Fruitvale Station - 8/10

Story about Oscar Grant who was killed early New Years Eve by BART Police after a party on the BART train. Basically shows the day of December 31st and shows everything Oscar did that day. This movie was heartbreaking and I was physically angered by the end of this movie. The officer claimed he mistook his gun for a taser which seems very farfetched. Michael B Jordan was fantastic in this film and was easily the standout. I don't like how Grant was shown though. He was still a criminal and they portrayed him as seem nice dude with a temper.

Safety Not Guaranteed - 3/10

Probably Aubrey Plaza's best acting performance by a mile. Mark Duplass was decent as well. The issue with this movie is that it is very convoluted plot wise and you felt like you wasted your time with the ending.

Just a very badly written movie even if there were some good acting spots.

Yeah Safety not Guaranteed was a mess. I love Aubrey Plaza and I like Mark Duplass, they were both great but the story itself was just a mess.

For like first hour it was building up to something cool.... Then it just deflated. It was an absolute mess.

See, I really enjoyed Safety Not Guaranteed. Good acting, good writing, and a very enjoyable story.

The Gambler 5/10

"Lit professor and gambler Jim Bennett's debt causes him to borrow money from his mother and a loan shark. Further complicating his situation is his relationship with one of his students. Will Bennett risk his life for a second chance?"

This movie makes you feel annoyed by Bennetts decisions, and his stupidness. You can pretty much predict every scene before it happens.

Would not recommend .

Frank - 8/10

I think this was one of Maggie Gyllenhalls best performances. She was abrasive, cynical and mean but at the same time loving and beautiful. At the whole, I don't really get this movie. If I had to take a stab at it I would say the overall message is that regardless of popularity and fame it is sometimes better just to keep in the lane you found joy in. Fassbender was also really good.

Absolutely phenomenal movie. I have heard great things about it but was't sold as I think Ben Affleck is pretty mediocre. But I put together a list of the best movies of the year (2014) that I will be watching over the next few weeks (Minus Guardians of The Galaxy and Lego Movie which I have already watched and loved) and this one was on it.

Great movie from start to end that had me guessing, never really was able to pick up what was going to happen next and I loved it.

From that list the remaining movies I have to watch are Blue Ruin, Live Die Repeat, Boyhood, Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, Interstellar, and Big Hero 6.

Loved the concept of the movie and I loved the whole movie but the ending ruined it for me

The whole time I was so excited to see how it would end how they would justify this madness and then... what?

I won't spoil anything but I think it fit perfectly given the way the characters were.

Was very surprised with this movie, I heard good things about it but was skeptical. I am not a Tom Cruise fan whatsoever, I legitimately can't think of like 2-3 movies I've enjoyed him in since his corny performance in Days of Thunder which is my favorite performance by him because I love the corny ass movie

Anyways, I went into this one with light expectations and a open mind and I was pleasantly surprised. The premise is pretty unique, I mean it's vaguely been done in the past but this one really took it to another level. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending, but I was a big fan of everything up to that. It had humor, action, good acting, pretty solid visuals and Emily Blunt. This one I don't think is on par with The Lego Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy or Gone Girl but it was certainly a great movie in it's own respects.

This might legitimately be one of my top 10 favorite pieces of cinematography I've ever seen. This movie is utterly flawless imo. It's not filled with action, it's not filled with overblown story lines, it's just 3 hours of absolutely believable acting, a touching story, and an awesome sound track. This movie takes place over 12 years of filming, yes you read that correctly, 12 years of filming. There's something incredibly fascinating about watching a story of people, watching them age and mature, and not have it be done through changing of the actors. Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette are both phenomenal, Patricia's character doesn't change much through the movie but it's the slight changes that make her performance great. Ethan Hawke's character matures and is great in his own right. But the two that really steal the show are the kids. Child actors are usually a nightmare, they're usually utterly unbelievable and just a pain to watch, but these two were different, they were great from the start and watching them grow up on screen, mature, yet keep the same acting style, keep the same character traits and progress naturally as characters is fascinating. Overall this movie is an art experiment that worked to a tee. It's something that doesn't come around often, and I doubt I'll find another movie I like this much again soon. This as of right now is my choice for film of the year.

Watched The Interview the other night, was pretty hilarious, expected a bit more, but only because I heard such amazing reviews from my friends and it put my expectations a bit too high.
