After a long drawn out process of figuring out where we would be playing next season Thomas Liebold was extremely happy to find out that on top of being able to play in a normal professional ice hockey arena the Vancouver Whalers decided to have a special event for opening night. The special event for opening night is a teddy bear toss that benefits the children of a local hospital. After the first goal scored by the home team, fans are able to throw stuffed animals onto the ice and the Vancouver Whalers will skate around and scoop them up. If the Vancouver Whalers never score in the game the children in the local hospital never get any teddy bears and become sad if they do not have any other toys to play with. it has never happened before but if the Whalers get shut out on a game like this the town would probably riot and force the Whalers to relocate out of Vancouver because of how sad they made the children
