Hits don't make a player necessarily better than another. It isn't a measure of defensive play, either. Plus/minus? Garbage stat. Blocked shots? Only good for defensemen and even then players who are hemmed in their end more often get more shot blocks. Faceoffs? Only good for centers.

i agree with this, but hits do lead to takeawaysâ€¦so hits are kind of a decent measure of defensive play.
obviously not a perfect measure tho

Jesus, it was just used as a guideline so people have an idea what each number means. You know, instead of none of the voters having a consistent idea.

Can't we just enjoy the list? I love seeing this come out every season, and the effort that is put into it every year makes it that much better.

You are always going to have some bias, just like NHL power rankings, so it's not something you can eliminate.

I look forward to seeing the rest of the list as it gets revealed Smile
