Reflection on your season - how did your player fare on the ice this season? Did you meet or surpass your individual player goals or did you come up short? Whether you excelled or disappointed - what can you attribute that to? What will you try to do better next season? I think Simon LeBlanc had a pretty good season playing for the Atlanta Inferno for the second season in his career. He had a very very good start, and was almost point per game, but it seems he missed some gas to end the season as strong. Nonetheless, he had a better season, probably because he was not stuck playing with Geoff Moore, who was a very old regressing player that can't really play anymore, and now he played mostly with Guy Zheng, easily one of the best defenseman in the league. Simon had 5 more goals (7), 11 more assists (27), so 16 more points, for a total of 34 in the S57 season. He also had more hits and shot blocks and takeaways. So he outperformed himself not just defensively, but offensively too. If LeBlanc had kept playing the way he did at the start of the season, he would easily be the most improved player in the SHL. What is your player/team doing around the community/for charity this offseason? The Atlanta Inferno was knocked out of the playoffs pretty early, so Simon LeBlanc got bored very quickly. So, he decided to spend his free time by helping out the local community. First of all he went to meet some children in an hospital, to sign anything they have and talk to them to help them forget their pain for a little bit and also give them and their family hope. Also, Simon decided to give 5 million dollars to the families of the kids who couldn't pay for the hospital bills. It's something that really surprises LeBlanc, since that back home in Canada, healthcare is free. After that, LeBlanc also started going around in the streets with his hockey stick to find groups of kids that are playing street hockey, and play with them, just to have fun. He's not even trying hard, he really just wants to let the kids have fun and play with someone that they follow on a daily basis. (165 words) 4. Which SHL or SMJHL team was the best team to not make the finals this season and why? The very very VERY obvious answer here is the Toronto North Stars. Unfortunately for them, they play in the toughest division in the entire league, the Great Lakes Division. Toronto ended dead last in that division, BUT they had still a very good record of 34 wins, 26 losses and 6 overtime losses. That is a better record than 8 teams, and 3 of these actually made the playoffs, these teams being the Atlanta Inferno, the New England Wolfpack and the New Orleans Specters. If Toronto was in any other division, they would without a doubt make the playoffs. I think they are the only team in the SHL really being robbed of a playoffs spot, considering they still compete even if they have to play in a division containing Hamilton, Buffalo and Chicago. 12. Written, up to 4 TPE - Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE. Each answer must be 50+ words. a. The season series between these two teams was tied 3-3. Do you think either team has an advantage in this series or do you see it as a true toss up? I think every game will be a toss up sadly for both teams. Both of them are pretty much the best teams in the league and any of the players on the squad can make the difference at anytime. I think the goalies will be what makes the difference, and by that I mean which goalie will actually show up and play well. (63 words) b. Each of these teams boasts a very strong first powerplay unit - which team has the special teams advantage in this series? Honestly both of them are very close, but I think overall Hamilton has the edge. They perform better offensively, so if you give them a powerplay they will definitely take that opportunity to score. Chicago does have a very good team defensively though, so they will not let Hamilton score on powerplays that easily, so both teams really need to play at their best. (64 words) c. Which of these two teams' brandings do you prefer? Take into account colors, logo, name, location, and anything else you consider relevant. Definitely Hamilton. I think Chicago's is really not that interesting and super bland. The colors are okay, but the whole syndicate thing is really bad and uninteresting. Hamilton could use a new logo altough, considering they've had theirs for a while. They're branding is kind of stolen too, but i prefer a stolen branding than Chicago's. (56 words) d. Would you rather get a lap dance from Hugh Jazz, have a staring contest with Luke Atmey (velv's old player), reach for objects on high shelves with Dale Miller, or play League with Parker Smeb? Easily reach for objects with Dale Miller. He's a good friend of mine, and it's always nice to help out a fellow canadian and friend. I'm not a big fan of lap dances so I'll pass, staring contests are lame, and League is not a very fun game in my opinion, I didn't like playing it and I find it boring to watch (63 words) 15.
