S57 Championship Week

![]() Simmer General Dumbass of the Site Code: 1. Written, 3 TPE (150 words min.) The season is over in the Simulation Hockey League and the Chicago Syndicate are the Season 57 Champions. I have been waiting almost 2 full years to be able to say those words. On the ice this season Corey Kennedy did fairly well, although definitely a down season from his Scott Stevens award winning year previously. Though none of that really matters because his team, the Chicago Syndicate, beat the Hamilton Steelhawks for the Season 57 Challenge cup. They were the top two teams in the league all season and it was no real big surprise that they were facing each other in the end. What was a surprise was the Chicago ended up winning fairly easily. Individually Kennedy is starting to show some age and younger guys are starting to step up, which is great since, he leads the team in time played and minutes as a defensemen for almost a decade. Things are changing, but winning this year feels so sweet. Code: Code: This off season, Corey Kennedy, has decided to give back in a very him way. He is partnering up with his teammate Gunnar Soderberg to give back in the inner city of Chicago. They are going to run add campaigns and do some outreach at local animal hospitals and shelters. Both players are known animal people, who have dogs and animals of their own, so it was an easy decision for them to take it to this cause. In Chicago, the shelters can be over run with what people see as aggressive or violent breeds often sit in the shelter for long time. Kennedy is the owner of a Large Breed and knows the frustration that comes with people being timid of his goofy, big, lovable dog. He wants to let everyone know that just because a dog is big, different, or misunderstood, they deserve just as much love and can be loyal and well behaved dogs. Working with local shelters to help change that perception, is his off season goal, Gunnar just wants all the pets. Code: [b] The IIHF is upon us and we go into another year of who is going to win, who is going to lose, who is going to surprise. I think we will start off by saying that once again as always, The United States and Canada are the favorites for the title. That being said, you will see some sneaky good teams coming from Japan and Austria. I think a player like Daniel Smeb could surprise some people as usual and come out with a really strong campaign to beat the top teams. You might also see a young Irish team, do some shocking of their own. They have a really good mix of old and young and one of the best goalies in the league. It will be interesting to see if they can surprise some people as nobody really has looked at them very long this season. Another team who could surprise is Sweden. They are really good, but have an underrated value for sure. Code: 12. Written, up to 4 TPE - Pick up to 4 Challenge Cup related topics to write about! Each topic is worth 1 TPE.
