Since entering the league Mikhail Loktionov has always been among the league leaders in his age group. Last season, Mikhail was playing a limited role on an absolutely stacked Firebirds team that ended up going on to the SMJHL finals and winning the Four Star Cup, because of that his role was obviously going to be limited, even in that limited role he still finished first in goals by a rookie with 10. finished second in assists by rookie forwards with 16 to go along with finishing 2nd in overall rookie scoring with 26 points.
This season Mikhail has only trended upwards and has more than doubled his pace from last season. Mikhail has scored 22 goals this season which is a 12 goal improvement from last season and has him tied for 3rd in goal scored. His playmaking ability has also seen a massive improvement as he currently sits in 5th for assists with 35 which is tied for fourth in the SMJHL. Overall, he's scored 57 points this season which has him in 4th place in scoring while playing less than two of the three players ahead of him. I expect Mikhail to continue to rapidly improve if he returns for a third SMJHL season next year. ![]() ![]() ![]() "“HA HA! THIS GAME WILL NEVER END! I POSSESS THE SOUL OF EVERY GOALIE ON TEAM B!! <div align="center">A Brief Overview of Brady McIntyre's Growth
Brady McIntyre (<a href='index.php?showuser=2895' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-67'>caltroit_red_flames</a>) was drafted 5th overall by the St. Louis Scarecrows in the S38 SMJHL Entry Draft. Being drafted so high in any draft, obviously places a great deal of expectations upon the shoulders of any player, but it most certainly cannot be argued that McIntyre has been living up to the aforementioned expectations, and then some, both in his rookie and current season. This PT will briefly analyze the statistics of McIntyre over these past two seasons and display just how much he has grown and succeeded as a player, thus far. In his rookie season (S38), McIntyre had a very impression season for a rookie. McIntyre (keep in me is a defenseman), scored six goals, earned fifteen assists, had a plus-minus rating of seven positive, and had thirty-six blocked shots on the season. These are all very impressive numbers for a rookie, when you consider the fact that the Scarecros weren’t even one of the best four teams or so in the league that season. Most of McIntyre’s production came from his own weight, as opposed to leaning on the support from teammates who are capped out in TPE and have been in the SMJHL for one to two seasons already. Where McIntyre truly shines is through his success this season, as he has taken his game to a whole different level, entirely. During the S39 season, McIntyre has increased his goal production by eight with fourteen goals on the season. Moreover, he has doubled his assist production, as he earned thirty assists this season; this shows how amazing of a playmaking defenseman he has grown into becoming this season (McIntyre also finished ninth in the entire league in points, which is super impressive as a defenseman). From a plus-minus perspective, McIntyre also improved, as his rating was a positive eleven, but to be fair, that might be somewhat of a product of the Scarecrows having the very best record in the league this SMJHL season. Last, but certainly not least, McIntyre increased the amount of shots he blocked significantly, blocking an additional nineteen shots, for a grand total of fifty-five shots blocked during the regular season. In conclusion, it’s quite evident that McIntyre has not only lived up to his early draft selection expectations, but that he has become one of the premier defensemen in the entire league. It should come as no surprise that he was drafted 4th overall by the Edmonton Blizzard in the S39 SHL Entry Draft, and it seems likely that he will be a cornerstone player for that franchise moving forward. In the history of the SMJHL we have had some great dudes. Plenty of people have passed through that one would think were really outstanding dudes. However, there has only been one so great, so humble, so abiding as to be referred to simply as The Dude.
The Dude was drafted twelfth overall by the St. Louis Scarecrows back in the season thirty seven SMJHL draft. He impressed his older teammates quickly by his sense of how to tie a room together with a good rug, his ability to drink White Russians seemingly all day without getting truly inebriated, his hockey abilities and most of all his abiding dudeness. He was slotted onto the third line and played eighteen minutes a game. That rookie year was, while decent for a rook, not up to his overall level of expectation. He managed to score one goal on the year to go along with eight assists. He dished out a meager seven hits and blocked thirty one shots. Two seasons later much has changed. The Dude has truly come into his own as one of the best defensemenn in the league. As a first liner the past year The Dude managed to rack up a truly impressive fourteen goals and twenty five assists. He added to this with forty one hits and a tremendous fifty six blocked shots. He accomplished all this in twenty one and a half minutes per contest. ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered Senior Member
Out of Vancouver, BC came a quick and smooth skating right winger in Kyler Gill. Where to even start. The kid has got it all. Gill had 32 points in his rookie season. With 13 goals and 19 assists that year, it was a fantastic start to what could be a storied career.
Fast forward to S39, Gill never slowed. Showing this year he has unparalleled playmaking ability with 36 apples. Not only can he dish them out, he can pot them as well. Along with those 36 assists, he potted 27 goals. Gill had a remarkable season in the SMJHL, where next year he is hoping to make the jump. You can almost hear the sigh of relief from the rest of the league when those words are uttered out of reporter's mouths and printed to the headlines around Vancouver. Few can stop the monster that is Gill on the ice. He's always been this good and will continue to get better because he simply works that hard. S39 playoffs are underway and Gill is looking for the cup before making the jump. While we don't know what's in store for Kyler Gill in the SHL, if history is any indication, the future looks bright. 206 words ![]() 3 time Four Star Cup Champion S40-S42 S43 Jesster Trophy Nominee Winner Scored my first SHL goal in just my second SHL game. 2.
