Montreal Looks Towards Expansion Sponsorship
Trouble may be brewing in Montreal, say sources close to the management team and players there. With expansion looming and a short protection list available, Montreal is looking for ways to attract offseason talent as well as shore up sponsorship opportunities. With that in mind, the Patriotes have been rumored to be talking with the travel website Trivago to help with that, which has caused a rift inside the locker room. Affiliate player Captain Obvious, who has a high profile sponsorship with Hotels.com, is furious about the management team looking towards a competitor to the Hotels.com brand he is heavily involved in. “This feels like a gut punch.” said San Diego Tidal player and Montreal affiliate Captain Obvious when informed about the conflict of interest in the sponsorship that Patriotes management is seeking. “I put a ton of effort and work into helping my team save on travel and hotel expenses and this is how they repay me?” Montreal management did not respond to a request for comment but those inside, and outside, the organization wonder if this will cause a rift that may impact the addition, or exclusion, of winger Obvious with regards to the expansion protection list upcoming. We will continue following this story and provide updates as they become available. (220 words) ![]() SHL GM SHL GM
