The Beginning of a New Era
#1

The Winnipeg Jets have gone through a roster overhaul. Their top 4 players were shipped out this off-season in favour of rebuilding and going with a younger squad. The 4 players all go to contenders, as was their wish, to try and capture that elusive Challenge Cup. It's a bittersweet moment for GM Damian Littleton, who developed a friendship with Armin Brovalchuk, Jordan Hall, Brandon Donini, and Willie Weber. Their relationship ends without winning the Challenge Cup together and Littleton had to face the fact that a rebuild was the best way to go. One by one, the 4 players were sent away from Winnipeg. Armin to Toronto, Jordan to Hamilton, Brandon to Los Angeles, and Willie to Edmonton. The goal was to acquire young, active prospects and high draft picks and Littleton feels like he achieved that goal. Here is a compete look at the trades, combined into one.

Leaving Winnipeg:
Armin Brovalchuk Stars
Jordan Hall Steelhawks
Brandon Donini Panthers
Willie Weber Blizzard

To Winnipeg:
Randy Bobandy
James Neugsbaur
Ryan Haan
Jan Benda
Victor Helstrom
Dennis Seidenberg
S16 EDM 1st
S17 LAP 2nd
S16 HAM 1st
S16 LAP 1st
S17 conditional TOR 1st
S17 TOR 2nd

The Jets walked away from the 4 big trades with youth, activity, potential, depth, and 6 high draft picks.

It was a long process, but GM Damian Littleton feels very confident in the returns he got for his former top 4 players. Adding these pieces to their existing roster is a big step in the right direction of a successful rebuild. The players have bought in and are ready to lead the Winnipeg Jets through this new era.

GM Damian Littleton is available for questions.

Will you be retiring your player to help with the rebuild?

All of them brought something special to the team. No way to judge each, we're going to miss them all.

No. Uppercut is still a ways away from regression and we need a proven player on the blue line to help out the young ones.

While I respect your feelings towards other players in the league, I had absolutely no problems with any of the 4 players I traded. To each his own, though.
