Ever since the beginning of this season, one player from the St Louis Scarecrows has stood out. This player is, first line center, Dermot Lavelle. As of game 33 he isn't the top scoring player on the team, but this outstanding Assistant Captain for the Crows likes to show off his playmaking skills. He leads the team and is tied for 10th in the league in assists with 20. Not only is he good at making passes to teammates, he also finds himself in the right places at the right time. With a positive 14 plus/minus, he leads the and just about leads the league at 2nd place in plus minus. Face-offs are his strong-suit, with a 55.66% face off percentage, Lavelle is one of the team and league leaders in this statistic. Playing over 20 minutes per game, Dermot Lavelle has outstanding endurance. He is 4th in the team for the stat and just in second for skaters.

This season you can also find other outstanding performers on the ice. Thé Dude, the team captain and 2nd in defenseman scoring on the team, is showing that he is absolutely ready to take on any opponent that comes his way. With 3 goals and 16 assists, this player has racked up 19 points in 33 games. This is just one of the many outstanding increases from his 9 point rookie season last year. Dude doesn't like to take many penalties but manages to keep up his hit total in the process. With just 2 penalties to his name, he is one of the most disciplined skaters on his team. With being disciplined comes the fact that he doesn't rack up many hits. This makes one of his weaker stats his 4 hits. This doesn't take away from the fact that he is an outstanding player and has a bright future ahead of him in the SHL.

Though the Scarecrows had a bit of a downwards spiral earlier in the season, they have taken the fact that, "when you hit rock bottom there is no other way but up," quite literally and have been winning consistently. The St Louis Scarecrows are a team with a lot of talented skaters and goaltenders. Be sure to keep your eye out for them when they make it to the playoffs.
