Talent does not equal success is my point. Once again I'm not arguing I'm a successful GM to this point.
And that wasn't an example of strawman fallacy. It was using a prior argument as a reasoning that not everything can be broken down statistically when it comes to something like skill.
It was a strawman fallacy you extrapolated his argument to an extreme to make it easier to attack in a context that has 0 to do with this.
Talent has to equal success at some point or it's useless, having a useless talent is the same as being talentless.
“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”

No seeing as it wasn't used as a way to make my stance more valid. I was simply trying to see if he would stand by his argument with that reasoning. If it was a strawman fallacy what I would have been doing was using that argument to attempt to make my argument more valid. Which isn't what I was doing, JT has said Peyton Manning is a better QB than Brady in the past, yet his current stance was directly opposite to that. It wasn't an attempt to compare the two and my post never said anything close to that. I simply asked a question
Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

That's the purpose of you doing it hoping he'd said no since it's a player he likes versus one he hates and if he said no it'd make you more valid
You still haven't addressed how you can decide if you have a talent if results aren't shown.
“The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. ... There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.”
JT on multiple occasions has said that Peyton is better than Brady because his regular season stats are better.
and that championships dont determine how good a QB is
im not sure if he was arguing to argue (which we do with each other alot)
but i can see where maxy was coming from with that question

That wasn't the purpose. I wasn't attempting to make my point valid, it was to see if he'd keep by his statement prior, or if he'd change it now to match his argument here
And talent does not equal success. You can be very talented at something and not have any documented success of doing so. It's more complicated than that. In this case, success isn't everything to being a talented GM. And having success doesn't necessarily make someone a great GM either. It works both ways

Having success = great GM. Fact. If you're winning that's all you need.

Quote:Originally posted by JayTee@Sep 21 2013, 07:50 PM You are also equating success of a player to success of a GM which is very weak.
Peyton Manning is a better QB based on statistics
Tom Brady is more successful.
You as a gm have shown neither.
I'm not equating that at all I've never said that it was in correlation to the discussion we were having. I was saying your past comments about the question I posed were opposite to what your argument was here. I didn't attempt to (Or if it was perceived that way I certainly didn't mean it) use that as reasoning that I'm a better GM than someone else

Guess that's where we differ, being successful doesn't make you great to me. In a league like this I don't see statistical success as important as other things mainly because it's been proven through the sim that it's quite random

HOFF is amazing at finding the right words that I can't think of

It's been praised for it's awesomeness, now we're having a spirited conversation which I think is good since it's not being dragged down by someone getting bent out of shape like quite a few discussions on here can. I think everyone accepts that this is based on opinion.
