Sami Owens is currently playing in the Prospect showcase for the first place Outlaws through 5 games. The Outlaws are 3-0-2 thus far into the showcase. Sami Owens has been pretty good thus far netting 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points so far in the tournament. He also has been fairly physical with 8 hits and 4 shots blocked. The Outlaws have quite some good defenseman on their team with Arthur Dayne leading the way for the team with a whopping 9 points in the tournament which is good for tops for defenseman too. One area Sami Owens is going to have to improve is physically. Owens needs to be use the body more often and try to become a physical threat on the ice. Another area he needs to improve is his defense. Although his defense is not terrible right now, it needs to improve a bit. He definitely has the defensive IQ to pass in the SMJHL but he needs to put it together along with his game. Based on the competition Sami Owens has been a bit disappointing thus far, but he is also pretty raw physically so in reality he needs more time to develop his game, compared to some of the other prospects in the tournament. Other than that, he has been decent thus far, but a lot of improvements are needed.
