I would put a max on contract length, and make it like 3 seasons per contract max, that way you won't get rookies signing 15 year deals and still making 2M when they are 1500 TPE. Those discount deals are one of the ways you can open up salary cap to try and land a big FA.

I agree..don't think auto bumping is the answer. Maybe make the first contract 3 seasons and if you resign you're able to sign for up to 5 seasons as your hometown discount. I don't really see any way that having a minimum cap will hurt, I don't do graphics and an extra million or 2 salary means I don't need to put out as many articles each season and I'm sure there are enough people with the same mindset as me that it won't always be minimum contracts no matter what
