While the argument is being made that this situation is arbitrary, the rulebook itself establishes 30 days. Not 30 days and 1 hour, not 30 days and 23 hours and 42 seconds. It says 30 days from last activity which was 9:18 central time on 2/15. This then establishes 30 days (or 720 hours) at 3/17 9:18 central time as the 30 day standard at which we use across the board. Playoffs started at 3/17 16:00 central time, which is 30 days and 6.7 hours from start of playoffs when Patty commenced. Being over the 30 day period.

The mere fact that this is being discussed as arbitrary, yet creating a whole new rule (Starting the inactivity on 2/16) makes no sense in rule book form. If you have to create a new rule to make the decision fit, then it isn't arbitrary at all it is simply stating it is a variable. We have a 30 day period... 720 hours... 43,602 minutes... I'm not doing the seconds.

If you need another example look at the SHL IFA Bidding. It is 24 hours for bid being made. It doesn't start the next day, it starts at true time.

Another is waivers, if a player was sent down they were in waivers for 24 hours, not additional minutes or seconds and it started as of the post.

Another is goalie call ups, SHL GMs need to give exactly 24 hours notice of the next sim. Not additional minutes or seconds and it started on the message.

Fact is every rule is quite literal and how this decision was made simple undermines not just past decisions of similar nature, but also suggests a rule exists that clearly isn't in the rulebook and even further now needs further definition down to the second and re-writing throughout every time referenced rule.
