I don't think community votes are the best way of making these decisions, especially if some of the most contentious aspects of this proposal (retirement penalties, no hometown discounts) are being reconsidered.

we're axing the retirement thing, looking into possible hometown discount solutions. poll was probably wrong thing to do, but was only used to guage people's interest.

HTD available only in the LAST 1 year (or 2 as a compromise) of a players' career. If it's really about guys wanting to take "one last shot at a cup, and making that possible via a low pay rate" (and not about having a number of high TPE players through the entirity regression on the payroll for next to nothing), that should suffice.

FWIW, I think it would've helped if the original post was clear about "this poll is for feedback, not to determine for sure if this is a thing that will happen."

But yeah, probably would've been better to just make the post without the poll to generate discussion. (Not trying to yell at you; trying to give con-crit for the future.)

Sounds good to me; that just means folks will be committing to retiring their player a season ahead of time. Might want some option for players that change their mind.

Throwing out an idea: You could even say that it doesn't have to be your last season, but that you become eligible for one or two seasons of a hometown/cup-chasing discount once you enter regression. You can use that season or two whenever you'd like in your regression - you can keep playing after the discount season, but you'll cost full price again. (Just a thought; might be a bad one.)

Hmm, interesting idea. I like the guarantee of the last season (or 2) use because it forces players to seriously consider how "worth it" it is to use, and I'm willing to bet it'd cut down on people trying to abuse it... but I think your suggestion is a good one, and is a nice incremental compromise between it being available for all of regression, and my suggestion. I think either would be pretty effective.
