Overlap the IHF and SHL Playoffs
#1

This would cut down on the offseason significantly.

Similar to real life when the World Championships crossover with the NHL Playoffs. We could start the IHF after round one of the playoffs. This way people who normally wouldnt get the chance to play in the IHF now do, and it could end at around the same time as the finals, instead of two weeks after which takes up even more time and the offseason is long enough as it is.

This way so many more people have something to pay attention to, instead of just the 4 teams in the playoffs. Also, bringing back the olympics idea, we could do that once every 2-4 seasons to make those IHF games mean something, while these are not as important.

Thoughts?

The IHF is a way to fill a long off-season, NOT the reason the off-season is so long. If we moved the IHF forward there would be an even longer time after it, where essentially nothing happens and we just wait for the Recruitment Drive to finish. So a big NO from me.

Hopefully They Start Recruitment drive sooner. Offseason is so boring..... Should try and make it as short as possible

Thats not true.

Check this schedule from 2 years ago. The IHF didnt even end until after the entire next preseason was completed and the regular season had started. Last year it didnt even start until after all off-season stuff was over.

And last season, 11 days of literally just IHF and unimportant things. Could shorten the offseason by close to 2 weeks.

I proposed that the EEL should be used as a beer league so that players from teams that were eliminated could have something to do and it would give rookies a chance to GM.

A few people liked it.

I'm all for closing the gap between the end of the Playoffs and the IHF, but letting both things overlap wouldn't make sense imho.

Maybe we could overlap all pre-IHF procedures, (GM's, rosters, lines, etc) with the finals, and then have the IHF going on at the same time as the draft/free agency etc.

That way we can get things moving at least and dont waste 10 days plus on just IHF like last offseason.

Get the IHF GM apps up now imo, and start the recruitment drive just before the NWJHL Finals.

I love how when I made the off-season two weeks long last year, everybody flipped and begged for it to be longer.
