Goody Final FA Rankings & Presser
#1

After a significant number of trades today...

1. Rage
-Still my home, roster looks almost the same
2. Stars
-As long as Harter and PLL stay, team looks good. Adding Sullivan is a plus.
3. Panthers
-I always underestimate LAP, time to stop doing thag.
4. Blizzard
-I'd like to catch the last year of Keenan.
5. Riot
-Consistently flying under the radar.
6. Jets
-Also always flying under the radar.
7. Chiefs
-Its all in, so most it would be would be a one year deal. But Jakobsen would have to go.
8. Wolfpack
-Still a season or two out. I want to be in the playoff race.
9. Stampede
-I like where brandon is headed here and 701 is my duu.
10. Renegades
-No FourFour, no playoffs. No playoffs, no Goody. But in a season or two i'm in, Deener is a beast.
11. :admirals:
-Sorry JP, just not right now.
12. Platoon
-Not exactly sure where they are headed right now...but we'll see.
13. Steelhawks
-Rivalry just too strong right now. Grats on the cup Tanner
14. Dragons
-Love Esa, but can't do it. Although these guys should push in the west this season.

As of right now, money isn't really a big deal. I'm going to take shorter deals for the rest of my career because I think part of my fun now that I've taken a lesser role in the league with jobs or team management will come from free agency and experiencing other franchises. With that flexibility will also come the ability to get a few extra bucks down the line should I become cash strapped. But at the moment, I've got enough money to hold me over. So unless teams want to woo me with cash, a minimum contract is probably sufficient if you've got all the other things I'm looking for.

Dam I sure like the sound of that.

Well, sadly I'm not Mac. However, I'm sure a Goody - Nuck top pairing would do quite well.

If Hamilton traded away Clitty, would it lessen the rivalry hate you have for us?

I personally think Rider Clitsome is a fantastic player, locker room addition and ambassador to our game. If Hamilton were to move on from him, it probably would lessen the likelihood that I join the team this offseason or in the future.

The rivalry I have with Hamilton is simply a product of playing for Manhattan and New England with both of my players in the SHL. And, essentially every time my team has made the playoffs we've had to go through Hamilton. Hamilton's ability to be competitive nearly every season is what created that rivalry for me.

Quote:Originally posted by NUCK@Aug 6 2015, 02:50 AM
How can you honestly want to got to Toronto as they are also a rivalry team? Although they do suck so I guess your games against them do not need you to play you A game Wink

I've honestly never considered Toronto as a rival. While Hamilton has always been a fierce competitor in the playoffs, Toronto has been less of a threat historically. Not to mention, there has always been a great trading relationship between Manhattan and Toronto. Teams that are truly, truly rivals tend not to want to give another organization the shot at their assets. During my tenure as GM, I only ever really felt that sort of rivalry between Manhattan and Hamilton as well as Manhattan and New England.

Quote:Originally posted by NUCK@Aug 6 2015, 02:50 AM
Are you looking for a pay check or a home with your new team?

As I mentioned before, money isn't really a motivation for me at this point. The biggest factors to me are fit, flexibility and an opportunity to play with new teammates. Largely, my SHL experience has been limited to two teams in the Eastern Conference. And while its going to be super hard for me to leave Manhattan, given my recent history with the team, I'm also excited about potentially joining a new franchise and experiencing something different and fresh.

I don't neccessarily want a "new home" or anything to that effect. But, I'm also not looking to tour the entire SHL. I'd like to play for more franchises and experience some new things over the next 5 seasons. Then perhaps I can settle down somewhere that I feel comfortable. With a constantly evolving landscape of competive teams and locker room experiences, I think that being able to shift with the league is something I want to do.

Quote:Originally posted by Elyk@Aug 6 2015, 07:48 AM
What caused Winnipeg to drop in your rankings?

If I'm being honest, Edmonton, Seattle and Winnipeg are pretty interchangable. The biggest difference between those teams would be a pitch and their ability to make me feel like the LR would be an active and fun place to be. I know all 3 of those franchises are capable of winning, so that's not a differentiator! The only reason I gave EDM the nod at 3 was because of Keenan's retirement. I know the guys that are in Winnipeg and Seattle will all be there in a season or two should I choose to change teams then.

Quote:Originally posted by Elyk@Aug 6 2015, 07:48 AM
Do you have an idea of where you want to sign already or would you consider going to any team if they make you a good "pitch" and can convince you that they are the team for you?

The only team that I'm 100% sure I would sign with at this point is Manhattan. Firstly, because they are the only team that has extended me an official offer, but also because I know what the experience is like in that room.

I am open to any offer or discussions that GMs want to have. I truly feel that many of my discussions this offseason will lay the groundwork for future discussions as well. I don't see this as my last time being a free agent in the near future. So, any and all discussions are important to me.

Considered, but dismissed.

In all honesty, I've had an opportunity to play alongside some phenomenal talents with Manhattan and Team USA during Goody's tenure. I'd love the opportunity to play alongside Garbanzo at some point. I could show him my Stevens Trophy and give him something to work toward. Tongue There are so many great young defensemen in the league these days that I'd love to play with, Garbanzo is certainly one of them.

Quote:Originally posted by vbottas17@Aug 6 2015, 12:37 PM
How important is playing for a contending team to you?

HUGE. I think that's why many of the teams at the top of my list are where they are; I see them as contenders. Obviously, I believe in the team in Manhattan. I believe Toronto is on the come-up. Los Angeles is a proven powerhouse in the West with 2 of the last 3 finals appearances. I love a winning culture and really think that it helps push team activity. I like to win and love an active LR.

Quote:Originally posted by vbottas17@Aug 6 2015, 12:37 PM
Would you rather play a very large role on a rebuilding team or a steady top 4 role on a contending team?

I would rather play an auxillary role on a competing team than be the go to guy for a team that's rebuilding. Personal stats have never meant much to me, I just want to contribute where I can. I am essentially a #3 or #4 D on some SHL rosters, and I'm more than okay with that

Would Goody and Bottas be the best defensive pairing in the league?
[/quote]

I truly believe that Bottas might be one of the best S20 defenseman to slot right in beside Goody. He's a but more offensive than the game that I play, which will complement my defense first persona quite well. I think it would be a dangerous tandem for sure; perhaps one of the best the SHL has seen in quite a few seasons.
