Earlier this week, during training camp, Kristian Seppanen sat the forwards on the roster down for a candid conversation about the needs for the upcoming year. It has been reported that Kristian Seppanen is aiming to have more shots blocked than their goalie has saves this season. When speaking with some of the forwards, one said that Seppanen requested forwards "hold them off until [Seppanen] get[s] in position, then get out of the way." Kristian Seppanen's obsession with blocking shots and holding the shot block record has become increasingly concern through the season. Leaked texts between his girlfriend and her best friend found that Seppanen 'sleep shot blocks' all night, and when he's in bed he mutters "get off the ice, I've got this one."

In response to these reports, Seppanen has spoken up. "Yes, I asked the guys to help me in achieve a goal - but I am neither obsessed, nor addicted. I have a healthy relationship with hockey, shot blocking, and my girlfriend. If I had known my conversation with the guys would end up like this...well, I would have just blocked my shots in peace."
