The goal here would most likely be to lengthen the regular season in RL and bringing us closer to NHL seasons - so we'd probably keeping about the same number of games per day. 76 just happens to be ideal when it comes to number of games against opponents in and out of conference.

So you'd want to make it

8x6 teams (inside conference) = 48
4x7 team (other conference) = 28

For a total of 76 games...

Yeah I could get behind that.

Most fun is the playoffs (not that I know what those are) and more rapid development (training, prediction claims, etc) in the off-season from a player standpoint. I would hate to put that even further out.

From the GM perspective, the only way I would want this if there is more games per sim and yet I wouldn't want that because then we lose even more control of our strategies.

So yeah.. I want 50 games.

I'd only want the season to increase in games to help minimize the "sim luck" brought into play. Usually teams that get a hot start in a 50 game season make the playoffs, even if the "advanced metrics" say their production is unsustainable over a longer season. But before the "averaging out" period, BAM, season over. It'd help the best teams make the playoffs for sure, and the lesser, rebuilding teams not take advantage of some lucky sims.

Then again, perhaps that randomness is what makes this fun?

It has varied between 50 and 52 for the majority of it.

Also I don't know of a team riding on luck that would have seen their season crash in 76-82 games that wouldn't have also happened in 50.

Just for the sake of an informed discussion, could some of the people who are opposed to increasing the length of the regular season give thoughts as to why they're opposed?

I don't know about SBA but when I was active in GOMHL we'd consistently play 12 games in a row against the same team and it sucked
