Player task:
Why William Salming began to play hockey? Because he wanted to score points. As a child he admired players who scored a lot of points and were star players. Salming wanted to be a same kind of guy who is reliable point producer. That's why Salming began to play a game called ice-hockey. However, nowadays Salming is different kind of player. In the youth he still wanted only to score points as much as possible but today he is happy if can also prevent an opponen to score. William is two-way winger for Seattle and has learned to defend too. He values defending even more than attacking today. It is amazing after those youth years, you know. Not everyone can change a mind set like that but Salming needed to do it because otherwise he would not have been able to play in the SHL because when he began his career in SHL he was part of third line and needed to defend mostly, not attack. ![]() |
