributing to scoring. Unfortunately the centers aren't our best positions at the moment but we have wingers that definitely offset that disadvantage. The way that the season is progressing the Kelowna Knights will have a spot in the playoffs. Kelowna's rookies are also putting in work on the score sheet which is contributing to Kelowna's sudden success. Rookie Fenton Uriel slotting in as the #1 Centre and other Rookies taking over big minutes on Defence aswell Kelowna is proudly allowing the rookies to make a difference each and every game. Kelowna has a bright season and future ahead. If this season isn't the season we win then the future will make Kelowna even more dangerous. What do you still need to work on to make playoffs? Include at least 4 team stats. I feel like our team, the Kelowna Knights, have the potential to be first and win the cup. Lately, we have been losing some games but I believe in our team. We are a more offensive team like our Shots Against and Shots For are in the top 3 of the entire SMJHL which I think is incredible. Our Shots Against is at 24.16 which is 2 behind the leaders and number 1 team currently in the league, Detroit Falcons. Our Shots for however is 26.03 which is third behind Prince George Firebirds and Vancouver Whalers. Our weakest stat by far is 100% Faceoff % cuz holyyy, we at 7th place in that category. Beating the last place team at the moment by less than 1%. I don't think it's something to worry about right now, we can slowly increase it as we grow as a team. We are fourth in the league currently but I believe in our team. Going on to the last stat I will talk about, it's PowerPlay%. Even though we are currently 5/8 in the standings, we are very close to the 3rd and 4th teams losing to them by less than 0.20%. So it's not something to be stressed out about. Even though we dropped to 4th place, I still think we can perform well as we progress more and more into the season. <div align="right">Word Count: 234 ![]() ![]() Registered S26, S29, S32 Challenge Cup Champion and Baby Daddy
The Whalers season thus far has been riddled with "ups" and "downs". This isn't something the pre season champions had expected coming into the regular season, yet here we are. A wise man once said, "the only fear I have is the fear of being average" and average is the exact word most use to describe Vancouver's 31 games played so far.
Through those games, the Whalers have faced a record of 13 wins, 11 losses and 7 overtime losses. That equates to 33 points in 31 games, a percentage of .532. They say in hockey, .500 is the exact definition of average, but in terms of league standings, we sit at 7th of 8 teams. If the season ended right now, we wouldn't make playoffs and that is 100% not what pre season champions do... To back up my statement of averagness, the Whalers Power Play is currently 22.68%, 3rd in the league, not bad. Their Penalty kill however, 76.85%, 6th in the league bringing their PP+PK to a 99.53% value at 5h out of 8 teams, it may equate to 99.53% but... it is 100% average. Now let's discuss shots for/ against. The Whalers shots for are 26.06 at 2nd in league standing, shots against, a terrible 25.42 value which places them 6th in the league for said category. In total we see another average standing at 5th overall of 8 total teams in shots for/ against. To summarize, the Whalers are doing well in offensive categories and poor in defensive ones. We need to work on and focus on a defensive mind while maintaining our scoring and shots on goal. If we are able to do both, Vancouver can easily be a feared franchise in the near future. Although the Prince George Firebirds may be leading the league in scoring, with 107 goals scored, scoring is still something the team needs to work on. Most of the scoring is happening in the top line, with the second line contibuting sparcely. Having a good scoring 3rd and 2nd line will help this team progress in the playoffs. Another issue that Prince George has is penalty minutes, as they are currently amassing almost 10 per game, at 9.26 minutes per game. Even with that penalty issue, the team is second in penalty kill percentage with a 83.72% pk. Taking this many penalties can be very tiring for our penalty kill unit, and frustrating for the player in the box, and his teammates. Prince George is also leading the lead in shots per game, with 26.19 shots, about 1 shot per game above the league average. This is something that management has been looking at when studying line compositions, and is clearly an important stat for the team moving forward. More shots forced makes for a tired opposing goal tender, and makes that goalie more liable to make mistakes later on. This is also good for keeping our own goalie fresh as the puck is mostly in our opponents end.
