Sorry if I disagree on that account and think you're both being ridiculous. I trust Kanye (and Tarantino, especially think Maxy is being ridiculous considering Channing Tatum is a solid actor who has been in some good movies such as "Side Effects"), whatever comes out before those things are released fully aren't going to damper my hype for it.

Plus, I love 808's.
Channing Tatum is terrible. Side Effects was good but I didn't think any of that had to do with Chaning who put in a mediocre performance imo. But to each their own.

Thank you to My boys @Merica and @Ragnar for the lovely sigs!

Yes. I think to lose hype over an entire album from an artist I know you love because you heard two LQ versions of songs that are probably not even finished and then one full song that you didn't really dig. There is far too little information out now to be like "Well I'm less hyped, it's probably going to be 808's all over again, which I hated, so I'll probably hate this too".

It's like all the people who wrote off New England after one bad game against Kansas City. It's early yet and to write it off based on such little information is insane.

I haven't written off the album. Please stop postulating that. My hype has dropped as it is allowed to because I haven't heard great Kanye West since 2010. I have heard good Kanye and I have heard trash Kanye.

But you admitted to like 808s so it's moot.

Your Pats analogy is terrible btw. It is more like after the KC loss when some fans were like, "Uhoh, this may not be good." not writing off the team.

What do you think is trash Kanye?

I didn't say fans. I said people in general and watching ESPN after that, they absolutely wrote off New England and were asking when they would move on from Brady at that point, so don't give me that.

Anyways, based on what you said, I took it as you writing it off, which again, I think is ludicrous. Plus, I don't believe anyone's hype should drop for anything they're excited for based on releases before it comes out. If you were hyped for it, nothing should change that in my opinion.

I also remember the days when you were in love with Yeezus, now you're obviously not.

So you are telling me if Kendrick Lamar came out and said hey guys you know the song I just dropped? Ya I decided to just make a full singing album with the tamborine and the flute as backing instruments?

I am entitled to not be as excited for something after actually witnessing something from said thing I am talking about.

I also really like Yeezus still. Its a 8/10 album.

And Maxy I think the song he did about his daughter was trash and that 808s was trash.

Ya, because it's Kendrick Lamar. He's earned my trust that he'll deliver, just like Kanye has, even if you don't like 808's, because that's still 5/6 really good to great album.

Which is fine but I am allowed to be less excited about something after hearing/watching/reading something

And I'm allowed to think that's an idiotic way to look at something you haven't seen the final product of.

Would it be better if I said expectations? Because expectations can drop before an album releases.

And it is fine if you think an opinion of mine is idiotic. I think you liking 808s is idiotic but it doesn't make you an idiot so don't call me one.

Drake - If You're Reading This It's Too Late</div>

Legend: 8/10
-Drake gets his rap singing on in this track produced by PARTYNEXTDOOR. I really do like the production here, it is no amazing by any measure, but works really well. My favorite part of this song, however, is definitely the hook where Drake croons, "Oh my God, oh my God / If I die, I'm a legend". For some reason, his singing of it really works for me. His verses are also very good. Every Drake song is either a track to cry to or a track to get hyped to and bump in the whip. This is certainly the latter as Drake is getting his "Tough Drake" on here to great effect.

Energy: 7/10
-"I got rap niggas that I gotta act like I like / But my actin’ days are over, fuck them niggas for life, yea". RIP Tyga. Son should not have come at the King because Drake may be soft as hell at times, but it's always a poor decision to come after someone so popular who is able to body you so hard and so frequently. This beat from Boi-1da is really nice and, honestly, Boi-1da has been winning of late with production and this beat is yet another example as that as it is dark, moody, and works very well. It really manages to match Drake's "energy" here. The verses are solid as well and though not an amazing track, it just works all together.

10 Bands: 4/10
-On this track, the line that really popped for me was, "All my watches always timeless you can keep the diamonds / Treating diamonds of Atlanta like it's King of Diamonds", for what reason, I don't know, but it just sounds really good when Drake says it, haha. He has good flow and what not here, but I am not necessarily feeling his delivery. He feels largely uninspired on this track and ultimately, does not bring much energy to the song. The beat is good and all, but I am just entirely underwhelmed by this one.

Know Yourself: 7/10
-More braggadocio from Drake on this track as this beat from Boi-1da Bumps. Like capital B-umps. Honestly, nothing he says really stands out to me, but all I know is that this one bumps. Drake is pretty lackluster lyrically here, but on that hook, my God man, it makes me want to go up to Toronto and run through the city with my woes with this beat in the background.

No Tellin’: 8/10
-"You pick the casket, I'll put the nail through it". Drake just coming out swinging on this track and is leaving numerous bodies in his wake. Yet again, this beat from Boi-1da absolutely bumps heavily and Drake matches that energy on this one with strong verses and a hook I absolutely love. Oh and RIP ILOVEMAKKONEN, "Suitcase, I been living outta' suitcase / Still drinkin' Henny, if it's done, I'll take the D'usse / Oops, aye, fuck it, all you niggas two-faced / Got the club going up on a Tuesday".

Madonna: 3/10
-The first of a couple beats on this project made by Drake's boy, 40, the production here is great, which is why it is so sad that Drake's vocals do the beat no justice whatsoever. I am really hoping somebody out there hops on this beat and does it justice, because my boy Drake disappointed. His mumbling type stuff on the hook sounds horrible and then the verse is just a thing that exists. It does nothing for me and makes me feel no type of way. Man I wish this beat was not wasted like this. Drizzy owes 40 an apology for this.

6 God: 9/10
-Released a while back as a "loosie", 6 God now makes an appearance on this project and thank God because my God does this one slap. Boi-1da just keeps on delivering with awesome beat after awesome beat. Son doesn't disappoint in any sense of the word. This one just features Drake going in on this awesome beat and this time, he does a great beat major justice. It's more braggadocio from Drake and little in the way of individual lines standout, but as an overall song, this one is really, really good.

Star67: 8/10
-"Shut the fuck up, text from a centerfold / I ain't reply, let 'em know I read it though / Voice mail say she ready though". Drake's really taking that whole Mia Khalifa thing hard, eh? Now he's claiming he doesn't respond to centerfolds. I'm calling bullshit, Drizzy. The beat switch on this one is insanely nice as I really like the darker tone of the second half of this one. I also chuckled at the line, "Peace sign in the air like I'm Nixon". Overall, this one really works quite well. Not an amazing song, but it is certainly a good one.

Preach (ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR): 8/10
-PARTYNEXTDOOR is the autotuned version of The Weeknd and though he is not for everyone, I do generally like him and this track is no exception. His autotuned vocals work quite well on this track. I like his verse and his hook. In addition, Drake does his thing and has a good flow and delivery on this track as he spits his verse. The production here is also perfect for the both of them and compliments both of their skills nicely.

Wednesday Night Interlude (ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR): NA/10
-As this is a track by PARTYNEXTDOOR, I won't be reviewing this one, but all the same, it is definitely quite dope.

Used To (ft. Lil Wayne): NA/10
-Sorry 4 the Wait 2 review will be posted shortly. Check that review when it's posted for my thoughts on this track.

6 Man: 9/10
-"Boomin' out in South Gwinnett like Lou Will / 6 man like Lou Will, 2 girls and they get along like I'm... / Like I'm Lou Will, I just got the new deal / I am in the Matrix and I just took the blue pill". What an opening, fam. Drake's flow and delivery are not perfect on this one, but they both work very well. His lyrics are very good and work well for him and then, on top of that, the beat from 40 is insane. 40 just delivering like crazy here as well. As it stands, though imperfect, I thoroughly fuck with this song.

Now & Forever: 8/10
-Directed at Birdman and discussing his leaving Cash Money, Drake basically just keeps repeating "No more" on this track and man does he make it sound good. The beat is really nice here and Drake does his thing on it with a good flow, smooth delivery, and solid lyrics (alright fine, he doesn't just say "No more"). This track just feels smooth as hell and this beat was tailor made for Drizzy to do his rap singing on and he shows why that is the case on this track. Though this is not a lyrical masterpiece, like many Drake tracks it does not need to be, as that is not his goal, rather he just makes whatever he says sound great and this is exactly that.

Company (ft. Travi$ Scott): 8/10
-This beat is perfect honestly. Like, my Lord I am sweating from how hot this beat is like mm mm good. Insert several fire emojis right about here. Drake also does his thing here with that rap singing he is so well known for, dope verse from him with some commentary on the women in his life and how much he thinks she deserves better than him, but he'd still rather not be sleeping alone. I am also not a huge Travis Scott fan, but he does his thing on this one and honestly does improve the song a bit, which is shocking to me. Overall, this one is keeping me warm on cold day.

You & The 6: 8/10
-Drake's got a serious hard on for the the 6 now, eh? Discussing his mother and his relationship with her, Drake says "momma" about a thousand times and yet I do not mind. Odd, isn't it? Overall, this one is a touching song as you can really tell it comes from the heart. He does not hold back and speaks on numerous topics that concern his mother. When discussing his dad, I really dug the lines, "At least I been to a prison, at least I know what it's like / I used to rap on the phone, one of his friends doing life / And now I got me a Grammy, that could be part of the reason". Overall, this one really works and it is hard to hate on a track so personal, but luckily, I don't have to as Drake goes in, has good flow/delivery on this one, and the beat is super nice.

Jungle: 10/10
-Quintessential Drake, this track got me calling up my non-existent ex's to tell them I am sorry. The hook from this dude Gabriel Garzon Montano is perfect. Very soulful stuff and his singing is just as "soft" as needed on this one. Drake's got a great flow and delivery here as he sings his way through this track. Honestly, this one feels like a leftover from Take Care. Honestly, this is everything I could ever want from a Drake track, complete with tears and tissues. "Are we still good?" Well, I don't know about us, but you're still good, Drizzy, don't worry.

6PM in New York: 10/10
-In a similar vein to 9AM in Dallas and 5AM in Toronto, Drake continues visiting cities and writing songs about random times. Luckily, much like those two tracks, this one is dope. Featuring Drake just going in on a dope beat by Boi-1da, this one features Drake actually killing Tyga with the line, "You need to act your age and not your girl's age". If the line earlier that I pulled out and said "RIP Tyga" about was actually Drake killing Tyga, then this was Drake unloading the chopper on his lifeless body and then spitting on it as he walked away. With a great flow and delivery, Drake shows that he can be good lyrically on this one as he just tears this beat to shreds and, much like Tyga, kills it. These last two tracks are the best on the project.

115/150 -> 7.67/10

A surprise project that has been called an album, an EP, and a mixtape, by various parties, Drizzy Season is here regardless. You can certainly tells at times that this one is a project full of loosies, but if that is the case, then my God is Views From the 6 going to be good. These songs didn't make the cut and, aside from "10 Bands" and "Madonna" they are all good songs. How is this possible? The select few features here are good, as PARTYNEXTDOOR, Travi$ Scott, and Gabriel Garzon Montano, do their thing. The beats are great, especially those made by 40 and Boi-1da. Those two really delivered here. As for Drake, his flow, delivery, lyrics, singing, and rapping, were all very strong. He is in very good form on this project and this one certainly satisfies my hunger for some new Drake until the album drops. The tracks "Jungle", "6PM in New York", "6 God", "6 Man", and "Legend", are the ones that stood out to me the most here as the strongest tracks with the first two there being absolutely perfect Drake songs. It is hard to ask for much more from the man. I do wish the title was better though, may I propose "Birdman and Tyga's Funeral" for an alternative title?
