For the St. Louis Scarecrows, Dermot Lavelle has been leading the way as the team's 1C. He is currently one of two centers in the SMJHL this season who is maintaining a PPG average or better (the other being fellow Irishman Paddy Kane-Rielly). Lavelle has potted 11 goals on the season so far, and set up another 20 for a total of 31 points over 31 games, well-rounded totals that make him good for 10th in the SMJHL in assists. On a team with many prolific shooters like St. Louis, Lavelle has taken full advantage setting up scoring opportunities whenever he can, including his 5-point night season opener for the Crows, in which he got a goal and set up 4 more.
Not only has Lavelle racked up the points, but he has also been a possession monster, as evidenced by the swift centre's +/- rating of +14, tied for second-best amongst all players in the league. Not only is Lavelle putting pucks in the opponent's net, but he's stifling opposing team's scoring chances. The Scarecrows are the best faceoff team in the SMJHL, and Lavelle is a big reason why. While behind his teammate, FO % league leader Joakim Lindqvist, Lavelle ranks 5th in the league in the same category, winning over 55% of his face-offs. With a strong game both defensively and offensively, Dermot Lavelle looks to dominate the opposition at every opportunity he gets. ![]() ![]() Thank you to Ham and Sulo for the sigs!

When it comes to top performing players, I'd say the St. Louis Scarecrows have three major standouts on the ice, and one off the ice. If you want results, you want Dermot Lavelle, Logan Jensen, and Seth Paige.
<a href='index.php?showuser=2815' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>White Cornerback</a> Lavelle is our top line enter and he can honestly do everything. He's dynamite at faceoffs (winning 55% of faceoffs he takes), he leads the team in plus/minus at 14, and he leads the team in assists. Honestly, if he was not playing with a pure goal scorer like Giuseppe Risolo, he'd probably be burying more pucks in the net and lead the team in goals too. But right now the scoring title belongs to someone else. Right now Dermot is ranked second in the league behind Kane-Rielly, who also leads the league in points, Nothing to sneeze at. <a href='index.php?showuser=2739' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Loganjj21</a> Jensen is our top goal scorer, and I'd say he's earned it. He's only playing on the second line and he still leads the team with 15 goals, and he's also shown to be an effective play maker with his 15 assists. Here's a really crazy stat of his though: Jensen leads the team with 123 shots and next player behind him is Lavelle with 84. But... Jensen is still putting pucks in the back of the net 12% of the time. It's not like Jensen is taking shots from bad angles constantly, he's just able to put himself in a scoring position that often! It helps that 6 of goals came on the power play, but with how rough our power play has been this season, it''s nice to know there's one guy that can put the puck in the back of the net when we have a man advantage. Jensen is tied for 2nd in the league in goals with 4 other players, showing he really is one of the best goal-scorers in this league. <a href='index.php?showuser=1336' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Šatan</a> Paige is just about everything you want in a defensive number one defenseman. He's second on our team in hits with 58, he's second on our team in minutes played (because The Dude was double shifted on the power play) at 22.12 a night (or 686 total thus far this season). Being defensively minded does not mean he can't put up points, though. Paige leads all defensemen on the Scarecrows with 19 points, 18 of them coming from assists. He's a top notch puck distributor that you can always expect to be in a good position on the ice. Paige is tied for 9th in points for a defensemen in the league, but he brings so much more to the table than points, it's hard to look at just points to really decide his value to a team. <a href='index.php?showuser=2805' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-17'>Dude</a> Off the ice can be just as important as on the ice, and we have someone who does everything right off the ice. The Dude. He's been a stellar captain this season, he's been a personal mentor of mine, and he leads the team in minutes played because he's the kind of guy you want on the ice as much as possible. He has experience and composure. The kind of intangible thing that can really calm things down out there because everyone knows he's the kind of guy that'll make a great play if the other team gives him the chance. The other team gets scared, and our guys become more confident. So I know we were asked about on-ice statistics, but when a guy is in the weight room every day, connecting with guys away from the ice, and mentoring his teammates to become better people and players, that needs to be noted. It's just as important, if not more important, than the on-ice results of a player or two. You won't find a better captain in the SMJHL. ![]() Site Management Index Dad
Ever since the beginning of this season, one player from the St Louis Scarecrows has stood out. This player is, first line center, Dermot Lavelle. As of game 33 he isn't the top scoring player on the team, but this outstanding Assistant Captain for the Crows likes to show off his playmaking skills. He leads the team and is tied for 10th in the league in assists with 20. Not only is he good at making passes to teammates, he also finds himself in the right places at the right time. With a positive 14 plus/minus, he leads the and just about leads the league at 2nd place in plus minus. Face-offs are his strong-suit, with a 55.66% face off percentage, Lavelle is one of the team and league leaders in this statistic. Playing over 20 minutes per game, Dermot Lavelle has outstanding endurance. He is 4th in the team for the stat and just in second for skaters.
This season you can also find other outstanding performers on the ice. Thé Dude, the team captain and 2nd in defenseman scoring on the team, is showing that he is absolutely ready to take on any opponent that comes his way. With 3 goals and 16 assists, this player has racked up 19 points in 33 games. This is just one of the many outstanding increases from his 9 point rookie season last year. Dude doesn't like to take many penalties but manages to keep up his hit total in the process. With just 2 penalties to his name, he is one of the most disciplined skaters on his team. With being disciplined comes the fact that he doesn't rack up many hits. This makes one of his weaker stats his 4 hits. This doesn't take away from the fact that he is an outstanding player and has a bright future ahead of him in the SHL. Though the Scarecrows had a bit of a downwards spiral earlier in the season, they have taken the fact that, "when you hit rock bottom there is no other way but up," quite literally and have been winning consistently. The St Louis Scarecrows are a team with a lot of talented skaters and goaltenders. Be sure to keep your eye out for them when they make it to the playoffs. Pass Forfeit (D) ● Player Profile

There are three players that stand out currently for the Vancouver Whalers this season: Shaun Stephens, Dude Love and Ostap Maksimov.
The Whalers are not currently in a playoff spot, but it would be even worse without Shaun Stephens as he is the team’s leading scorer. Shaun has posted 15 goals, and 19 assists for 34 points this season, in 33 games! Shaun is also averaging over 24 minutes a game, which ranks him first on the Whalers. The next player is Dude Love, who is arguably the Whalers best defenseman this season, posting 9 goals, and 16 assists for 24 points on the season. He is posting these impressive numbers while staying out of the box, and only post 19 penalty minutes during the season so far. Love has also been impressive on the power play by posting 11 points so far this season. Finally, is rookie Ostap Maksimov, who was the third defenseman taken this season by the Whalers. Maksimov currently leads rookie defenceman on the Whalers for points with 1 goal, and 10 assists for 11 points. However, Maksimov leads the team in plus minus with a plus 8! Another impressive stat for Maksimov is his 46 blocked shots, which ranks second on the Whalers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered AKA: Dangies
When talking about our leaders I think we have to look no further than hulking winger Dick Skillstedt. The Swedish power-forward leads the Whalers in hits with 79; Only two players in the league have more than the young winger from Skellefteå, Sweden. Dick only has 17 points in 33 games but he is 4th on the team in total shots but seems to be suffering the effects of a bad date with lady luck. Skillstedt is burying less than 7% of his shots despite having arguably the best shot on the team.
One of the more underrated aspects of Dick's game is his puck moving ability; he has taken only 17 hits while lugging the puck ,which the least among all regular Vancouver skaters. The big body of the Swede appears to scare many skaters off which allows him to move the puck in the right direction. Skillstedt is tied for second in +/- among forwards on the Whalers and considering how the team has been performing I think this classifies him as a good contributor. I have no problem saying that Skillstedt and his physical prowess makes him one of our top players this season and once his unlucky streak is over and the points come flowing in he will be considered a top skater in the entire league! ![]() Registered Default User Title:
If anyone had to pick a key player from the Halifax Raiders, even with the tough season the team has been having it would have to be Vet, Lukas Müller. Even though the Raiders have been suffering with the goals against, 116 to be exact, the most in the SMJ this season. Müller has been able to keep above the barricade of +/-, 1 of only 2 players on the team to do so. He currently has a +/- of +1. With that being said, another key point for Müller is his undying courage to get the puck to the net. This can be shown with his amazing amount of points especially coming from a struggling team. Müller has 31 points, just one point shy from a point per game record which is almost an impossible feat for anyone on a team like the Raiders who have been struggling this season. Finally Müller's TOI, 24.09 averaged minutes per game (Date while writing this) has been showing the rookies on the team, if you work for it you get it. Next season Müller may or may not be on the team, however it is going to be a huge loss for the team and the league as he is a phenomenal player/defensemen.
[211 words] ![]() ![]() Registered Member ![]() ![]() Despite an up and down season for the Colorado Mammoths, I have to tip my hat to our starting goalie Aleksandr Aleksandrov who has been a driving force in Colorado staying competitive within the playoff race. Aleksandrov has been the busiest goalie in the league, tied only with St Louis's Johnny Yuma at 33 games played, which is a testament to the resiliency and endurance of the young net minder. While the Mammoths may be sitting at a tenuous sixth place overall, Aleksandrov's second-best save percentage of 0.888% and third-best GAA of 2.80 have kept the team relatively competitive as we continually strive to get more consistent offensive output from the team in front of him. These stats are made more impressive when he has faced 788 shots compared to the leagues top goalie, Cédric Moreau, who has faced a mere 668 shots and played six fewer overall games. The overall workload on Aleksandrov and his ability to weather the storm, has been my key factor for the Mammoths still sitting in their current playoff placing, and will be a key factor for the team to rally around as we move further into the season, and the rest of the team starts rewarding the stalwart goaltending they've received thus far. ![]() San Francisco

The Raiders’ top three scoring forwards are Bar Downski, Yannick Berger and Kevin Hamilton, with eighteen, twenty and twenty one points each. However, for the Raiders, the buck stops at defenseman Lukas Muller, who leads the team with thirty one points and is third on the team with seven goals. In a season mired in the SMJHL’s basement, Muller has been a rare bright spot. Muller is the team’s leader in powerplay points, ice time, blocked shots, He also had the distinct of being one of only two players on the roster with a positive plus/minus, albeit only +1. At this rate it seems like if the coaches would let him, he’d lead the team in faceoffs.
Not unexpectedly, Muller being a defenseman, he is the lowest scoring leading scorer in the league. Also unsurprising, with the Raiders’ struggles directing shots on net, he is only fourth in scoring among defensemen. In ice time per game he is second only to Vancouver’s Shaun Stephens. He is fourth in shot blocking, but none of the players ranked ahead of him are closer to his scoring total than ten points, which is an excellent testimony to Muller’s versatility as a player. Uncharacteristically, he only ranks tenth among defensemen with 49 shots. ![]() ![]() Registered Member
The current top scorer on the Kelowna Knights is a defenceman, Noah Nørup, with 33 points in 32 games played. Noah is the third highest scoring defenceman in the SMJHL just short of Tatu Mäkelä (DET) who has 35 points, and Connor Tanner (MTL) leading with 38 points. Noah is putting the team on his back not as a 1st pairing defenseman with Kelowna but he is currently placed as the second pairing defenseman. Without Noah Nørup the Kelowna Knights would not have anyone having a point per game season. The other players who bring points to the team both happen to be right wingers. Lyndis Vakarian on the first line has 28 points in 32 games played with 16 leading goals on Kelowna. Finn Jakobsen propels the second line rocking 26 points in 32 games played. With those two players bringing up both the first and second lines. Even though Kelowna's players are not at the top of overall points, Noah Nørup leads the SMJHL with 28 assists, one assist over SMJHL point leader, Paddy Kane-Rielly (PGF). Lyndis Vakarian also is 4th in the SMJHL with 16 goals scored in 32 games played, two behind the goal leader.

Noah Nørup leads the Kelowna Knights in points for the season with 33 in 32 games. Although only 5 of those are goals, the fact that he has 28 assists is nothing short of amazing. Noah has been a massive help to his 3rd place Knights this season, setting up goal after goal. His +/- of 4 also shows that he isn’t just helping score goals, he is also very good on the other end of the ice preventing them. Noah Nørup has a few faults though. He has racked up 18 penalty minuites and that is too manyfor a leading scorer on any team. Kelowna is an odd team in terms of star players. They do not seem to have as many points as other top scorers on other teams. Paddy Kane-Rielly from Prince George Firebirds has 42 points and a +/- of 12. But Kelowna as a team have more depth in their scoring not to mention a lot of rookies, so the scoring will most likely change come playoff time and Noah probably will not do as well unless his actual goal scoring picks up during the final stretch of the season and the playoffs. None the less, Noah has done pretty well so far, and he is giving a lot of support to his team and playing a selfless game.

Connor Tanner
Connor Tanner has been more than a key player for the Montreal Militia this season! In his first season playing as a forward, Tanner has so far accumulated 38 points in the 33 games he has played, the best record on the team, and 13 of those points have been goals. Connor also has a very good plus / minus rating of +11, one of the best on the team and in the top 10 in the league. As said before, Tanner's point total is the best on the Militia, and he currently stands as the second best goalscorer on the team as well, proving he is a serious threat. Tanner's 38 points puts him in 3rd place in the league, two points ahead of his nearest follower and with a chance to earn the top spot if he continues to play in the way he has done. Besides just the points and goals that he scores for the team, Tanner is a natural leadership figure who everyone can look up to, and it would not be possible to put a value on the advice and help that he offers to the team, especially to the less experienced members. Connor Tanner is truly a key player on the Militia and they would not be in the strong position they are currently if he wasn't there. I think being on PGF, it's easy to write about the great Paddy Kane-Rielly. He's been dominating the league this year so far. He's leading the league and he's scored 42 points this year. That's three more points that the next in the league, who is his linemate Dionyz Vyskoc. He's sitting 7th in the league in goals with 15, and 2nd in the league in assists with 27. And these stats are not because PKR plays more than everyone else, as his points-per-20-minutes is 1.19, sitting at 5th in the league. Now we could focus on scoring forever when talking about PKR, but what impresses me is that his defensive game is pretty good as well. He's dominating the face-off dot, at 53.75% right now, good enough for 7th in the league. PKR also sits at 7th in the league for plus-minus at +12. While some people think plus-minus is a broken stat, this shows that PKR scores a lot and is able to keep it out of PGF net as well. PKR has also been leading the league in scoring all year so it's not like a hot start has carried his stats. Throughout the entire 33 game season PKR has been the best player in the league by far.

Detroit Falcon's Top Performers
It's easy to look for production when you start the season as hot as the Falcons have. In their first 34 games, the Detroit club is a healthy 22-7-5, and sitting pretty atop the SMJHL standings. Leading the way offensively for the Falcons is a trio of skaters. Center Kevin Marks, right wing Francesco Bellucci, and defenseman Tatu Mäkelä. Tatu is currently leading the Falcons with a stat line of 9 goals and 27 assists for 36 points on the year. Bellucci is right on his heels, pouring in a team leading 15 goals, and 19 assists for 34 points, and Marks is doing his share with 11 goals and second on the team with 22 assists for a respectable 33 points. It's easy to see why Marks and Bellucci are producing together, as they have shown great chemistry thus far in the season. Mäkelä is in his second year with the Falcons and put up a respectable 28 points during his rookie campaign. Bellucci and Marks threw up 43 and 40 points last year, respectively, and are looking to better those marks this season. This trio of players have shown the way for the eight rookies on the S38 squad, and there might not be better role models on the ice than these three. We're looking for Detroit to keep up it's frantic pace, and possibly bring home a repeat championship. 236 words ![]() Registered Classless, Assless, Deaf, and Dumb
Prince George is a team that is loaded on front line talent and picking a single player from our top line is really difficult. We have so many great forwards and when is comes to offensive wingers in the whole SMJHL Dionýz VyskoÄ (<a href='index.php?showuser=1119' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>artermis</a>) is the go(a)lden standard. Dio has been the winger goaltenders fear in the league slotting in a league leading 19 goals in 34 games on 16% shooting. On top of his ability to score the puck, he is terrific at finding his teammates as he has 22 assists which ranks him 7th in the league which leaves him with 41 points in 34 games which gives him a points per game over 1, which is an outstanding achievement. He has done all this while also showing great discipline and only accumulating 8 penalty minutes so far. He really is a great player to look up to since he has such an incredibly well rounded game as he also boasts a +11 which shows he doesn’t only help on the offensive end. As a young winger, I really hope I can develop into a similar player to Dio. Hopefully we as a team can come together and get a cup for such an incredible player. #GetDildoACup
