Yes! Willie Miller did go to a special hockey school for up and coming hockey goalies. This is where he learned to hone his skills both on and off the ice. At most hockey schools, they teach you in conventional ways, but Willie never actually picked up a hockey stick until his 16th birthday. Up until then, he followed a special training regiment that did not allow him to use a hockey stick. This perfected his mind for the game before he ever had a chance to hit the ice, putting him far ahead of all the competition. With this nice head start he had, all that was left was learning how to skate. Unfortunately, Willie was awful at skating and had no sense of balance what so ever. Because of this, he decided his best course of action would be to be a goalie because they do not have to skate very much. This proved to be a great idea as he has now was two championships with Seattle and should have many more to come!
