The San Francisco Pride has done it again, winning all four of the playoff series 4 games to 2. Kind of makes it look more difficult than it actually was for them but they had a much easier path to the finals than the Tampa Bay Barracuda did. Sure, being the best team by far in the Western Conference helps but they were also the best team in the entire league…again. To get to their third straight Challenge Cup FInals, the San Francisco Pride needed to go through the Winnipeg Aurora (8th in the Western Conference), then the Seattle Argonauts (3rd in the Western Conference), and finally the New Orleans Specters (4th in the Western Conference). Not a walk in the park, but nothing the best team in the league couldn’t handle. The Tampa Bay Barracuda are making the second straight Challenge Cup Finals appearance. However, their journey to get there was much more difficult. Finishing 5th in the Eastern Conference, it was going to be an uphill battle. In the first round, they eked out a win against the Philadelphia Forge (2nd in the Eastern Conference) in seven games. Then they took care of the Atlanta Inferno (1st in the Eastern Conference) in six games. Finally, in another seven game series, they defeated the New England Wolfpack (4th in the Eastern Conference). Ultimately, San Francisco took care of business against Tampa Bay to win their third straight Challenge Cup, 4 games to 2 cementing their legacy as one of the SHLs most dominant dynasties ever. 13. I really think Czechia has a chance to win their first gold this season. I expect Jen to be a decent middle 6 winger, good production but nothing outstanding, but I think we have a chance with this roster. We are incredibly deep on both offense and defense, and we have a strong goaltender as well. I do think the usual contenders like Canada, Finland, and Sweden will continue to do well. I also expect a strong showing out of Latvia. As for teams I think will disappoint, I think the defending champions Norway will miss out on the playoff, and I also think Ireland misses the playoffs as well. (110 words, +2 TPE) 14. I honestly think the best part about the IIHF is the chaos. When you look at the SHL where the same #1 team has won 3 cups in a row, it starts to feel stale and predictable and takes the fun out of the playoffs. When you look at the IIHF, the randomness of the format is what makes it exciting. It’s similar to something like March Madness where a low ranked team can knock out a top team and shake the entire bracket up. If Canada, USA, Finland, and Sweden won every single season, it would start to feel as stale as the SHL and to a lesser extent the J’s do. It also helps that it can be less consequential, since very few players are earning their TPE to win IIHF medals. That being said, even though I love the format and chaos of IIHF, I can understand why people would be upset if the SHL playoffs were the same level of unpredictable, but I personally would love it. 10) I think the whole thing is just about consistency. Both in the NHL and the SHL I strongly believe it's about building a program and a group of talented people that want to be there, and just want to take a run over and over and over again. San Francisco has had lots of success with their playoff opportunities, whereas teams like Tampa Bay or Texas have come up just short a number of times. But with that being said, would anyone be surprised if Tampa Bay or Texas were to win it all next year? I doubt it. Those teams have great players that have shown remarkable consistency over the years. I think that all you can ask for is a dedicated bunch of players that will get you into the playoffs time after time, because anything can happen in the playoffs. If you go on a hot streak at the right time, you can get the job done-- but you can't get the job done if you aren't there. So the style of building San Francisco and Tampa Bay have done where you just get as many chances as possible, I think that's a huge key to success. Building up or trading and acquiring tons of players for "one big run" is rarely going to actually pull it off. (221) 14) I like the volatility of the IIHF as a bit of a counterpoint to the SHL proper. While I think we've seen some increase in parity over the years in the SHL the IIHF has always been a bit more high turnover, leaning towards strange results and cool runs. Lots of coaching changes, player movement, bracket realignments, all of that leads to exciting tournaments in the IIHF every season. (69) TPE Earned: 8/8 ![]() ![]() Registered Posting Freak

They have to plan for the potential loss of key pieces to their roster. This upheaval is unexpected and unplanned, leaving massive holes in rosters that general managers took years to put together. But part of their job is to plan for the unexpected so they have to adapt in order to continue to compete. Words: 73, +1 TPE Code: Code: 15. Written, 50 to 200+ words.- The Procrastinator Special! The San Francisco Pride have won the Challenge Cup for the unprecedented third season in a row. Winning the cup three times in a row is an impressive feat that is hard to do. But the Pride did it. They have put together a tremendous team that dominates the western conference year in and year out. They topple other western conference teams with ease while the east battles it out to the very end. So you could say that the west is less competitive, leading San Francisco to the repeated trips to the finals and ultimately hoisting the cup. But I would be mistaken if I didn’t just fault their conference. The team they put together in the Bay Area is phenomenal from top to bottom. Their players are always on top of the leaderboards as they pummel opponents in the regular season. They work as a well tuned unit that produces stellar results. Their chemistry together as a team is unmatched in the Simulation Hockey League. No matter the miracle run that Tampa Bay had to get to the finals, San Francisco was was waiting for them or anyone else who would stand in their way. So congratulations to them and best of luck next season for anyone who tries to stop them from going to the finals once more. Words: 216, +4 TPE ![]() ![]() SHL GM RIP Dangel

Old Reliable IIHF Analysis This season will be my final one with team Rhine in the WJC. It's been quite a fun adventure so far. I've had the pleasure of playing in what will be all four tournaments. Looking at the roster, I believe I am the only 450 TPE capped forward at this time, so Marineau is going to have to step it up and perform like one of the most experienced players on the team for them to have a chance. Looking back at the last tournament, nothing jumped out at me as surprising. Canada and USA both featured at the top of the tournament table while Rhine was towards the bottom in 10th. I don't see much changing in this tournament as the top countries are always the strongest. [128 words] +2 TPE Code: 15. Written, 50 to 200+ words.- The Procrastinator Special! The San Francisco Pride has come out on top for the third consecutive season! I feel like I'm writing the same thing as last season, where the Pride beat the Barracuda once again in six games. Once again, the Barracuda were in most games. They took a 2-1 series lead after three games but the Pride came right back and won the next three to win the cup. For the Pride, their offensive prowess was once again at the forefront of their successes. Forwards Logan Webb and Dominik Winters led the way with 34 points each in the playoffs. On the Tampa Bay side, goalie Tibuk Soonika stood out with their 2.99 goals against average and 16.14 goals saved above average. My favorite part of the series was game four, with San Francisco winning the game 2-1. An incredible game for the viewer, with Tampa Bay outshooting the Pride 43-29 but Justin Time stood on his head until Mercedes Bayle scored the eventual game-winning goal. The game was tightly contested with neither side wanting to give up any space to the other team, the embodiment of a playoff game and atmosphere.
