Trivia 1 - Cooliodude 4. 3 TPE - Origin Story I don't know very much about the Challenge Cup, especially since I am relatively new in the SHL, a Season 64 Draftee, so I will just make this up. The Challenge Cup was first originated from a group of people who had this love of hockey and hearing about all of the famous leagues, such as the NHL, the KHL, or even the AHL, they came up with the idea to create their own hockey league, the SHL. So the group of friends split their ways and recruited players for each of their own teams, eventually becoming the first SHL teams. The GMs put a fund together towards a trophy for the best team in the league to win, an incentive to bring players to their league. The Decided on the challenge Cup. Since Season 1, Every winning team has put their name on the cup, and every 10 years, they add a new ring to the cup to extend the cup. So on Season 70, the 7th ring on the cup will be placed! +3 TPE - #7 - Milestones 5. 3 TPE - Cup Check To me, obviously, the SHL is more prestigious in many ways. If you ask anybody in the SMJHL right now, they are trying to make their way up to the big leagues, or as I call it, The Show. The SHL cup is so much harder to win because the SHL has the luxury to pick and choose the best players to form their own team, making the skill level elite in the SHL. But the SMJHL is tougher to manage, by a long shot, mostly because you need to be wary of if your star players will move up to the SHL, and the money system down there is totally bonkers. Challenge Cups are more sought out because they are a sign you can, and did win with the Big Boys. But to have both under your belt would be awesome, but Challenge Cups look better on your resume. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
