GreatOneHimself's Guide
#1

In this topic I will GreatOneHimself's Guide. So I will be narrowing down the pros and cons of this site, while having fun and staying inspired. Nothing against the site, best simulation hockey league out there.

1. Navigation
So navigation is a key factor in liking the site and how it is formatted. The navigation on the site is a rated 7.5 out of 10 and here's why;

Pros:
So the navigation is well routed and with help is easy to find. Maybe if you look around the site more often things become more clear. So if you have difficulty finding the necessary thread but find it anyway, I think a good option is to attach it to your task bar if it's something that will be used again or used frequently.

I think it's pretty easy to find the Point Task CLAIMS and to write a Media Article in which is a way to make in-game currency. I think the SHL should look more into better ways to make TPE, i'll get into why in the cons. For example, I like how you just have to post in the bank for a withdrawal and what your withdrawing for. 500k for Equipment for say. It's easy and the updater's have no problem finding it and updating it. However if you have difficulty with this, just ask and someone will reply eventually and hopefully it will help.

Now to the job postings. Not all jobs are posted in the job postings section. Actually you can find them elsewhere, for instance in the simming office. It will give you sort of a sign up job where you do something to help the simulation and help inform fellow members of the site on what's going on in the simulation. It can earn you some cash or some TPE as a reward. Having a real job in the Simulation Hockey League is it's own reward however. Whether it be a General Manager or Graphic/Media Grader, there's tons to do!

SMJHL and SHL media is cool to read if your bored. Some may post analyst on something that interest you like Playoffs or Awards or even Trades. Sometimes funny stories that always give you a big laugh or little chuckle with a smile.

Cons:
So cons are also important in finding what should make you aware of. So i'm going start off with the way you find things to buy. So honestly I find it hard to find the training"s. If you didn't know there is three types of training"s, all are different prices. I wasn't aware of that until my third week. Which is a major problem when you don't have enough money to buy the best training or the best equipment, which is what my next thing is. Equipment prices thread is hard to find for me....I have seen that thread twice and never knew how I found it. Luck I guess? Equipment can upgrade your players TPE and plus you can pick your favorite brands for it also.

Older threads that are useful are much needed.....Due to the overflowing over threads each day, it's hard to find that old thread that you really need. Although it's easy to ask a moderator, it's nice to be able to find it by yourself without help (of course).

2. Create a Player/ Upgrading the player
So this is the most important topic on this list because of this being the main thing to do on this website. This is very crucial to know about and i'm here to break it down, piece by piece.

Pros:
So the good thing is that having a player build is effective. Not having all your attributes equal. Builds are something like this; Scoring is a 93 but checking is 62 for say. It's important to have a build like that. When creating your player, there's the player build tool. It helps make things more clear when trying to become a playermaker or grinder for example. The starting TPE helps also, that's crucial is to get TPE. Probably the biggest thing to do is to get TPE. The more you work on your build and earn TPE. The more you'll be able to score goals or beat up a rival.

There are plenty of ways to upgrade your player with! Point Task, training's, Activity Checks and much more! The most consistent TPE gainers would be training's, Activity Checks and Equipment buys. These are things that are most popular and the easiest to gain TPE. Every week no problem. Point Task are ALMOST every week which is why it isn't the strongest source for TPE. If you stay active in the community then better TPE opportunities will appear and that just makes your player even better!

Cons:
So here are the dreadful, CONS! Okay, when your upgrading your player at a high level in the SHL, it gets very hard to keep your amazing build that scores points or wins fights and gets penalties. Where the max is 99 on your strengths and 95 on the rest except weakness. Now it gets very hard to work on skills when you reach Eighty through Ninety-Nine. But it so happens that you max out, you just collect TPE for your collection and keep moving on. If only SHL could make an unlimited bar of TPE skills. This would make builds better and not have 800 TPE players winning scoring titles and have 1000+ TPE players winning them.

When creating your player, think yourself as a guy who doesn't know hockey but likes simulation leagues for example. I have no idea what a Grinder or Sniper is. Maybe not even the position. (If you were smart you'd look it up). But I feel they should have more detail going into the roles of these players. It would really boost the community. For example you could have a proclaimed grinder, but instead have a sniper who never fights or gets penalty minutes. Doesn't make sense...does it?

Put a lot of thought in to your player before making him or before you start wasting masses of TPE on something that won't work! Trust me on this one.

3. Community
The community is a great place to get your information to further your career on the website. Some members are helpful and some want you to go and jump off a bridge. Let's see the pros and cons of the community.

Pros:
Obviously the Simulation Hockey League is all about pros when it comes to community. Like come on, when I joined there was at least 3-6 people offering to help me if help was needed. That really boost an interest in the site and my early thoughts on the community. Ask anyone and they will probably give you good advice. Remember, everyone has their own opinion on the thing that your asking about. Don't be afraid to reach out to three people at once, because it's good to see the better version and then add on to it with the better advice the other two guys gave to you. Don't be a snob and don't ask for help. Always be open for help and advice, it is need! So act like yourself on the site. Character matters if you want to be liked and noticed.

Another thing is jobs. Jobs get you noticed around the community and respected. They constantly open up. Media Grader, Graphic Grader, Global Moderator and way more. A good reputation can get you jobs also, so yet again....BE LIKABLE. Advice comes in to play even more when you ask for advice on jobs on this website. It's VEERRYYY important to have some guidance on things other then teams and your player. Management we can call it. It can also land you some extra TPE in the future for SOME jobs. It's great publicity and can land you bigger jobs in the future.

Cons:
Now this is dreaded by many....Sometimes you have your few sour apples in the tree. Some freak out in an uncontrollable rage, some whine that they can't figure out how to log out. Some hate on people for their player name, it's always a different story!

Some people put down new guys because well....Nobody knows why. Some new people once you get to know them, become best friends sooner or later. Some people go off first impression and then boom they don't you. Not telling people to change in any way possible. It's just you shouldn't judge people right off the bat after they join. Let them be comfy and get to know them and see how they act in the forums before pointing fingers. It's always important to make people feel welcome when they join, especially when they are new and need advice. Some people will blow you off and not say a word....Thanks....

Not many cons for this, just some stuff off the top of my head. Smile

4. Updaters
This is going to be a short one and this is a pet-peeve of mine and i'm not even one.

Pros:
They update your player and are the reason why you play in the sim the way you play in the sim. End of story.

Cons:
Some people complain because it takes too long for them to update their player when in reality they have lives too and they have to tend to their own needs before yours. They are human beings so let them live. Some people have complained on forums and in messages to commissioners and owners that updaters are too slow and need to have a quicker system or something. They are HUMANS! End of story.

5. Teams
So this is things about teams that you'll like and dislike, Enjoy!

Pros:
For some people, on a rebuilding team on a simulation league is a free ticket to superstardom in a few seasons.
Some people may like the casual contender team that continues to grow and flourish and someday hoist the Four Star or Challenge Cup. It's very likely you'll want to be on a cup contending team. Everyone wants to win the cup early in your career or late in your career. Some guys live the dream and some do not.

75% of the time, people will go on any team. Some fool around and say they won't go on this team but in reality don't really care on what team they are on in the end. I would be honored to be important piece in any team honestly. This is something that General Managers crave. You always want to be the first guy to reach out to a General Manager and say that you'd play for any franchise as long as they are welcoming.

Cons:
Some people just aren't happy with what they have. Your on a rebuilding team then you get frustrated and demand a trade to a different team just because of the way they are performing. Listen if you get traded off a rebuilding team, well chances are in 3-6 seasons you'll be going from a rebuilding team to a cup contender and back down to a rebuilding team. Don't be a picky guy and always be team first.

People like to pick favorites and show it too much. So they have one guy at the bottom of the list who they expect to lick their shoe and they have a guy at the top of their list who they lick their shoes. You can always have a favorite don't express it TOO much or it makes people mad or jealous.....It will make your team stink by having to trade a good asset to a worst team....Yep...

So to build a great team just have a great personality and be positive. No one wants to hear that their team stinks when in reality it may actually stink......Every team in the end will end up good.....Hopefully???

6. Finale
So we made through this whole thing and I've actually learned a lot by writing this. It's been mentally draining, to be honest. So now you know how good Simulation Hockey League is and know things on what to be aware of. I put a lot of work in this article so if I could get a comment and rate that would be nice. I would love to push this thread to newer players so that they can not be a snob and Vladislav Nesteromov. That guy is such a snob it make baby penguins cry....

This article was written in hopes of it being used for more then just a media thread for cash (although I do like the moneyz) It's been something I have dreamed of doing and it's finally done. Big shout out to the website in where it provided me with this great information on what I should do. I haven't really found a topic like this so I thought it would be cool to write and explain the pros and cons of the website and much more. I know I keep repeating but you never want to have a negative attitude, it's an online interactive website....You can hide those negative thoughts outside of the game. It helps in the long run and will not get you snubbed or something....

This article was brought to you by GreatOneHimself, he loves long walks on the beach and watching hockey while riding his pony through the Himalaya desert. He likes pizza and will stop at nothing to make burger king a better place for children around the globe. If you some how make him angry, he will go super saiyan on you and immediately 420 blaze it on you off a Snoop Dog statue. So remember kids, stay healthy shiny and unique. So just act like Morgan Freeman, he is god remember.....
