The Martian Federation of Hockey has confirmed that the Martian military is en route to Earth, targeting the continent of North America with "unspecified dangerous weapons". It is not clear what this phrase means or whether it has been accurately translated to English. What is known is that Mars is trying to take some SHL teams away from Earth to play all further seasons on Mars.
A ground invasion of Florida has been confirmed, expected to take place in the S56 draft. Tampa Bay has been specifically targeted in an attempt to forcibly remove the team from the SHL and relocate them to Mars. Former co-GM of New England @hotdog has been declared to be the GM of a new eastern team. The team is speculated to be so far east that it is in fact on Mars. Somehow. Maybe my solar system map isn't quite correct anymore. Or maybe it is on Earth and Mars has confirmed that they will take it away to Mars for its inaugural season. Whatever happens, Mars will start off with two confirmed hockey teams, and the SHL is in fact expanding to Mars. The Tampa Bay Barracuda are expected to be renamed to the Martian Humans. The name of the second team on Mars, of which hotdog will be the co-GM of, is still unknown. The location of either team on Mars has not been confirmed, but the Martian Humans are expected to play in the Hellas Planitia basin. The inaugural season of both teams on Mars is expected to be S57 on Earth if things go according to plan, the Martian military has confirmed. No schedule for the inaugural Martian season has been confirmed for S57. The calendar is still being planned out in an attempt to calibrate it to Earth time as closely as possible, with the Martian season being called "MS1" for Martian Season 1. Other sources have speculated that none of this is accurate and that HO is trying to actively stop this from happening. HO did not release a statement on the incoming Martian invasion. It has been confirmed that Mars will try to stop HO from stopping them, using lethal force if necessary.
