I've seen some complaints from others about the effort required to have a serviceable player in the SHL. I'm not prepared to make any judgments myself on this issue. Rather, I'd like to ask the most experienced members in the community how much TOTAL TPE is required to produce a player at various levels. Please don't post that it varies. Of course we know that your actual mileage may deviate from the test results. What is the rough TPE range for these levels for an player that can perform at the expected level of play?
TPE required for a superstar?
TPE required for a 1st line forward / 1st defense pairing?
TPE required for a 2nd line forward / 2nd defense pairing?
TPE required for a 3rd line forward / 3rd defense pairing?
TPE required for a 4th line forward / 7th defenseman or stop-gap 3rd defense pairing?
How much TPE capped and uncapped was actually awarded this past season in the SHL?
Opinions from actual SHL GMs would be especially appreciated.
Bure had 60 points with ~1150 TPE. Lundberg had 29 points with ~1200.
Razin had 57 points with ~1000. Black had 29 points with ~1000.
It depends largely on what your metrics of success are, what team you're on, what kind of chemistry you find with your linemates, etc.
Physical centers are going to take a fuckton of TPE, while a pure sniper winger would take a bit less (not having to worry about checking or faceoffs). The sniper might end up putting up way more points than that grinder center and thus seem "better", but I'd argue that both accomplish what they're made to do in the sim, and that both are valuable players.
And obviously, you're going to get a bigger role on a weaker team. For a while in Hamilton, our top pairing were both around 600-700 TPE, while, well.. Minnesota.
Also worth noting that, in S26 when HAM won the cup, there was a 690 TPE winger on the first line.
TPE required for a 1st line forward / 1st defense pairing?
1k tpe around
TPE required for a 2nd line forward / 2nd defense pairing?
600 tpe
TPE required for a 3rd line forward / 3rd defense pairing?
400 tpe
TPE required for a 4th line forward / 7th defenseman or stop-gap 3rd defense pairing?
155 tpe End Quote
(I clicked quote and my mouse must have had a little too much bounce. I think I fixed it well enough)
Thanks for taking a genuine hack at it. I had the notion that the price was too high to ever contemplate being a superstar. Now I know there's no question. The cost is just way too high!

It really does vary.
Ok. Maybe it does vary, but you still gave me a fuckton of useful information in a small post telling me so.
