This can be graded!

Not sure if there is a dedicated section for this or if it just goes here.

I haven't done one of these in a while and thought why not.

Ask me anything about my player Wendolene Ramsbottom, my team Seattle, my articles about league history, GMing in sim leagues and any of my other projects like Legacy Score.

@notorioustig

How does it feel to have GMed championship teams in the three major sim leagues?

I honestly think it is among my biggest accomplishments in sim leagues. It was a major reason for going to try and GM in the SHL for me to make it a trifecta. I knew Joe had done it before but it is still a very exclusive club to be in. Being a GM can be difficult and I really enjoy the work that goes into it. Though admittedly in this league you hard carried me to the titles that we won, I don't think I added a ton to it. But it still meant a lot to me to make it happen.

Which of the two cups in your Seattle was your favourite?

I think the first one is always most special in any case. You have to enjoy it and just kind of get lost in it. I guess going into it I never expect it to happen. Playoffs are so random and so weird sometimes. But I do enjoy that feeling of seeing it unfold and my heart always races when we get close.

What's been your favourite part of Ramsbottom's career so far outside of the cups?

Honestly the career has been widely underwhelming. I have had some big moments of goals or points at the right moment but statistics wise it has been underwhelming. I guess the draft was a highlight. I don't get to be in a lot of drafts where I don't know where I will go and even though I felt I went later than I thought I would, it was still an exciting time. I am hopeful that I can still add some career highlights in my upcoming prime seasons now.

@Vulfzilla asked:

If you were a cup of piping hot water would you rather pour yourself into a cup noodle or some ezra oatmeal?

Hahaha. I mean I have to have some Ezra Oatmeal. Cause it is the GOATmeal. To be honest, I have not really ever had a cup noodle. And oatmeal I have at least had some before.

@Salming asked:

What are Ramsbottom's goals during rest of his career?

I do really hope that I can perform a bit better. My prime years are coming up and hopefully I can play in a better line and become a bigger member of the contributing part of our team to push us to another title or such. Ideally maybe get some more points and blocked shots and such. I think in an ideal dream world I would win an award of some kind one day, something that has yet to elude me in this league, so I am hopeful I can make this happen at some point with this career.

How do see roster of Great Britain and its chances on the upcoming IIHF tournaments? What kind of locker room culture you have?

Oh man. I must confess, I am not the most informed person when it comes to IIHF. I know that my player is likely on the roster and should hopefully contribute to our team, but I am not entirely sure how we stand in comparison or how good our chances are. The best I can do is make my player the best he can be and then it will be up to the rest of the team to also perform well.

@scudmuffin19 asked:

for JuOSu, this is the first I’ve heard of you being a GM in multiple sim leagues. Does your strategy remain the same between sports or do you have different approaches?

This is a great question actually. I think ultimately there are some differences and some similarities. The basic tendencies of how to be successful stay the same. You focus a lot on drafting and picking the right people for your team, you create a great environment for people to join the team and a sturdy war room. Cap management was always a strength of mine as well. I think where the differences come in is less the different sports and more so different rules in different leagues, like with cap or also how player careers happen. Obviously the sports make a difference too, like positionally. In the ISFL you really want max earners at key positions and fill the rest of the roster with lower TPE guys, while in the PBE higher TPE guys are needed in most positions in a way. Here the focus is definitely also more on high TPE guys especially in the higher lines.

@Toivo asked:

Some say defense wins championships, do you agree? Any philosophy to share for building a Challenge Cup winner?

Great question. I do think defense is a major factor in winning in any league, but especially here. I mean I made a defender for a reason and obviously goalies matter a lot too. Ultimately you do need to score though so offense is the best defense in a way. I think well rounded always makes a lot of sense.

@RashfordU asked:

What are the three interesting things / hobbies that you enjoy IRL?

I love board games and play them with friends a lot. Board games can be awesome and I highly recommend them! I also enjoy trivia nights and used to go to trivia nights once a week with friends before the pandemic hit. Now it's a bit harder to do. But they were some of my favorite things I did weekly. And I also always enjoy learning new things and new cultures. I have traveled a little bit and enjoy making friends all over the world in these sim leagues too.

@slothfacekilla asked:

Has anything surprised you about GMing in the SHL?

I think my biggest shock and biggest disagreement is still how GM players are handled. My opinion is and always will be that GMs are supposed to max earn. But apparently the thinking here strongly is that it doesn't matter and in some ways can even be beneficial for a GM not to max earn. I still think that is an outrageous claim to make and I will never agree with it. I think it's a poor excuse. And it's an opinion that had some strong negative reactions to it honestly.

If you could take one thing from another league and put it in the SHL, what would it be?

I really really enjoy the PBEs system of contracts. Specifically that contracts with multiple seasons add TPE to the minimum TPE per season. I.e. if you have 1000 TPE and sign a 3 year deal, your minimums will be for 1000, 1150 and 1300 TPE. I think that is a really cool way to simulate the increased TPE that a player can earn in that time. And also front loading deals means that there is a lot more strategy to contracts and cap management. I don't really like the new rule that exists here where deals auto adjust once you hit a certain TPE every season.
