Task 1
Top 5 playoff Rookies 1. Nour Harrak- Harrak from the Knights is arguably one of the best rookies of the S36 SHL draft. His playoff numbers are off the charts and you can say that he sprouted during these few games. The newcomer was able to slot 6 goals and 6 assists in his 12 games played. The right wing also has the best +/- in his team with 6 and also does not shy away from hits. He is also the only player on the team to have a P/20min greater than 1. He is one of the most active members on the site and sky is his limit. 2. Mercer Church- Church is another rookie from Knights and has evolved during the playoffs. He was centering the first line and was also able to put up impressive numbers for a rookie with 5 goals and 6 assists. He is one of the best centers in the draft and also has an accurate shot. Him and Nour on the same line would be deadly. 3. Dionyz Vyskoc-Vyskoc of the Firebirds only played 6 games in the playoffs but in the small duration, he was able to reveal the type of player he is. He has a great caliber as he was able to get 7 points in 6 games. His p/20min is also greater than one and also has a fairly accurate shot. He will be a key piece on the firebirds for the seasons to come. 4. Colton Hagan- Hagan is another highly touted rookie and his playoff result was satisfactory. He had 4 goals and 4 assists during the playoff run and was a hitting maniac leading the team with 48 hits. His two way game is strong and he is expected to keep playing his gritty role to tire his opponents. 5. Casey Creller- Creller is another highly touted rookie alongside Hagan who also plays for the Mammoths like Hagan. Creller plays a good two way game as a defenseman. He was able to register 7 points and 14 shots blocked. He is another rookie that is expected to go within the first round. Task 2 The Halifax Raiders had the worst start to begin the regular season and many were saying that it is a sure fact that they will finish last in the season just like s34. When the season began, it certainly did look like a deja vu of s34 as the Raiders lost more than 70% of their games to start. This is horrible way to begin and may even be demoralizing at first. But if we look at the big picture, one can easily understand that this was greatly plausible for this team. The Raiders are a team primarily composed of Rookies. In fact they have more rookies than any other team and have minimal second years playing. Thus just by this, you can easily conclude that the team won't be doing too well as many players are going through the development phase. Our only two 2nd years were Grogan and FourFour who played well. Apart from them, the major roles were being filled by us rookies. THe Raiders have one of the most active rookies in the league and it is no surprise that they won 10 out of their last 15 games. THis is because the Raiders are very hungry in earning TPE and have potentially numerous rookies that will go in the first round of the SMJHL draft. One of them being Cody Fletcher who has immediately revealed to the SHL world what she is capable of. With the Rookies climbing the ladder so fast, s36 looks very bright for these folks and expect them to give other teams a run for their money. Task 4 In my opinion the battle for the playoff MVP is not even close. There is one player that stood amongst the best and demonstrated why he deserves to be there more than anyone else. This is none other than Carrick Murray of the Vancouver Whalers himself. The young goaltender was able to bring the Whalers to first in their division in the regular season and this carried them well into the playoffs as well as they were able to win the 4star cup. Sure the Whalers are a stacked team and that is the only reason why Murray was so good but this does not justify the man's speed and reflexes. Murray won 8 out of the 9 games for the Whalers meaning that they only lost once which is phenomenal. Murray's regular season success followed him well into the playoffs as well as he was able to demonstrate the same quality of play. His save percentage was 0.898 and his GAA was 2.37. The defenders did do a magnificent job to assist Murray as he only faced 226 shots in total. With that said, I don't think there is any other player that deserves to win the MVP more than this monster himself. Task 5 ![]() ![]() |
