Today we will be looking at two teams both from Alberta the Calgary Dragons and the Edmonton Blizzard both of these franchises are gaining cores looking to get younger let's see how there prospects pools look so far.
Edmonton Blizzard ![]() 1 Jakub Aittokallio G Drafted 9th OV S13 The goalie that has an impossible name despite all that he is set to become one of the best goalies and argueably is the best goalie prospect out there right now. Jakub has been patient and now he's ready to step into the light and become a star goalie everyone is expecting him to be. With the burden of an aging core and losing depth Jakub will need to stay patient with his team and let them rebuild once again to become the team that won the cup only a short while ago. If he can be patient with a few tough seasons there no doubt he can be the next Ask who became a star this season and brought himself into the elite tier. ![]() 2nd Jordin FourFour G Drafted 26th OV S14 How do you follow up the best goalie prospect well with another star prospect in the pipes FourFour is a goalie who will likely take a back up role 2 years down the road for the Blizzard unless he's traded which many expect he will. If he keeps his pace he could become a very good starter within 2-3 years and could become a star keeper in the near future. Hopefully he doesn't get stuck behind Jakub for too long and go inactive because he has to tools to become a stud goalie. ![]() 3rd Belial LW Drafted 17th OV S14 Retired? Not retired its hard to gauge this guy he could become a solid player or he could bust only time will tell he is a very hit or miss prospect at this point. Either way the Blizzard are hoping he pans out to be something more than a bottom 6 forward that he's showing signs of at this point in time. ![]() 4th Seth Smit-Larsson D Undrafted Seth went undrafted I'm S14 and was later picked up by the Blizzard will become nothing more than a depth defender at this point has shown no commitment to improving himself since juniors. So why would he start now ? After that the Blizzard cupboards are bare they need a solid draft soon to rebuild there franchise and become a solid contender once again. Calgary Dragons ![]() 1st Xander Mole LW/RW Drafted 21st OV S14 Has shown some dedication to improving his game could become a slow developing top 6 forward right now he projects to be a bottom 6 skill player but aslong as he stays the course he could be a top 6 forward within a few years needs to stay dedicated however. That's the question with him at this point in time. ![]() 2nd Markus Lokt C Drafted 25th OV S14 So far shown no dedication to improvement since start of his junior year lots was expected of him but now it's all in question the trade at this point to bring him in seems like a bad idea The Dragons are by far the worst prospect pool in the league and had no picks last two year with retirements of Spezza Anderson Jesster Wilson. Aging players like Webb Smirnov this core is worn down and in need of a serious retooling of they will be bottom feeders faster and for a while. GM needs to smarten up here and look to the future. This issue was and will be the shortest of them all 2 week pools the last two will be the Panthers and Renegades. This will be followed up by a article ranking each teams prospect pools.
