Good evening everyone and welcome to the return of the New England Wolfpack team awards! In our revival of this occasion, we are bringing back five awards, each named after legends of Wolfpack past and standing as a symbol of what excellence means to the Pack.
The Patrikov Bure Award This trophy is awarded in honor of Patrikov Bure who was a franchise cornerstone of the Wolfpack, excelling in offensive production. It goes to the Wolfpack player with the biggest offensive contribution of the season as voted on by their peers. The Mia Landvik Award This trophy is awarded in honor of Mia Landvik who was a long term captain and defensive stalwart on the Wolfpack back end. It goes to the Wolfpack player with the biggest defensive contribution of the season as voted on by their peers. The Nathan Russell Leadership Award This trophy is awarded in honor of Nathan Russell who captained the team to three Challenge Cups in the early S30s. It goes to the Wolfpack player who best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice as voted on by their peers. The Sasha Dangelchek Memorial Award This trophy is awarded in honor and memory of the late Sasha Dangelchek who passed away on 9/9/2020. It goes to the Wolfpack player who best exemplifies camaraderie, friendship and sportsmanship as voted on by their peers. The Jasper Clayton Award This Trophy is awarded in honor of Jasper Clayton who was the GM from S30-S40 and lead the team in several offensive metrics during their tenure. It goes to the Wolfpack player who most exceeded expectations as voted on by the team management. The voting process was internal to the Wolfpack for all awards. For the four award winners selected by their peers, all current players and prospects of the Wolfpack were given a first and second place ballot, with first place ballots being worth two points and second place ballots worth one. Once the voting deadline closed, I tallied the results for your viewing pleasure today! Without further ado, let's unveil the S79 winners of the New England Wolfpack Team Awards! This season’s winner of the Patrikov Bure Award is a player who should be no surprise to any who watched the Wolfpack this season. A leader in the locker room, this player excelled offensively this season, pacing the team with a nine point edge on second place, while also delivering at the other end of the rink for good measure. A Sarmad Khan Award nominee and captain of your New England Wolfpack, Antoine Beauregard! ![]() ![]() Next up is the Mia Landvik Award, recognizing the most outstanding Defensive Contribution by a player to the team this season. This was another award which featured a standout contribution by one of the Pack’s leaders. This season’s winner was truly exceptional, leading the team in takeaways and overall defensive rating, coming in second in blocked shots, and pacing the team’s defencemen in points for good measure, this season’s winner is your alternate captain of the New England Wolfpack, Pork Tenderloin! ![]() ![]() Our third player-voted award is the Nathan Russell, recognizing the player identified by their teammates as best exemplifying leadership on and off the ice. This was a hotly contested award this season, with the winner edging out second place by one point. So I want to seize this opportunity to shoutout a phenomenal culture in the New England with four different players making a strong case for the award. Nonetheless, this winner is a constant presence in the New England locker room, always quick at hand to welcome new faces to the organization, to make a thoughtful contribution to a conversation, or (much more likely) to drop the perfect gif or witty quip to inject life wherever it’s needed. This player is a fixture in the league and we are lucky to have him, Troy McClure IIII! ![]() ![]() The final player-voted award, the Sasha Dangelchek Memorial Award, goes to the player who best exemplifies camaraderie, friendship, and sportsmanship. This was another hotly contested award, with the winner once again edging out second place by a single vote. The winner of this award is a prolific podcaster, gif dropper, and class clown of the New England Wolfpack locker room. Collecting his second award of the night, Troy McClure IIII! ![]() ![]() Finally, the Jasper Clayton Award is the opportunity for New England Management to recognize a player who exceeded expectations for the organization this season. Luke and I had a difficult task this season as, frankly, we have high expectations for our group with some of the best organizational depth in the SHL. However, this season, one player rose to the top. New England has been lucky to be the home of this player ever since they were drafted by the organization way back in S64. This player entered the S79 season with a chance to build upon an already incredible legacy in New England, where they are one of the most active voices in the locker room, not to mention a prolific producer on the ice. This player made a statement in their final season wearing the colours of New England, tallying 20 goals and 39 assists en route to 59 points in 66 games, finishing their New England tenure at 299 Goals and 563 Assists for a total of 862 points in 858 games. The winner of the S79 Jasper Clayton Award is none other than your Alternate Captain of the New England Wolfpack, Outdoor Truck! ![]() ![]() 929 words ![]() Registered Raptors Captain and Czech Janitor
