S74 SMJHL Mid-Season Power Rankings
#1
(This post was last modified: 12-17-2023, 12:44 PM by Jexter. Edited 1 time in total.)

With the S74 SMJHL season half way over for most of the teams in the SMJHL and we are back for another power ranking that is done is a very subjective and should not be taken very serious by anyone. That being said, I will be showing some stats of all the teams and various players and some of these statistics may not be favorable to look at for everyone. If you find a problem with this article, please DM HFFO.

1. Citadelles Quebec City Citadelles Citadelles

Record: 26-5-2, 54 points, 33 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 8-2
Preseason’s power rank: 7.
Last season's placement: 7.
The Owls have soared into first place in the SMJHL. We were hyped on the Citadelles as early as last season, seeing the immense youth and fantastic activity from the Quebec team. However, while we expected them to be better this year, we were not expecting them to supplant the Whalers as the big dogs of the SMJHL. Quebec has been able to fix the big problem that they had last season which was that they were giving up too many goals against. The draft and moved made in the off season seem to have fixed these issues, which we will delve deeper into with the players to watch section. Indeed, the success of the Citadelles has even surprised the players themselves. We managed to catch up with two second year players from the Owls, Juan Tymer and Celeste Desjardins. Juan Tymer said “[We were] expected to be a top team but is exceeding all expectations thanks to key new additions and another crop of stud rookies.” Desjardins added that this is despite the departure of Net Man. According to Will Tomlander of Detroit, this was a net loss. The name of the game for the Owls will be maintaining their performance as they go into the second half of the season and they are getting close to the point that the Whalers were at last year where anything other than a Cup will be seen as a disappoint, regardless of how well the regular season goes.
Players to Watch:
Jeff Hunziker is coming off a record setting season and now is continuing to put up fantastic numbers for the Owls. He still leads the league in goals scored with 27, though others have caught up. Jeff has a matching number of assists and totals 54 points which is good enough for second in the entire league and boasts a +23 (6th).
Rowan O'Beirne was traded for in the offseason and has been used to shore up the Owls' third line. However, despite being on the third line, O'Beirne has racked up the 4th most points on the team with 32, doing fantastic work on the power play and penalty kill. Rowan is a fantastic representation of the immense depth of the Owls and why they are so hard to defeat.
After an insanely impressive rookie stint, Celeste Desjardins has not exploded, but has put up exceptional numbers for the Owls with 33 points while playing on the top line.
The Solberg Twins have combined for 63 poindts this season, though it is Sonja, the lower draft pick, who is outscoring Frøya with 11 goals and 21 assists compared to Frøya's 21 goals and 10 assists and we were that close to greatness for the perfect mirror image at the halfway mark.
First overall pick Demir Bellona has been a positive grab for the Owls as they have helped in keeping the puck out of the net. The rookie hasn't been putting the puck in the net themselves, but 16 points for rookie is nothing to scoff at and Bellona boasts a +11. Watching this player develop could be very special not only into the later season, but also in future seasons.
Leo Roze currently has the best plus minus in the league with a +34. That is averaging over a +1 a game. Apparently the other team is not allowed to scored when Leo is on the ice.
The rookie goalies of the Citadelles are especially good with Luke Konecny and Song Ju-gong. Luke Konecny has only lost two games this season with 10 wins and a save percentage of .917, which is the second best in the league. Song Ju-gong has the fifth best percentage with a .905 and a record 16-3-2. These numbers are insanely impressive for rookies and just go to show how much more emphasis the Owls have put into keeping the puck out of their own net. These two rookies have helped Quebec get the best goal differential in the league with a +64.

2. Falcons Detroit Falcons Falcons

Record: 22-6-3, 47 points, 31 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 8-1-1
Preseason’s power rank: 9.
Last season's placement: 8.
The Detroit Falcons have shot into the covnersation of best teams this season with a maturing roster of active players. The Falcons are keeping pace with the Owls in the Standings and are in a relatively weaker 3 team division and based on the first half of the season, they should be in no immediate danger of losing the first round bye. Both Regina and Kelowna have struggled this year, leaving the Falcons as the main force to be reckoned with in the Net Man Division. Maybe a part of their success could be attributed to the presence of Kal Akar Kekkonen, a rookie who embodies the spirit of the SHL Commissioner. Have the Falcons been subject to favorable calls from the refs? Probably not, but this a solid enough transition into talking about the very effective power play of the Falcons. The Falcons boast a very effective power play, scoring on 28.3% of the 106 they have had. These 30 extra goals outweigh the 20 given up on penalties by the Falcons and has contributed to them having the second best goal differential in the league with +58, only 6 behind Quebec. Will Tomlander, (13G, 9A) when asked for comment said, “doing good, though seemingly can’t win at home.” Which is very true, the Falcons have struggled with the home games, somehow finding comfort on the road as they have never lost in regulation in other teams' barns (12-0-1).
Players to Watch:
Dunkler Sowerwine has the best plus minus on the Falcons with a +27 and has the highest Average Time on Ice with 21:54 and the most penalty minutes. With a 104 PDO, this defender has been putting in work for the Falcons.
The current assist leader in the league, Prince Marius, has the second best plus minus on his team and has 47 points, tied with Trevor Lahey for the most on the Falcons and good enough for 6th in the SMJHL. If Prince Marius' unselfish game continues, the Falcons will have a top line brimming with chemistry.
Luke Fromm is a rookie goalie who has not lost in regulation yet (7-0-1) and has the best save percentage in the league with an absurd .924. Some of this can be attributed to the fantastic defensive play by the Falcons, but this rookie has been able to strategically plan their game much like Nick Saban.

3.  Malamutes Yukon Malamutes Malamutes
Record: 21-9-2, 44 points, 32 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 7-2-1
Preseason’s power rank: 5.
Last season's placement: 10.
Sources from Yukon have stated that this year is the first one where they are looking to make grand strides as true competitors in the playoffs, even though the Malamutes have stumbled into the semifinals the past 4 seasons. We will get into it later when we talk about some of the other teams, but Yukon will have its work cut out for it as they sit in the most competitive division in the SMJHL. Unlike last year, Yukon will not have a guaranteed playoff berth and will need to fend off three other teams to keep their spot.
Players to Watch:
Langston Hardison Laurent has exploded from a just okay rookie season and is now leading the Yukon Malamutes in scoring. LHL has recorded multiple hattricks for the Malamutes and is in 3rd for goals scored in the league with 26 and has 46 points total. LHL has already scored more points this season than he did his entire previous season and will more than likely double the number of goals he had last season as well. The late first round pick for Winnipeg has managed to over perform even with a changing line.
Part of those changing lines, Squidwardo Tentacles has been moved around a little in the lineups for the Malamutes, but what has been consistent is the physical play of Squidwardo and their presence on the penalty kill as well as the power play has led to Squidwardo garnering the highest average time on ice of any forward. Tentacles is currently the only player to have 100 hits this season, with an aggressive and powerful playstyle that has freed up LHL. Tentacles is more known for using his brain off the ice, but it is nearly all brawn on the ice. Still, it is a far cry away from Florian Söderberg-Moltya's current style of plhysical play as they have the second most PIMs in the SMJHL at the moment.
Elly Snow-Leopard was a second round pick by the Malamutes and has ended up looking like a bit of steal with how active they are in the locker room and the point output on the ice. This cat is the queen of just sneaking into top tens right now, being 10th in plus minus with +20 and 10th in shooting percentage with 22.73%.
The new Captain Seppanen has 102 blocked shots and is fourth in the league, showing off the selflessness that led to them getting voted in by the team.
Peyton Mcbride, a rookie, currently has the best plus minus of their class and tied for the second best of the entire year with +27. Mcbride has been a great help in shoring up the massive hole left by Furious Chicken and is putting up solid points for a player on the third pairing.
Karter Mendenhall was a waiver pick up to get some help for Jim Wen in between the pipes, but Mendenhall has quickly stolen the show with their fantastic play, getting a record of 14-4-2 with a save percentage of .914 and the highest goals saved above expected in the entire league with 19.06.

4. Timber Maine Timber Timber

Record: 18-10-5, 41 points, 33 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 4-3-3
Preseason’s power rank: 1.
Last season's placement: 2.
Maine find themselves in the same division as major rival Yukon and are sitting pretty. Bear in mind that the Timber were roughly in this same position last year before they went on one of the most impressive runs in SMJHL history and ended up in second place int he regular season. As we know, this would eventually lead to them taking the title last season. As long as the Timber are in the playoff hunt, every other team should be wary of them. The Timber have also caught the nonregulation bug, going to over time plenty of times in the more recent games, leading to some tired legs from an extra period played (not between the sheets). However, it seems this Morning Wood isn't going down. The participation from the entire team has been very astounding as this is a team that no bot players.
Players to Watch:
Ace Guilded leads the Timber in points scored with 44 thanks to 33 assists. However, if Guilded can get their plus minus more on the positive side, it could be a very dangerous thing. Indeed the entire top line has struggled to keep the puck out of their own net with none of the top line being positive despite their point totals.
The first of the rookies we are going to look at is Edouard Lavoie, who is on pace for a 50 point rookie season and centers the third line made entirely of highly touted rookies. With a 54.5% in faceoffs, Edouard is helping greatly with depth scoring for Maine on a team that lacks the immense firepower they had last season.
The next rookie is naturally Mia Lavoie, the winger on the rookie third line who is on pace for 30 points, still producing on a crowded and deep team.
Jean-Jacques Francois Jacques-Jean, who may go by JJ Franky JJ and may be romantically entangled with Laurence Leboeuf, is the last rookie being looked at and the last of the trio that has been close knit in the Timber's draft class last year. Jacques-Jean has 31 points already and could very easily hit 60 points in his rookie season, making him a contender for rookie of the year.
Nelly Celly is the returning veteran netminder for the Timber and is off to a hot start in the season with a record of 12-4-4 and a save percetnage of .897 only allowing 2.84 goals on average. This is all very impressive in a high scoring league like the SMJHL.

5. Raptors Colorado Raptors Raptors
Record: 18-9-5, 41 points, 32 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 5-1-4
Preseason’s power rank: 13.
Last season's placement: 12.
In the biggest glow up of teams in this season is the Colorado Raptors. This is a team that failed to make playoffs last year (in part due to unlucky seeding in their division system) and now are among the top teams in the entire SMJHL. Refer back to our previous Deep Dive where we called the Raptors the most exciting team in the SMJHL and even we are blown away by how well the Raptors have done. If they can improve a bit and get a bit more puck luck, they could challenge the Owls and grab a first round bye in the playoffs. However, the problem is that the Citadelles are showing no sign of slowing down, meaning the Raptors will likely be lurking in the tall grass for whoever is unfortunate enough to draw them in the first round of the playoffs. Oranj Kohne has said that the season has been “pretty good” and we agree, however they have started a worrying trend of not being able to win their games in regulation as they have 4 overtime losses in the past 10 games.
Players to Watch:
Andrade La Sombra and Pinli Switchbang are two draft picks from the S74 SMJHL Entry Draft who have been immediate positive impacts on the Raptors lineup. La Sombra has been plugging away as a solid third line player, while Switchbang has been under more scrutiny as a second line center. Both have put up similar numbers to each other, but La Sombra has been doing a better job locking down defensively in terms of plus minus.
Shadow Fenix quietly had a very good rookie outing last season and this year has been teeing off with plenty of shots, leading the league with 139 which has led to 44 points, 22 of those being goals. Fenix also now leads his entire draft class in career junior goals with 54 and is second in points, dueling Desjardins for both of these spots. Fenix also leads the league in shorthanded goals with an impressive 7.
The Legion of Boom or the three players known as Leonard Wood, Juusi Mutou and Xavier Beausoleil are the three big hitters for the Raptors that sit 5th, 6th and 7th in hitting totals this season. These three are also doing plenty of work in getting the puck in the net, but they are playing that wonderful old style of rock'em sock'em hockey that is a treat to watch and grueling to be in the middle of.

6.  Armada Anchorage Armada Armada

Record: 18-14-1, 37 points, 33 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 6-4
Preseason’s power rank: 2.
Last season's placement: 3.
The Armada has sunk quite a bit in the standings from last season. Now they find themselves fighting for a playoff spot in the EOTTIRD Division, which means it will be far from smooth sailing. With the close margins of victory in the Armada games means that really are a lot of coin flips interms of games. The Armada are fighting to stay afloat (above .500), but they need to stay ahead of the Kraken, a mythical sea beast known to drag ships to the watery depths of the sea. But really, the Armada are only 7 points back from the lead in the EOTTIRD so they have plenty of time to make a run for a first round bye.
Players to Watch:
Joseph Reed has the most points out of any player in the SMJHL this season with 56 points, just edging out Deep Thought and Jeff Hunziker. However, plenty of goals against have been scored against Reed and his line considering that Reed only has a +16.
Deep Thought is only a half step behind Joseph Reed in the standings for points and that includes in assists and goals (its not as if one has a lot of assists and fewer goals, no they are literally within one of each other in both categories). Now that is not a bad thing at all as the two helping the Armada from hacing to worry about getting into the lifeboats. Deep is going to have to work with Reed to continue making a great example for the rest of the Armada to follow.
Benny Hanna is the last member of that top line with Deep Thought and Joseph Reed, but has 22 less points than Deep Thought. If the Armada want to jump in the standings, Hanna or the more depth players will need to start burying the puck more. A quick shoutout to ANCBOT3 which has gotten 13 points this season, more than a lot of other bots in the league and working to help build the depth in the Armada.
Stun Gun has fallen off from their insane stats of last season, but still has a positive win record. If the Armada wants to get into the playoffs, the Gun(s) will need to sink any idea of others scoring points and minding his net like the best fisherman in the juniors.

7.  Whalers Vancouver Whalers Whalers

Record:17-14-3, 37 points, 34 Games Played
Last Ten Games:
Preseason’s power rank: 3.
Last season's placement: 1.
Vancouver’s come down from the highs of last season has not been as tumultuous as one may have expected since the departure of many key assets, but the Whalers have kept on harpooning. While this more muted success may feel like a step down from last year, it should not considering how poor their performance could have been. However, the Whalers have been able to get enough out of their returning players and later round rookies to keep above every other team in their division and are possibly looking at another first round bye should the standings stay the same. Even though the Whalers find themselves in the four team Addition Subtraction Multiplication Division, the other 3 teams are well below them in the standings. The Whalers need to work to revuild the depth they had last season that led to their domination as they are a bit top heavy at this time. I will say this, while scoring is down for the Whalers this season compared to last, the Whalers score pretty darn often when they do shoot. 4 Whalers are in the top 10 for shooting percentage in the league.
Players to Watch:
Lily Jin Morrow is a one of the top scorers in the league with 27 goals being tied with Hunziker for first in goals and fourth in total points with 51. With these coming off of 112 shots and a shooting percentage of 24.11% (also in the top ten for both of these stats in the league), Morrow will need to keep these numbers up as the Whalers continue to build up their young players and get them ready for the playoffs. Morrow has also been a key part of Vancouver's effective powerplay with a league leading 11 power play goals.
Colt Fox and Nick Larsson are Morrow's linemates and have learned that the secret to success for their line is the give and go. Give the puck to Morrow and everyone else can go to hell. Still the two have built up respectable point total thanks to those assists, however, they and Morrow need to work on neutralizing the scoring capabilities of the other teams' top lines as they are suffering from pretty low plus minuses with how well they are scoring.
Groaty Bronson leads the Whalers in Penalty Minutes, which we can all agree is the best and most important stat line out there. However, while sitting by themself, Bronson has also gotten the best plus minus on the Whalers, maybe because the goals are going in while they are in box, but still. Bronson will either need more PIMs or be able to help teach their teammates how to keep themselves positive, both mentally and statistically.
Max Hammer has been getting hammered by shots as he leads the team in shots blocked with 91. Hammer will need to keep limping away from games if the Whalers want to hold their position.
Joulu Kuusi has been in the net as the primary goalie for the Whalers and has a very impressive .903 save percentage. Kuusi will either need to carry on winning games or get some help in the tandem.

8. Berserkers  Newfoundland Berserkers   Berserkers

Record: 19-13-0, 38 points, 32 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 6-4
Preseason’s power rank: 10.
Last season's placement: 6.
The Berserkers were close to a Four Star Cup if it were not for the Maine Timber being the hottest team in the Juniors. Now, Newfoundland finds itself in the unfortunate position of being forced into a rebuild due to the aging out of their veterans. Newfoundland does not have a lot to worry about however, as they are guaranteed a playoff spot in their three team division and can take their time with their new players to get them comfortable and build towards either a post season run or next season. With the divisions being as they are, there is near no pressure on the Berserkers even as they sit well above .500.
Players to Watch:
Sabage Cabage has gotten the econd most points on their team while playing on the second line (sadly the Berserkers are not doing the food line of Ketchup, Cabage and Pizza) and the added depth is greatly helping the Bersekers who sit 6 games above .500.
Entropy Sanchez has the highest plus minus on the Bersrkers with an astounding 23 as a forward and this is while racking up 28 points for their team. Sanchez keeping up the defensive play will be one of the keys to this team staying competitive this season.
Roman Roy leads the Berserker defenders in plus minus with 20, but has far less PIMs than Ondrej van Stoodrick who has 30 and the most ATOI.
Ben Harrison is the primary or 1A goalie in Newfoundland and has gotten a record 10-7 thanks to an incredible save percentage of .900. Rookie Launchpad McQuack is not far off the pace either with a save percentage of .886, meaning the goalie pairing on this team is acting like a brick wall. Time will tell if they will get the proper help they need in the scoring department to get the wins they are working hard for.

9. Kraken  Carolina Kraken Kraken

Record: 14-14-4, 32 points, 32 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 2-4-3
Preseason’s power rank: 12.
Last season's placement: 11.
The Kraken have perhaps improved in their overall play from last year, but will be hard pressed to make playoffs in the highly competitive EOTTIRD Division.
We would not be talking about the EOTTIRD if we didn't have overtimes. The Kraken were hanging much closer to the leaders of the division, but have had a hard time securing 2 points from games. Still, they are only 12 points back from the leading Malamutes and they have 34 games to try and pass only one other team in the warzone of a division.
Players to Watch:
Rence Sykut has been all over the ice for the Kraken. League wide, Skyut ranks 6th in assists, 5th in points, 9th in power play goals and, most importantly, 8th in penalty minutes. Needless to say, this multi threat center (who is playing wing on the top line) leads the Kraken in points with 47. In a few weeks, we could be looking at Skyut getting a 100 points in a season while also taking over 60 minutes of penalties, which would be wildly entertaining.
Betzee Nickelback is the center of the top line in Carolina and leads the forwards in ice time, but has far less points than Rence Skyut. If the Kraken want to catch any of the other three teams int he division, they will need more out of their top line than just what Rence is giving them.

10.  Battleborn Nevada Battleborn Battleborn

Record: 15-13-3, 33 points, 31 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 7-2-1
Preseason’s power rank: 8.
Last season's placement: 4.
The Battleborn are reeling from the loss of many key veterans of the junior scene including Thomas Sawschuk. This has led to a tumble down the standings from a team that was dueling the Vancouver Whalers for the top of the standings during the early part of last season. While the Battleborn finished 4th last season, they were good enough to be considered a favorite in the playoffs. However, the Battleborn can benefit from a fortunate seeding in a weaker 4 team division. It seems that the Battleborn can remain middle of the pack and still make playoffs, which would be a positive as always for the teams that find themselves near the bottom. Great Falls and the Scarecrows are not exactly charging up the standings and the Battleborn are starting to build up a bit of a buffer in the standings thanks to their recent play.
Players to Watch:
Cal Juice and Aksel VINsen are leading the Battleborn in the points department, playing very complimentary to each other on the top line as the wings. They combine for 84 points and 39 goals together and are a good sign for things to come as these two start to combine together. If they can improve just a little bit, they could be in the converation for the better top lines in the league.
The Battleborn are sporting a rookie center on the top line with Literal Wizard. Wizard has been able to pour out damage like they just hit level 5 and chose fireball. The rookie has garnered 29 points through only 31 games, meaning he could get to 60 in his rookie campaign. This will be a very fun story to follow.
I-Stir MyPudding has been putting on the hurt with the most PIMs in the entire SMJHL and has also been performing for the Battleborn with 21 assists and is 4th on the team for points. With PIMs being the most important stat, the Battleborn need to replicate the play of this fine specimen.
Sergey Ivanov has the highest plus/minus with the highest average time on ice, but Ivanov is the second highest in both of those departments, meaning Ivanov, though a workhorse, needs to get the PIMs up by about 5 minutes to get to the elite level that Ivanov is playing at.
Just Perfection has an insanely high save percentage of .910. While they have a record of 12-10-2, no one in their right minds would put the losses on Just Perfection. If JP continues this impressive play, the NBB could rise very quickly in the standings.

11.  Knights Kelowna Knights Knights

Record: 12-23-1, 25 points, 36 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 1-9
Preseason’s power rank: 14.
Last season's placement: 13.
The Knights are a team where any improvement is good improvement from the last season since they failed to make playoffs, but being in a three team division with a guaranteed playoff spot has not slowed the Knights or given them a sense of complacency. While it will be very difficult for the Knights to catch up to the Falcons and secure a playoff bye, the Knights are still doing a decent job staving off the Regina Elk to at least get a home advantage. However, the recent performances are something to be very concerned with. The Knights were more in the middle of pack but have fallen off and may soon be passed by other teams thanks to the 1-9 record in the recent games. Something a little to harsh to note, none of the Knights have a positive plus minus, in fact all of them are double digit negative.
Players to Watch:
Daniel Durkburg is leading the Knights in terms of points production with 29. Durkburg plays on the first line of course with other team high performer Activity Check and will need to ramp up the points production to stabilize the Knights.
Blant Chorski is leading the rookies for the Knights, amassing 21 points on a struggling team which means the Knights can be exicted about this player going forward. If Chorski can get to 40 points, they should consider this season a solid learning and growing experience.
Trey Daniels is another veteran on the Knights and is helping with a little bit of the depth in the Knights, but will need to have a much better second half of the season if the Knights hope to make a splash in the playoffs.

12.  Elk Regina Elk Elk

Record: 11-20-1, 23 points, 32 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 3-6-1
Preseason’s power rank: 6.
Last season's placement: 5.
The Elk are suffering from a common affliction of many top teams in the past seasons: replacing premier talent. The goals have been hard to find for Elk as they are looking to develop new players. Troy McClure III said, “[We are] coming together at a team dispute what the standings [say]. 100% will make the playoffs!” And Troy is 100% correct as the Elk are in a three team division, meaning they are guaranteed a playoff spot. However, they would love to get into the home ice territory and save a little face as they adjust to the rebuild. That being said, the system has worked out well for the Elk to go through this rebuild with a young team where they had to go deep in the draft. The Elk will automatically make playoffs no matter what, getting more experience for their young players and letting them build a strong culture.
Players to Watch:
Mary Hollywood is the top rookie skater on the team and has been singled out for a great shooting ability and high activity. Hollywood could develop into exactly what the Elk need to replace the shooting power of Bayle.
Troy McClure III has the second most shots blocked in the league at the moment with 106. McClure will be looked at as more of a leader on this team that lacks experience.
The Rookie Goalie Tandem of Henri Losanov and Roman Cechmanek II have struggled, but have been under immense fire from a litany of shots. Iron may sharpen iron and these goalies could come out of this season the better and be a strong duo for the Elk for the next 4 seasons.

13. Grizzlies Great Falls Grizzlies Grizzlies

Record: 10-23-1, 21 points, 34 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 4-5-1
Preseason’s power rank: 4.
Last season's placement: 14.
We definitely over hyped the Grizzlies after their stellar performance in last year’s playoffs, but it should not come as a major surprise that the Grizzlies are falling. They lost a major portion of their roster to the age out process or trades. Now all of this would be bad enough, but the Grizzlies find themselves in a 4 team division, meaning they cannot jump into playoffs automatically like they did last year. However, fortunately for them, the St. Louis Scarecrows and the Nevada Battleborn are two of the other teams in the division and both teams are struggling alongside the Grizzlies. And we all know how deadly these bears can be if you allow them into the playoffs. To quote Peanut, one of the more high profile players on the Grizzlies due to their large bank and high draft position in the SHL draft, has perhaps best described the situation in Great Falls as “meh.”
Players to Watch:
WonderBread is the current highest scoring rookie on the Grizzlies and is third on the team in total with 19. WonderBread is playing alongside the sniper known as Poiklm on the third line, but this growing chemistry could be great for the Great Falls.
Peanut was a very high draft pick in the SHL Entry Draft, however, this defender has been struggling in the recent games, but if the Grizzlies are going to turn this around, look for it to start with the defense.
Scoring has been a problem for the Grizzlies, but Poiklm only player with a positive plus minus and the only player to have a double digit goal total. Part of this is thanks to their league leading shot percentage 31.11%.
Gordon-William Gibbles

14. Scarecrows  St. Louis Scarecrows Scarecrows

Record: 8-23-2, 18 points, 33 Games Played
Last Ten Games: 4-6
Preseason’s power rank: 11.
Last season's placement: 9.
The Scarecrows might be looking to make it to playoffs still and there could be an open avenue for them to make it still. The Grizzlies have not pulled away from St. Louis yet and in the 4 group division, nothing is guaranteed. St. Louis is dealing a new management team and learning as they go in the middle of a rebuilding year so making playoffs would be an immense accomplishment.
Players to Watch:

Cameron Dallas has 22 goals for the Scarecrows and leads the team in terms of points with 35. Dallas is getting help his team though and if the chemistry can work out on the Scarecrows, it will likely trickle down from the veterans on the top lines. Dallas is also the only player on the Scarecrows that is not negative in terms of plus minus.
James Madison is the current best rookie for the Scarecrows, having racked up 9 goals and 13 assists over 33 games and could break forty points as a rookie on a rebuilding roster. Not saying that it'll come this year, but if Madison can keep improving, the future could be brighter for St. Louis.
Arturri Lappalainen is leading the entire league in shots blocked and it really is not close. Arturri has 148 blocked shots and the next closest in the league is at 106 and the closest on his team is at 68.

Thus concludes the mid-season power rankings. We will likely have one more before the playoffs, which should be very interesting to see what changes there are in the standings and how the players we have highlighted do. Best of luck to all the teams and players in the league as we close out the season. Forward any criticisms you have of this power ranking to HFFO. (Don’t actually.
