Texas RenegadesTeam Awards
It is the end of another season for the Texas Renegades. It was a season full of success, as Texas finished fourth in the regular season standings with a record of 47-17-2. The Renegades then took on Minnesota in round 1, which ended up being an emotional 7 game series win for Texas after being down 3-1 in the series. That high of the comeback did not last too long though, as the rival Winnipeg Aurora were able to eliminate the Renegades in 6 games. Despite the exit sooner than they would have hoped, we still want to take some time to celebrate the individual accomplishments of several Texas Renegades. Please join us as we announce the Season 76 Texas Renegades team awards below!

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Sharpshooter" Award
(most goals this season)
In Texas, a sharpshooter is a name given to one who is quick with their pistols or highly skilled in shooting their weapon! We of course have a player who is highly skilled at shooting pucks with their stick and thus they are the Texas Renegades “Sharpshooter”.

Your Texas Renegade "Sharpshooter" this season is:
Mads McBride

The wily veteran followed up his 40 goal season for Texas in Season 75 with another spectacular showing in Season 76, as he paced all Renegades with 39 goals! Since joining Texas in Season 74, McBride has been a consistent force on the offensive side and it is clear that he makes everyone around him better as a result. For this award though, we encourage McBride to be a bit selfish and be proud of his team leading 39 goals to win the Sharpshooter award. Way to go, Mads!

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renegades The Texas Renegades "Wheel Horse" Award Renegades
(most assists this season)
In Texas, a right hand man or pal is known as a wheel horse! Given that this award is for most assists, I think we can all call that guy our right hand man!

Your Texas Renegades "Wheel Horse" this season is:
Marton Diehm

It was a career year for Marton Diehm, who finished with his career bests in assists and points while also tying his career best in goals. For our Wheel Horse award though, we want to acknowledge Diehm’s natural ability to dish the puck to open teammates and set up one timers for his boys on the blue line. Diehm was the definition of a “wheel man” this season and it looks like his arrow is only pointing up from here. Thanks for making us all look better, Marton!

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renegades The Texas Renegades "Ranahan" Award  Renegades
(most points this season)
Another name for the best cowboy or most experienced cowboy is Ranahan. Given that this award is going to the player who got the most points in a season, it’s fitting to call that person the top cowboy or “Ranahan”!

Your Texas Renegades "Ranahan" this season is:
Marton Diehm

No surprise here, as our Wheel Horse award winner is also our Ranahan award winner in Marton Diehm. As mentioned above, Diehm easily surpasses his career best in points as he finished with a Renegades best 91 points this season. He was all over the board this year, and Diehm proved that he can find the back of the net while also tallying his big share of assists. Diehm can certainly be considered the top cowboy in many ways this season!

—------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Fantobens Force" Award
(most hits this season)
Named after precious Joseph Fantobens, this award goes to the player with the most hits in a season. Joseph Fantobens was known for getting out there and crushing the body. For four straight seasons (S60-S63) Fantobens had over 300 hits a season. During those seasons he combined for a total of 1281 hits which is absolutely insane. To remember those bone crushing hits, we have named this award after him!

The Texas Renegade earning this seasons "Fantobens Force" award is:
Marton Diehm

Hold on, so Diehm not only paces the team in assists and points, but also in hits? That is right, Marton Diehm is your Fantobens Force award winner this season as he led the Renegades in hits with a solid 151 hits during the year. It is easy to get caught up in Diehm’s offensive skillset, but let us not forget just how much of a force he can be on the other end of the ice! Make sure to ice up this off-season, Diehm! And hopefully your opponents who were on the other end of these hits do the same.

—-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Puoli Pulverizer" Award
(most shots blocked)
Puolivalmiste played an integral part in Texas’s success. They organized and managed the team into a force and led them to two challenge cup victories, season 59 and season 62. Puoli is a very well respected user in the SHL and is an absolute wealth of knowledge. The “Puoli Pulverizer” Award goes to the player with the most shots blocked, a stat well loved by GMs and their players sacrifice the body to win the game!

The Texas Renegade earning the "Puoli Pulverizer" Award is:
Hodor!

Hodor!

The least surprising award winner there is, Hodor once again takes home the Puoli Pulverizer award in convincing fashion, finishing with an incredible 335 shots blocked on the year! It is mentioned year after year, but it is only a matter of time until this award is renamed to the Hodor! The ultimate team player, every Renegade is thankful for Hodor’s selflessness and putting his body on the line to ensure that the puck gets nowhere near the net. Although it is not a surprise he won this award, we certainly want to acknowledge the consistency and ability to block shots at an elite level. Hodor!

—---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texas Renegades "Buckaroo" Award  Renegades
(most underrated)
This is a new award starting in S70! Replacing the Texas “Varmint” award for most penalty minutes, we wanted to have an award for a player on the team who performed very well but also may have flown under the radar. Everyone loves a Buckaroo!

The Texas Renegades "Buckaroo" this season is:
Lasse Zeigler

After spending their first three seasons in Minnesota, Lasse Zeigler joined Texas for Season 76 and made an immediate impact both on and off the ice. On the ice, Zeigler enjoyed their career best season to date with 30 goals and 71 points to finish as one of the top forwards in Texas. That type of offensive production may not be talked about in the same way it is for players like McBride and Diehm, but Zeigler’s production was exactly what Texas was looking for in an acquisition of another forward, and Zeigler delivered. Off the ice, Zeigler was an awesome addition to our locker room as they always joined conversations and cheered on Texas each sim. That combination made Zeigler an easy choice for this years Buckaroo award. Congrats on a great season and thanks for being a great teammate, Lasse!

Renegades The Texas Renegades "Drag Rider" Award  Renegades
(top performing Goaltender)
This award is also the winner of the coolest award name. A Drag Rider is a cowboy who rides at the rear of the herd. Given that the goalie sits at the back, they are indeed the Texas Renegade “Drag Rider”.

The Texas Renegades "Drag Rider" this season is:
Anthony Dionne

No doubt here, right? Anthony Dionne has become the rock in Texas and he is counted on to win the toughest game on the schedule each and every season. This season was no different, as Dionne played in 54 games, finishing with a record 36-16-2. He also added on a 3.16 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. Ask anyone in Texas, and they will tell you they are lucky to have Dionne in net most nights. Another well deserved Drag Ride award, Anthony!

Renegades Renegades Renegades

That’s it for awards! This season certainly ended sooner than any of us would have liked but we are so proud of what we accomplished and what we have built here. We truly feel each and every season that we have as good of a shot as anyone to win the cup, and we do feel it is only a matter of time until we make that a reality. Until then, we will look to continue to build on our strong core and look to make any transactions that might further set us up for success. I am very proud to call these award winners and all other Renegades my teammates and friends!

TEX TEX TEX

Thanks for reading! And congratulations to all our amazing Renegades!
