Building a player with a specific role and focus is the quickest way to maximize effectiveness with minimal TPE. Attributes don't just affect your proficiency in a skill but also your frequency to perform that skill. Players with higher passing will not just complete more passes with fewer interceptions but will also attempt to pass more often.

If you're just blindly throwing TPE at your player it's going to take forever for you to become an effective player. You have to have a plan. Its ok to have some attributes at 40 and some at 70. And others at 90. As long as you're creating a player to do one specific action.

I built Clitsome to be a shooter. Which is why his passing never went above 80.

Thanks Schultzy as well. Three good answers paint the picture well enough. It must be a bit like an impressionist painting. If you gather enough points, it becomes clear enough.

I haven't even retired and recreated yet. But I already have my starting build planned out. Every attribute and TPE I will spend. I also have it planned out where I want to be when I hit 500 TPE and when I hit 1000 so I know exactly what to upgrade when.

I've done that for my 350 build. I had the same plan as you mentioned for 500, 700, and 1000 if I decide that I like this enough to last that long. My plan is to go quietly in the late rounds of my SHL draft or to be picked up as an undrafted free agent. Take a minimum salary with incentives and see if I make it.

Back to your original questions. 300 TPE can play in the SHL if you're active. 500 to not suck. 850 for the 2nd line. 1000 for the top line and 1200 to be elite. That's about where the league is. You'll see some inactive 155 healthy scratches in the SHL to meet the roster limit.

I'm actually against active rookies going back to the SMJHL as send downs. I think the quicker you escape the disaster that is the SMJHL and the quicker you enter the real league, the better your career will be.
