Deep Dive 2 - Citadelles Rookies Season Reviews
Yu Nishinoya - D Pick : 12OA TPE : 280 TPE Rank : 6th 4G 28A 32P 47TA 69BLK 133HIT Quebec City first pick Yu Nishinoya had an impressive rookie season. Taken in the first round, Nishinoya had high expectations and I would say he surpassed his expectations. He was great on both sides, scoring 32 points and having 69 shot blocks. He’s currently ranked 6th in TPE and I believe he will stay at the top. Quebec City got very lucky with Nishinoya falling at 12. This guy can be a top three pick in the SHL draft. Lurtz Makoare - G Pick : 32OA TPE : 272 TPE Rank : 19th 27-20-2 2SO 3.32GAA 0.87SV% The Citadelles picked a goalie in the 2nd round. Lurtz Makoare would end up being the starter for Quebec City. He’s fourth in wins and as a first year goalie, it’s not common. He’s the main reason why the Citadelles will be playing in the playoffs this year. He’s ranked 19th among TPE leaders so it was definitely a steal in the second for Quebec City. I expect Makoare to be the first goalie drafted in the SHL. Caline DeBine - F Pick : 42OA TPE : 272 TPE Rank : 20th 19G 28A 47P 168S 160H Quebec City had no third round pick but they decided to trade two future picks for the 42th pick and drafted Caline DeBine. It felt like DeBine could have slipped to the fourth round but the Citadelles didn’t want to take a risk and I would say they made the right choice. He has been a key player for Citadelles offense and will get better next season. He’s in the top 20 for TPE leaders. I believe he will go higher than 42 in the next draft. Alphonse Alakazam - D Pick : 53OA TPE : 252 TPE Rank : 50th 8G 24A 32P 56TA 51BLK 194HIT Alakazam was drafted with the Citadelles 4th pick. He also had a great rookie season just like his teammates. I would say his stats are a bit better than Nishinoya. I think these will make a great pair for Quebec City. Comparing his TPE earned and draft position, he’s fairly rated. I don’t expect him to be a high pick in the SHL draft. Bob Bergen Jr. - F Pick : 54OA TPE : 271 TPE Rank : 23th 15G 30A 45P 53.2FO% Here’s another draft steal! Bergen Jr was drafted right after Alakazam. I was shocked that the son of Bob Bergen would fall off to 54. He has been a great rookie center for Quebec City winning over 53% of his faceoffs and scoring 15 goals. I don’t think he will fall that far again in the next draft. Maybe the North Stars will pick him just like they did with his father. Cujo Pirelli - F Pick : 64OA TPE : 249 TPE Rank : 52th 13G 36A 49P +25 Cujo Pirelli was picked in the 6th round but he ended up being the best forward picked on this team. He currently plays on the second line and he fits well with the veterans. He’s a key playmaker for the team as he has 36 assists and a rating of +25. In terms of earning TPE, he did better than his draft position. Matthew Murdock - F UDFA TPE : 247 TPE Rank : 57th 19G 23A 42P 153S 185HIT Matthew Murdock has been absolutely the best rookie in Quebec City. He’s already a leader in the locker room and could be a future captain on this team. As a player, he’s been great. He can play both sides of the game as he scored 19 goals and had 185 hits. I’m really excited to see him being drafted! 616 Words ![]() Deep Dives Head Deep Dives CO
