Were it not for a recent stretch of mediocre play from the Mammoths, they would still be sitting in first place. The Mammoths' offense has been fantastic, leading the league with 3.31 goals per game, while their defense has done relatively well, allowing 2.74 goals per game, for an impressive 120.56% GF/GA, meaning that the team scores 20% more goals than it has scored against it. The special teams in Colorado are also league-leading. The power play has a success rate of 25.34%, and the penalty kill an 80.28% success rate. The main problem for Colorado appears to be one of overall shot suppression and generation. While the Mammoths don't allow a ton of shots against them in the traditional sense, they are 7th in the league for shots against, and middle of the pack in shots. This will have to improve for a deep playoff run, as it will help their goaltending, and make the other goaltender face many more shots. Overall, though, the Mammoths are a solid team that has run into a bit of a rough patch. While the shots for/shots against issue is there, it is relatively minor, as the Mammoths are still humming offensively. Barring a sudden fall off of a cliff, they're in good position.
