The Tampering Rule What was the original intent of it?

There would be a paper trail of that PM doe. But I doubt someone actually goes thru pms on a regular basis and looks for tampering
Not if the GM tells their player off-site (I'm talking hypothetically if we made it so tampering only applied to GMs). And like, obviously tampering now happens off-site, but you talk to your own team more often and more easily than you do random other people, so. I think it makes sense to have punishments for player tampering too.

I would say though that we should clarify a little more in the rulebook what tampering is. I don't think "I'd love to play with you someday" is tampering, from a GM or a player, but "you're a FA in S32, right?" "We've got a hole on our second line..." etc is.

We already allow public tampering, if you recall Deener's pitch to FAs media piece, that is allowable. Because all GMs can see it and weigh in with their own public pitches.

Heck the argument has even been (successfully!Wink made that open chats (discords, groupmes, etc) are not really private if a lot of people have access to see what you are saying.

Tampering is going through other methods where others can't see you and trying to convince players currently under contract to jump ship and sign with you, or demand a trade to you, or whatever. That's just being shady and sneaky and undermining other GMs

You can still slide in them DM's on groupme tho. This topic is really beat to death, and it will be every time tampering happens.

I'm truly sorry to have frustrated you, but you can sit there and type "it does its job very effectively" and show all the hatred for the brigade at the same time. I know you're at least smiling on the other end. You're just not that dumb, brother.

Listen I'm not saying tampering isn't happening, but it's important that we atleast have a rule in place, so that if someone IS caught, the punishment is devastating.

Public tampering is not only happening. It's rampant and even encouraged. Yet, I can accept what you're saying and I think that Baelor may have a solution that makes the rule almost obsolete. There should be some set of rules to keep the playing field as level as possible. I never was against that.

How many people have been caught tampering. 4? The punishment is so high because if you're not stupid it's so hard to catch. It's a deterrent but I don't think it effectively kills tampering except in short bursts around when people get caught.

The 2m contracts are a far worse problem than tampering would be even if "legal"

Because to some people it's not about coming to play with friends. It's to eliminate people offering dumb things like GM positions, captaincy, bonuses ect. That the team who legitimately owns the rights to your player should rightfully have. What's the point of the draft, or free agency if you can be sweet talked at any time. Might as well eliminate contracts altogether and just let people play wherever they want whenever they want.

The rental rule is to make rentals valuable. The amount of people who would just resign with their old team would basically ruin free agency and make rentals have no value on the trade market imo.

Ok, I can understand your first point.

I still think the rental rule shouldn't be any different from the NHL. But I won't lose sleep over it, I just never agreed with it.
