So stop trying to make the Salary/Contract system work like it is one.

Because forcing players off teams is the point of all this? Please come back when your brain is working.
That's exactly what you said you were going to do in your message?

Which professional sports league has parity? Also the SHL has some parity, 6 teams in the east were in the hunt for the post-season until the very end and in the west didnt the last place playoff team get in because of ROW?

Agree on the parity point- I mentioned in the previous thread that I'm all for making sure the playing field is level, but not artificial parity. My rebuild means less if the league chases ghosts over "parity". I think that there are good and bad parts to the proposal but my main support is behind:

-Contract length limits for lower-TPE players. Ideally in my mind a player will sign an entry deal, a bridge deal, and then have the choice whether to sign long-term somewhere or bounce around the league as they enter that upper segment (1000+ TPE) of players in the league.

-Removing the hometown discount for players that haven't entered regression yet.

-Adding the additional tiers up to 1300+

-Doing a one-time adjustment of contracts to meet whatever new rules are implemented, at least in terms of length.

Edit: Any of these opinions are obviously able to be changed, I'm just saying what I'm thinking right now after reading and participating in the discussion.

We should add team TPE Caps tbh.

if your team goes over lets says 15,500 TPE or smt, you have to trade or let go your player so we create parity in the league, if it becomes an issue, we will just raise the cap. Creates an even playing field for everyone.

just to put some numbers to this

I checked Rage budget to see which players are "underpaid" or "overpaid" according to having contracts below/above what would become their tier minimum:

4 players making 5.0M total - this would add 5.0M onto my payroll - 3 of those players are recreates who had decent enough bank accounts that they could give the team a little leeway, including both GMS

11 players make more than what would be their tier, totalling 16.5M - most of them being younger or first-gens who could use the extra money, some of them being inactives who must always be signed to their last contract.

So basically, my team would be punished by 5.0M, for no real reason, which 5.0M could have gone a long way towards enticing a FA to the team, which would mean I wouldn't have to doubleshift McZ.
So remember that next season when you are all crying that he gets too much ice time! This is on you!

If by forcing players off of teams you mean that this proposal will make it difficult to retain a stacked team for a long period of time then sure.

Why the fuck are you cursing at me? Let's try and stay level headed in public discussion, we're actively looking for feedback here, so good discussion is what will help us get it. And isn't the maximum contract in the NHL 8 seasons now?

Just to back this up with some math: Assuming a $70M cap, a team could fit SIXTEEN 1000+ TPE players under their cap at $4M each, which is three full lines of actives (1 goalie, 6 defensemen, 9 forwards). On top of that it would also still leave them with $6M in cap space for a back-up goalie and three filler players to meet the roster requirements. That's an insanely stacked roster, more than pretty much every team in the league has right now.

Is this an all or none vote? Like, if we vote no, will you work on it again given the feedback people say? Or just scrap it?

It's a non-binding vote, we are listening to peoples feedback (like on the retirement penalty) but ultimately the deciding vote will be held in the HO.

Currently working on doing the math for all the teams with this proposal and assuming everyone takes the minimum to sty with their current team. I will let you know later unless I have to update some teams to get the playoffs going.

Assuming everyone will take minimum to stay with their teams is not realistic unless you are the Wolfpack.

TBH this might just make the wolfpack that much better.

It's not realistic for the Wolfpack either. Do you think I'd be making these arguments if that was the case?

He gets too much ice time, regardless. It just means now you have somewhat of an excuse.

I think one change that could be made is just having an advisory board or Players' association that rules on signings.

I think taking discounts is okay; to a point. I think one thing that needs to be changed is contracts that are straight up unfair to the league. Where someone who is on a rookie deal or on a lower deal signs for many many seasons and locks in their tiny cap hit.

I am all for discounts but they have to be reasonable.
