We have received an appeal from the St. Louis Scarecrows regarding this punishment. The issue revolves around player Chungledown Bim, and whether he was an IA playing on a line above active players. While Bim is currently IA, his last activity was on 2/15. Playoffs started on 3/17, and players are considered inactive after 30 days of inactivity, inclusive of the 30th day. That would make Bim’s inactive date 3/18, after the SMJHL playoffs began. With players’ status being locked once the playoffs begin, this would mean Bim is technically active for the entirety of the playoffs.

As such, we are overturning St. Louis’ punishment, as by the rules Bim was considered an active player heading into the playoff by a day. We would recommend HO clarify as well in the rulebook that a player is not IA until after the 30th day, as there was much debate and many questions as to whether a player officially becomes IA on day 30 or 31.
