TBB Late/Incorrect GM Task

Good evening SHL,

Following an investigation by HO, it was found that the Tampa Bay Barracuda incorrectly listed a player as a send down with being signed, resulting in the player playing in the SMJHL for S82 with no contract. As the task was not completed correctly, TBB was found in violation of II.B.3.e and HO has voted to enforce the related punishment.

Quote:II.B.3.e
General Managers must meet the deadline for Offseason Tasks, including but not limited to regression, budget, completing any required player movement in the portal, roster and lines. The deadline for offseason GM tasks is 11:59 AM Pacific time the Thursday following the SHL Draft (SHL Head Office reserves the right to push this deadline to a later time if necessary) Failure to meet this deadline will result in the following punishments:

Five Days late GM task punishment (Forfeiture of the team's next available third round draft pick, 2,000,000 fine to the coming season's salary cap, and forfeiture of GM and co-GM pay for that season.)

In accordance to the rule, TBB will forfeit their S83 3rd round pick, have a $2,000,000 cap fine applied to their S83 cap, and will forfeit all GM and coGM pay for the S82 season.

As always, TBB (@hockeyiscool and @EmoLeBron) may appeal this decision and can send an appeal request to any of the heads of the appeal committee, currently @DrunkenTeddy and @Leafs4ever. Any appeal should be filed within 48 hours of this punishment.

On behalf of HO,
Isa

Didn't know you could get punished for late GM tasks twice in one season

They were penalized earlier for playing a player without a contract and not a late GM task. These are two separate penalties and rule breaks.

That’s actually not true, when we processed the appeal it was changed to a missed GM task as written here.

Easy to miss in the chaos of all the appeals at the beginning of the season Smile

What the absolute hell, I thought we were told ho was going to check these after the last nonsense. Now we have a team already punished for late tasks allowed to go an entire season, not days, the entire fricken season.

Will head office take some damn responsibility, because at what point is shit like this only on them? What’s the excuse this time?

It was actually both late gm task and not signing Shawn Pawn (mentioned in the appeal post). Technically this punishment replaces the gm task part, which was a 2nd+half gm pay, but not signing Shawn Pawn would have also been punished by a forfeit 2nd, we left them combined because it didn't make sense to punish twice for one infraction. So technically you need to replace the 2nd+half pay with just a 2nd for not signing that player and then replace the half gm pay with this punishment.

I propose a simple solution. No more contracts. All players just play hockey for whatever team they want whenever they want. Want to switch teams mid game. Cool. Come my fellow hockey players. Throw off the constraints of contracts. Become on contractable.

Hey Krash - sorry for the confusion here, but HO still, as I've said many times, does not check team budgets. In this case, even if we *had* checked the team budget, the player was incorrectly listed as already having a contract on both Tampa's budget and the official budget in addition to being incorrectly listed as a send-down so I'm afraid that wouldn't have fixed anything. I am not sure what else you would have expected us to do here besides manually check every single contract AND the official budget ourselves.
