Oh, so building a great young team that will be making the playoffs consistently for the next 5+ seasons is a bad GM?

In the past two seasons, Maxy has built a GREAT young team. That is what I have personally seen.

So because he POTENTIALLY has a playoff team, that puts him top 3?

What I've seen is Maxy has yet to make the playoffs. He's one of two GMs since you've been here to not make the playoffs.

Now, if for the next 5 seasons his team actually does something, then he moves up. As of now he's proven nothing.

you can't have a great young team unless you have done something with them. Right now it is just a team with potential.

And BBH you measure skill in wins, titles, player production etc.
He has built the team, now it is up to the players if they will live up to the potential. It isn't up to the GM if the players all of a sudden go inactive.

Leafs is a great GM but is no where active enough to be first, and he rearely posts in the lr.

you don't have to post in the LR to be the best GM

This is purely based on skill.

Better scouting.

Just because he doesn't run his mouth in every single topic like you doesn't make Leafs inactive.

Uhhhh what....
You may rank Joe's skill higher than I rank Ace's skill, etc. What you perceive as the amount of skill a GM has is a matter of pure opinion.

In that LR, I wouldn't have either.

A measure of somebody's skill is purely opinionated, though.

Yes this. JT, that's your opinion on how to measure skill, although many people could have their opinion on how to measure it as well. I for instance, wouldn't measure skill purely on stats, but the roster and the GM's draft history.

Skill isn't the matter of opinion. Skill is measurable.

So you can say it is someones opinion that Steve Moore is more skilled than Sidney Crosby?

By your guys logic you are going to tell me Tambellini is a top 3 gm in the league.

Well usually the most successful GM would be the most skilled.

How good a team's roster is is opinion.

How good their draft history is, is opinion.

How successful they are is fact.

If you have the best draft history or best roster in the league and still can't even make the playoffs, then you are no where close to top 3.

Hey, he has a good draft history and a good roster! Who cares if they can't make the playoffs, he's already the best!

Not really anything due to scouting. Out of all my draft picks they've all turned out quite well and most trades I've made have been very even for both teams and benefited both teams equally. As far as drafting goes I've drafted 2 players who were SHL Gm's within the past season, both of which were moved due to that fact that they wanted the chance to GM. I'm not making a claim to be the most successful GM as I haven't proved that yet but also take into account that I've had 2 rebuilds abruptly ended short due to moving a player for their betterment setting me back. One thing I can say I feel I've done extremely well is trading, drafting and treating my players fairly and while it hasn't necessarily worked out on the record sheet yet. it's not due to lack of effort or skill. More due to extenuating circumstances beyond my control, and while yes I suppose I could have been selfish and neglected to give players like Toast, Velevra, HFFO the chances they were looking for (As I had no real obligation to do so seeing as they were all under contract for at least 2 more seasons at the time I let them have their chance) I had their best interests in mind. So no I don't see anyone who hasn't played for me to argue I'm anything higher than 10-12, but honestly I think you'd be hard pressed to find a player who has played for me that would downplay my skills as GM.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

For the Steve Moore thing, it very well could be their opinion on who is more skilled. It would be an awful opinion IMO, but it all depends on what this person is basing skill on.

Hey, I no where said Maxy is the best GM, nor did I say that what I was basing skill on was what Maxy's strong suits were.
