The S24 draft was nearly 10 seasons ago. After this season, every active player from the draft will be in regression phase and their play will start to deteriorate. The draft wasn't necessarily the most deep draft but it was loaded with more than a dozen of great guys that any team would have loved to pick up. Many didn't quite reach their expected potential though, players such as Beau Ballard, Mitchell whatever his name is (damn batch), Kyle Prince, and Brandon Girard simply fizzled out of the public eye. While others like Buster Killington never continued after the scandal in Portland. I'll be looking at the players that DID make it and the journey that led them to their 10th season in the SHL. Whether or not they stayed on the team they got drafted, got traded, or even switched positions, every player has made some impact in the Simulation Hockey League.
<b> <div align="center"> ![]() SMJHL Draft Patrikov Bure was added to the list of available players a few days before the draft. Or should I say Patrick Taylor? I'll use the name Patrick Taylor for now. Taylor was born in Vancouver, Canada and was scouted as a left wing playmaker. His first article involved Don Cherry and loads of self praise but was quite cringe looking back at it. Still, it did get him noticed by Yousuf Sherbluk, GM of the Vancouver Whalers. The day of the draft had arrived and Patrick Taylor waited patiently for his name to be called, Yousuf Sherbluk drafted Patrick Taylor 25th overall in round 5 which began his 3 season campaign for the Vancouver Whalers. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrick Taylor, 19 years old</div> S23 With the draft over, Taylor' 1st season in the minors began. During training camp and the pre-season, he quickly made friends with most of the team, Richard D'amour was one of his better friends throughout their time in Vancouver, joking around and making fun of other players in the league. He played the season with Beau Ballard and some inactive on the 2nd line. He struggled for the first half of the season before bouncing back late in the season. He scored 9 goals with 15 assists for 24 points in a 40 game season. Patrick Taylor's 1st season was a cup run for the Whalers as they knocked off both the Regina Force and the Kelowna Knights on their way to the finals. It all went downhill from there, a scandal had finally been revealed to the public as one of Vancouver's defenseman Mike Mann was banned after being revealed as Yousuf's multi. The team dropped the next two games after that and lost the S23 4 Star Cup ring to the Detroit Falcons. Vancouver's Russian veterans also left the following season, called up to the SHL, leaving a big spot for Patrick Taylor to fill in next season. The S23 Vancouver Whalers roster was a close group of friends though and a sig was made to commemorate their run together. The S24 SHL Draft was only a few days away after the 4 Star Cup Finals defeat and Patrick Taylor was PM'd a few times before the draft by various GMs. He never did get drafted by any of those GMs though, he was drafted 24th overall by Leafs4Ever, GM of the Winnipeg Jets, a team he would only player one season with in the SHL. S24 The SHL draft was over and Taylor's attention was brought to the Vancouver Whalers once more, Yousuf was fired after his multi fiasco and was replaced with Kit. Kit however went inactive before he ever made any GM moves, he did name JHS as his Co-GM who just took over as Head-GM. Before the draft had started, Taylor's wife Cynthia Taylor was eligible to be drafted and Patrick heavily pushed for JHS to draft her. JHS drafted 9 players during the draft, only 3 ever made it as an active player, Cynthia was not part of the players JHS drafted but JHS did take a player known as Geoffrey Allen instead. Besides Allen, Jack Durden and Zach Hoover were also taken in the draft, both being hugh mungus players for the Whalers. Originsz was hired by JHS after the draft to help with lines, one of the best decisions JHS ever made in my opinion. Around a day after the draft, RaIN ended up recruiting Patrick Taylor to Russia with promises of ice-time and another active LR. This is where Patrick Taylor would change his name to Patrikov Bure. All of the current Whalers and some of the alumni all became fast friends and meshed well with each other. If you didn't log in one day, you would miss 20 pages of the discussion thread and an hour of chatzy nude images. All of this fun was halted at first after a joke went wrong. JHS had joked about trading D'amour for Cynthia, something he did not take well to of the idea, he discussed with Bure about leaving Vancouver together, something that never came to fruition as D'amour was traded to Kelowna and a jpg of Save Private Taylor was probably created. The Vancouver Whalers regular season was an absolute shitshow, finishing dead last in the league, this sig pretty much is a good image to summarize the season: ![]() There were plenty of trade rumours going around in the Whalers LR as many had given up in the season, willing to be trade bait for next season. Still guys like Joker, Banack, and McZehrl all made the LR a blast to be in and rookies Hoover, Durden, and Allen all continued to get better as they all just had fun in the LR and chatzy. Patrikov Bure had a pretty good season as well, scoring 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points on the year. The playoffs had begun for the Whalers and they were to face off against the Prince George Firebirds aka the re-rebranded Regina Force. Whalers smacked them down in 6 games with the help of Patrikov Bure leading the charge in round 1. The Kelowna Knights were up next after they won the conference but lasted even shorter than the Firebirds as VLAD McZehrl led this charge to head to the SMJHL Finals. The Montreal Impact was the only team left in Vancouver's way of completing their cinderella run to the finals. The amazing BAD line was born during the playoffs as a line with Bure, Allen, and Durden were a triple threat in the playoffs. Game 1 was a ballbuster as Vancouver lost in OT. Game 2 looked like it was lost as well after Montreal took a 4-1 lead heading into the third, Patrikov Bure however managed to rally the team with a 7 minute hat-trick to tie the game into OT. Rookie Geoffrey Allen scored on the breakaway to tie the series 1-1. Both teams traded games after that, Vancouver winning game 3 and 5 but Montreal winning game 4 and 6 for a game 7. Game 7 was a nail bitter for both teams as game 7 went to OT. Beau Ballard for the Whalers however was the unlikely hero to score the game winner and bring the Vancouver Whalers a much deserved 4 star cup. Bure finished the playoff run off with a 25 point performance winning a trophy for most points in the playoffs while losing the playoff MVP award to his fellow winger VLAD McZehrl. It was a true cinderella story of the last place team winning it all in the end for the Whalers. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure lifting the 4 Star Cup</div> S25 This was Patrikov Bure's third and final season in the SMJHL for the Vancouver Whalers before he would join the Winnipeg Jets. S25 was also the season where the most recent expansion occured with the SHL expanding to Buffalo and Portland and the SMJHL expanding to Halifax and Colorado. The SMJHL draft was huge for the Whalers drafting the next top 2 defenders for Vancouver; Wyatt Wøllker and Cody Black. Vancouver captured itself in another controversy this season as well after a dispute between Dion and JHS. Dion had asked to be traded and JHS refusing to trade him without receiving ample assets back for him. Dion was sent up to the SHL and Vancouver without their #1 center. This wasn't the only player to leave for nothing that season either. Zach Hoover was sent up as a true rookie for the New England Wolfpack and Allen was sent up 10 games in to the Texas Renegades. Vancouver still performed marvellously as they played their went to the conference winners. Patrikov Bure was 1st on the Whalers scoring sheet scoring 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure, age 21</div> This was to be the Vancouver Whalers two-peat season however the losses of Hoover, Allen, and Ballard all were too much to bear as the Whalers fell in 5 games to the Colorado Mammoths. A disappointing ending to Patrikov Bure's SMJHL career but a brighter future was ahead for him. It wasn't quite easy for Bure to leave Vancouver though, he left a note for the city of Vancouver and all of the players he would leave behind next season in a heartfelt goodbye to the fans. S26 Patrikov Bure's first season in the SHL and it would be with the Winnipeg Jets. He was on the third line for the entire season where he struggled to replicate the same success he had in the minors. Players like Winston Windsor and Randy Randleman had flourished in their 1st season. Bure's season ended off with 10 goals and 11 assists as a scoring 3rd liner. He struggled to find a home in Winnipeg, not in the real estate type, but fitting in with the team. Winnipeg was a much more quiet team compared to his Whalers, players were older and did not spend as much time as I did on the SHL. Bure withdrew from the SHL preferring to chat on groupme where many of his S24 fellow draftees and a few people from S25 were on. The playoffs went by like a voice in the wind, Bure scored 4 goals and 2 assists during the 12 game run with the Jets but he doesn't quite remember who. Possibly due to the links being broken and PBPs being banned that season. <div align="center"> ![]() Bure in his 1st and only season with the Jets, age: 24</div> Leafs had messaged Bure about an extension however Bure felt that he needed to leave Winnipeg and become an active player again. He signed a one year extension anyways but requested to be traded sometime during the off-season. Bure didn't have to wait long though. The New England Wolfpack was knocking on Winnipeg's doors inquiring about the scoring winger, many of Bure's friends were on the Wolfpack and spoke good things about him (hopefully). The team was still very divided as during S26, the team practically were divided into two groups, the younger S25+ players, and the older veterans of the team. Bure heard of the worst that happened in the LR but decided to come along anyways as he liked how young the team was and thought he might be able to change things. Bure was traded to New England just a few days later, here was the trade: ![]() Patrikov Bure 2nd Round Pick ![]() Niklas Wikstrom That was that, Bure was on his way to Bawston as a future 1st-2nd line winger. Bure admitted he felt bad about leaving Winnipeg a few season later in an interview. Rookies like Atlas and Nereus were turning the team around in a younger more active group and he almost started to like the quiet yet somewhat active group they had. He was warmly welcomed by everyone on the team, both sides were happy with the new active player they got. Bure was asked about an extension when he arrived but he had told the GM that he wanted to wait and see. Thus began a new chapter in Bure's career, one with very big highs, but started out as a deep low. <div align="center"> ![]() Bure interviewed about trade</div> S27 Wherever Patrikov Bure went, controversy awaits. The S27 SHL draft started just a few days later, New England key draftee was Raven Silverwing, a future key player for the Wolfpack and one of Bure's good friends in New England. However New England was also thinking about drafting JHS's new player. The discussion didn't go off great though, many players went against the idea, Bure wasn't too fond of the idea either. JHS seemed to get into a argument every season and he was somewhat part of the S26 New England dividing, the chance of him resigning would be affected if JHS was drafted. JHS wasn't drafted and someone had told them of New England not wanting him to be there and apparently Bure was one of the people who was most against the idea. The two both got in a heated argument in the VAN LR and it never ended off on a high note. Sure enough, a few days after the draft Bure signed a 4 year extension with the New England Wolfpack. New England was a really active group that season in the LR and it brought up Bure's activity once more. Where New England faltered was the regular season as the team finished 2nd last in the league. Durden and Flacko were both traded during the deadline leaving behind a brand new core for the Wolfpack to work with for the upcoming seasons. Bure was put on the 1st line along with Nathan Russell and Blake Sherrill but lack of chemistry and a too young team proved to be the fault for the season. The future was bright for New England but it was obvious this was to be a work in progress. Bure scored 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure in his 1st season with New England, age: 25</div> S28 New England as a whole didn't get any weaker that season, they were a young team and no top players were in regression yet so naturally all of their players improved during the offseason. The Wolfpack managed to sneak into the last playoff spot in the east and faced off against the tough West Kendall Platoon. Bure continued to struggle this season again scoring just 12 goals and 13 assists on the top line. Nobody expected the Wolfpack be able to even have a chance of winning the series. To be fair, they were right as the Platoon did eliminate the Wolfpack in round 1 but the Wolfpack gave them a scare as they took the series to 7 games. Bure was non-existent during the playoffs as he managed just 1 assist in 7 games. S29 Saying this again despite sounding like a broken track record. The New England Wolfpack are a young team still and is only getting better and better because well... it's true, there's no where to go but up. Zach Hoover unfortunately announced his retirement at the end of the season but also helped Patrikov Bure breakout in his last season in the SHL before going off to live with Luke Fleming. He played on a line with Russell and Bure. While he didnt get much points, it forced Russell and Bure to work together more and it upped Bure's play by a huge margin. Bure scored 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points on the season and was the starting point for some great future seasons for Bure. While a personal success was great, the New England Wolfpack failed to make the playoffs despite playing better than last season due to the tough eastern conference. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure, age: 27 </div> S30 The offseason was a busy one for the league but also for the New England Wolfpack. The league had approved an update scale change with all players getting a chance to redo their builds. The Wolfpack had their own announcement just before the update scale change though. Long time GM duo Prettyburn and Storm had stepped down giving way to Eggy216 and Lil to take over as the new GMs of the New England. GM Eggy216/Rainbow Dash quickly made his presence be known as he made a trade with Hamilton to send Connor O'Reilly, a long time Wolfpack player in exchange for Jakob Tanner and Casper Jakobsson. He also brought in Jonathan Lundberg to solidify the center core for the New England Wolfpack. New England stumbled out of the gates, not looking very good at all as the new GM duo struggled to figure out the new lines after the update scale. Players pitched in to try to fix things but to no avail. Bure and Dash both discussed putting 3rd line grinder Tim Buckner on the 1st line as a Kunitz to Crosby. That didn't work as New England lost 3 in a row. From that day forth Bure swore he would never suggest lines again. Luckily that trade involving Tanner really paid off here, Tanner was GM of Hamilton for many seasons before and his experience was invaluable to the young Wolfpack squad. Tanner's lines managed to spark something from the Wolfpack but was the most effective on Patrikov Bure. Something just clicked once Bure was put on a line with Mainio Makinen and Jonathan Lundberg and Bure took off like a rocket. In the last 21 games with New England firmly out of the playoff spot, Bure helped drag the Wolfpack into the playoffs kicking and screaming. Tanner's lines only ended up losing 6 times in those 21 games just barely bringing them back into the playoffs. Bure was astounding as in those 21 games, he scored 19 GOALS and 10 assists and he finished off his season with 26 goals and 34 assists in his greatest regular season performance. His role of a "playmaker" was questioned at that point by his own team which is now a recurring joke. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure, age: 28 </div> The first opponents the Wolfpack had to face during the playoffs was the presidents trophy winning Minnesota Chiefs that had all the expectations in the world to win the cup. They truly had one of the most stacked rosters the SHL had ever seen with many future hall of fame players on each line. Whatever happened, whether you call it bad luck or shenanigans, the Wolfpack swept the Chiefs in 4 very close games. The first 3 games were decided by late OT goals by the Wolfpack while game 4 ended up 5-2 with a line brawl near the end. Next up were the West Kendall Platoon who just came off a game 7 win against the Manhattan Rage. The Platoon quickly ran over the Wolfpack in game 1 with a 5-2 win in what would be the first sign of a tough series. With the help of an OT hero in Raven Silverwing, the pack responded with winning the next two games before falling to the Platoon once more in game 4. The Platoon wern't quite able to secure a victory in game 5 prompting some big changes by coach Bojo. The changes backfired as the Wolfpack capitalized scoring 6 goals in a rout to lead the way to the Challenge Cup Finals. The Edmonton Blizzard also came rolling into the finals beating the Texas Renegades and the Calgary Dragons in 5 and 6 games respectively. Tanner's lines and the momentum by the Wolfpack was a unstoppable force that season for the Blizzard. They were also swept by the Wolfpack to secure their first Challenge Cup since S23. Bure scored 6 goals and 6 assists in 14 games, while no dominant playoff player he certainly had some key moments during the run. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure lifting up his first Challenge Cup</div> S31 The Cup winning New England Wolfpack practically went on cruise control from there. Jakob Tanner didn't do much in terms of lines this season as he had already given Eggy a good foundation to work off of. The New England Wolfpack were a dominant force in the east as they proved to be the best team in the league winning the presidents trophy. They made a move at the trade deadline to bring Rider Clitsome in one last cup run before he retired. Bure performed well this season, not quite the same level as S30 but he still scored 19 goals and 32 assists for 51 points. For the New England Wolfpack, the job was simple, to twopeat. For everyone else it was to knock the softpack off of the throne. Round 1, the New England Wolfpack faced off against the West Kendall Platoon yet again and once more, they had trouble figuring out the Platoon. They dropped 3 of the first 4 games and the Platoon looked poised to take it from there. Eggy moved most of the players around and put Bure with Russell and Silverwing while putting Clitsome with Lundberg and Makinen. The Wolfpack with the new line-up managed to win the next 3 games in a row to comeback from their 3-1 deficit. The next series was against the Toronto North Stars where the same thing happened again. The Toronto North Stars went up 3-1 in the series but a line change by Eggy turned the tide. Bure was instrumental in the comeback after having a shaky start to the playoffs. The Challenge Cup Finals was a repeat of the last season as the Blizzard once again rolled into the playoffs. The Blizzard did improve from the previous season as they weren't swept in the finals. The Wolfpack however was still far too much for them to bear as they were taken out in 5 games as New England had just completed their two-peat. Patrikov Bure was awarded the Anton Ratzov for his 24 point performance in the playoffs. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure awarded the Anton Ratzov for his playoff performance, age: 30</div> S32 The off-season was busy for Patrikov Bure as his contract had ended and his future with the New England Wolfpack looked hazy as he had not accepted a contract extension during the season. Before the free agency market opened up, Bure announced his rankings of the SHL teams and his reasoning of going to FA as to "see what I'm worth". There were reports of 9 teams offering him contracts in an attempt to sign him to their teams, various players called in trying to convince the Russian winger to lend his services to their team. Offers went upwards of 15+ Million Dollars throwing the money at the Anton Ratzov winner. Finally though, every New England Wolfpack fan sighed in relief as he agreed to resign a 13M contract with the Wolfpack in attempt to three-peat. Jakob Tanner had announced his retirement last season after going out with another cup on his hand with many people thinking the Wolfpack would have a weakness in the net for S32. Mikke Laukkanen quickly made those thoughts a distant memory as he proved he was more than ready to take the old man's place as starting goalie. Laukkanen was one of the best goalies in the league during the season, as a result offense on the Wolfpack was far weaker compared to the last 2 seasons but in return was given a much more solid defense. New England finished 1st in the east but weren't even close to the Panthers who had an incredible 78 point season. Patrikov Bure's points went down once more scoring 20 goals but only registering 24 assists for 44 points on the season. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure, Age 31</div> The chance for a three-peat started off facing against the Minnesota Chiefs. At first the Wolfpack had their business as usual with they took a 3-1 lead against the Chiefs in one of many embarrassing playoff series. The Chiefs managed to win game 5 and 6 and every Wolfpack fan got very nervous about how the series would turn out. Game 7, their worst fears came to reality as Lord Pretty Flacko scored a hat-trick for the Chiefs and the situation looked grimm for the Wolfpack. Something must have happened on the bench after the 4th goal was scored by the Chiefs as the Wolfpack began to surge back gaining all the momentum. They managed 5 goals in a row to win the game late in a 5-4 victory. The series seriously gassed them out though as the next series, they were not prepared at all for VLAD McZehrl's Manhattan Rage. They were swept in 4 games and many of their star players left scoreless for 4 games, Bure included. The Rage ended up losing to the Calgary Dragons in the finals but New England was silent for the first time since S29. S33 Last season's free agency frenzy for Bure didn't happen again in S32 as he signed a 10M extension with the New England Wolfpack before the 2nd round happened. His linemate Jonathan Lundberg had left to join the Portland Admirals during FA and his abscense was felt for Bure during the season. The Pack this season were almost in a retooling phase but not quite as they nearly had a complete 21 man roster as they were loaded with rookies and veterans alike. The Wolfpack continued their success in the regular season as they once more ended up 1st in the east but also the league by just one point ahead of the defending cup champions. Patrikov Bure had a troubling season however, despite scoring 4 goals in 1 game early in the season, he failed to register any points for the next 10 games and was frustrated with his performance. His linemates weren't much better either as they too struggled to find any production this season. However after Dieter Dominique, a rising breakout star for the Wolfpack, was placed on a line with Russell and Bure, signs of life were finally seen from the star players for New England. After a horrendous 6 points in 17 games, Bure managed to end the season with 21 goals and 22 assists for 43 points. <div align="center"> ![]() Patrikov Bure, Age 32</div> And well we've caught up to where we are today. <div align="center">Build</div> The main purpose of these articles isn't to jerk off any of my friends/myself to blue balls. It's actually to look at our builds while doing that. Down below will be Patrikov Bure's build from his player page, we will be judging what type of performance it delivers from it's past 4 seasons because that is around the time most of the S24 players obtained a near complete build. Obviously most of the things about these builds will be positive, most of them are complete and our weaknesses have TPE put in them. CH = Checking: 85 FI = Fighting: 25 DI = Discipline: 62 SK = Skating: 91 [2/12] ST = Strength: 90 EN = Endurance: 90 DU = Durability: 50 PH = Puck Handling: 94 [3/12] FO = Face Offs: 81 [3/8] PA = Passing: 99 SC = Scoring: 88 [6/8] DF = Defense: 90 PS = Penalty Shot: 78 Stats from past 4 seasons: Regular Season: 200 Games Played || 86 Goals || 112 Assists || 198 Points || 782 Shots || 384 Hits Playoffs:(3 Seasons*) 44 Games played || 20 Goals || 21 Assists || 41 Points || 91 Hits *+/- is not in the list because I feel it is a team stat/line stat. Example: I'm on the Wolfpack who has won 2 cups and has finished 1st in the east 3 times and won the presidents trophy twice. Of course my +/- looks sexy. Strengths of the build: Datsyukian Dekes Due to Bure's high puck control stats (SK, ST, PH, DF, PA) Bure has excellent control of the puck which he can use to give his teammates chances to score. Although not confirmed, these stats could also be the reason he scores so many goals despite being labeled as a playmaker. Bure is difficult to take the puck off of and produces chances as a result. 20 Goal scorer The build has been a consistent 20 goal scorer the past 4 seasons despite the TPE difference between passing and scoring. 40 Point man Bure has been able to get 40 points for the last 5 seasons in fact, the build provides a healthy amount of goals and assists alike. No sissy Bure has usually thrown 100 hits per season since S31 and threw about 50 hits in S30. Penalty Killer His defense being at 90 is mostly the reason he is put on the PK but also due to his high passing, he isn't likely to give up the puck in a shitty turnover either. Shoot the damn puck! The build averages around 200 shots in a season, adding his average goal market, he scores around 10% of his shots. Playoff MVP Many players are seen to have amazing regular seasons while having pitiful post-season performances. Bure is proven to be a driving force in the playoffs from his Anton Ratzov trophy just 2 seasons ago. Weaknesses: Coach has no clue This is more from Eggy but Bure has had all sorts of different linemates, some score and some pass. GMs like matching up playmakers with snipers as an example, Bure isn't really either of those two types as he's like a combination of the two. It could be fairly difficult to find the right linemates for Bure. No Danny Briere While Patrikov Bure has a Ratzov, he has had some pretty bad playoff runs. He will either lead a team past a series by himself, or go completely silent against certain teams. Just wanted to say thanks for everyone that took the time to read even a quarter of a look at this. I'm not quite sure if I'll have the time to do this for every S24 players but I'm certainly gonna try my damn hardest to do so. The next player I'll be looking at is Randy Randleman if you are wondering. ![]() Registered S39 Challenge Cup Champion

198 in 200 is pretty damn good. I liked this article, it's cool to hear about the progression of players that I've only really seen in the "prime" phase of their careers.
