Aleksandr Aleksandrov

Despite an up and down season for the Colorado Mammoths, I have to tip my hat to our starting goalie Aleksandr Aleksandrov who has been a driving force in Colorado staying competitive within the playoff race. Aleksandrov has been the busiest goalie in the league, tied only with St Louis's Johnny Yuma at 33 games played, which is a testament to the resiliency and endurance of the young net minder. While the Mammoths may be sitting at a tenuous sixth place overall, Aleksandrov's second-best save percentage of 0.888% and third-best GAA of 2.80 have kept the team relatively competitive as we continually strive to get more consistent offensive output from the team in front of him.

These stats are made more impressive when he has faced 788 shots compared to the leagues top goalie, Cédric Moreau, who has faced a mere 668 shots and played six fewer overall games. The overall workload on Aleksandrov and his ability to weather the storm, has been my key factor for the Mammoths still sitting in their current playoff placing, and will be a key factor for the team to rally around as we move further into the season, and the rest of the team starts rewarding the stalwart goaltending they've received thus far.
