The Halifax Raiders are last in the league and yet I am not one bit shocked. When getting drafted to the Raiders, I knew this was to be expected as the team is full of rookies. Although I knew where we would be standing in terms of standings, I couldn’t have been happier going to the Raiders. The team has great group of guys and also allows us rookies to get a lot of playing time, which would have been minimal in any other team. The raiders are currently 10 points behind the 2nd worst performing team. We are also at a -55 goal differential, which is abysmal. As it is well evident, our performance is not great yet, we don’t feel one bit bad about it. This is all a learning curve and we expect to get much better with time as most of our rookies are active. Our scoring is an issue and so is our defense as we are not scoring enough goals and letting in way too much. Although Jordin FourFour Jr. is in his second year, there is way too many undeveloped players protecting him. This is nothing to feel shame about as we are only going to get much better. The team is doing well in keeping a positive attitude and doing what they can to keep improving their players. What do we need to do to make the playoffs? To be realistic, it is very difficult to make the playoffs this season. It could be possible however, if we win every other game from here on out. All I have to say to the team is to just keep playing and keep on improving as next year is our season to take the cup.
If we take a deeper look at Prince George’s numbers, we will learn one thing. They win their games by playing defense first hockey. PGF has 3 players on the top 10 shots blocked list, König leading the pack with 57, Reilly with 53, and Dayne with 48 across the 38 games that have been played thus far this season. On top of PGF’s defenseive shot stopping, goal tending has also been a strong spot for them. Arton Zhumbayev has posted a .906 save percentage and a 2.33 GAA in the 32 games he has started for PGF. Good for second best in the league in both categories. PGFs defensive prowess opens up avenues for their offensive playmakers to be successful. Forwards Dani Forsberg and Xander Green are both among the top 10 goal scorers in the league. Frosberg is currently sitting on top of scoring for left wings in the league with 17 goals and 19 assists good for 36 points. Green comes in at fifth for centers with 15 goals and 16 assists good for 32 points. PGF appears to be a well rounded team with their big name defensemen and forwards pulling their weight.
I believe with a little more offensive consistency could serve the ‘Birds well and could carry them into the playoffs. With the trade deadline looming PGF’s GMs might be looking to add some scoring depth to their offense to make a push for the cup this year.
It will be excited to see where they end up at the end of the season, be sure to check out a game or two if you can!
I think the whalers team has been good so far. we have won the last eight games and could even get past the scraecrows for first place if we keep going like that. I dont really know what we could work on, i keep updating but my player isn't doing good, its my first year though really so i think the team success is more important than what my points are at. the Whalers are going to make the playoffs and probably win the whole thing at the rate they are going. I dont know what we need to work on. Maybe if we got less penalties. The team is really good on the penalty kill and thats where i think im helping the most, so that makes me feel good. If our players keep earning points and getting better i think that is all we need to win. I hope next season i can help the team win some more because this time i feel like i can only help a bit because there are so many better players than me. we just need to keep winning games like we are though and we will be great in the playoffs when we get there.
So far, the Colorado Mammoths performance has been great. Everyone seems to be meshing well with their linemates, and everyone knows their place on the team and what is expected of them. The Mammoths are currently 19-16-1 with 39 points, and are 5th overall in the league.
However, it wasn't always like this. The Mammoths have lost 6 out of their last 10, and have slipped from 1st overall to 5th overall. One reason for this collapse is the callup of our main goalie, Aleksandr Aleksandrov. Aleksandrov was called up to the Mammoths' SHL team. While the Mammoths still have a serviceable backup, Aleksandrov's absence from the team was definitely felt.
What the team excels at is power plays. The Mammoths are currently first in the SMJHL in power plays, with a 25.17% conversion rate. The same can be said about Colorado's penalty kill, currently ranked third overall, with 80% of total power plays killed off. The offense seems to be producing more lately, and hopefully a combination of brilliant special teams and solid goaltending can bring Colorado out of this mid-season slump and propel us into the playoffs. If these problems can be fixed soon, then I can see Colorado as a real threat in the playoffs.

The Prince George Firebirds had a slow start, but they're firing no all cylinders now.
The team has climbed out from the toilet bowl and dragged the Kelowna Knights down as a sacrifice. If you think that's an allusion to possible satanic rituals the Firebirds have undertaken, I'd be quick to note that I would be one of the first on board because I'M NOT FUCKING SCORING. But you know who is? Other Firebirds. Yeah, that's right, Dani Forsberg and Xander Green are kickin' ass in that category. You know what else I suck at? GETTING SHOTS ON NET. OH LOOK AT THAT, DANI MOTHERFUCKING FORSBERG MAKING SURE GOALIES DON'T GET A BREAK. I've bet you've figured out by now I DON'T HAVE MANY POINTS, so the entire first line of Green, Forsberg and Kristy O'Sullivan have got me covered apparently. I suck at face-offs, but that's okay. I'm not taking penalties, and that's okay (Dayne, Declan, I'm looking at you guys). Defensive stats? They're whatever. Real defensive play isn't in a quantified number ( ), but kudos to Oliver König, Declan Reilly and Arthur Dayne for blocking some shots like some bad-asses, and to Forsberg again for putting more than bushel of these delinquents on their asses and this is all okay. You know what else? Artom Zhumbayev is kickin' ass in nearly every category, and that's okay too. Tommy Toms is our leading rookie scorer and that's almost okay. YOU KNOW WHAT ISN'T OKAY? EIGHT POINTS IN FORTY GAMES. GAH!!!!!!!!!! What's that? Playoffs are around the corner? I think I'll be okay.

<div align="center"> Midway Woes for Scarecrows </div>
With ten games left to go in the regular season, what once was a fiery hot St. Louis Scarecrows team seems to have cooled off. After initial success, St. Louis decided to "up" their roster by making a few changes, including removing Stefan Digrio, Riley Jako, and Marcus Nyquist from the active roster and adding Sinn Nolan, John Langabeer and Teddy Cuddles to it. However, the honeymoon period after roster changes was short lived. After hitting the half-way mark, the Scarecrows are a mediocre 6-6-3, being outscored 37 GF-41 GA during that time frame.
Overall, the Crows as a team post middle of the road stats, typically finding themselves third or fourth in most stats columns. They break this trend in mainly two areas of play: physicality and face-offs- St. Louis leads the league in face-off percentage (53.25%) and shots against per game (lowest value, 23.58), while they place second in overall hits (708). Yet, while the team’s stats may be mid pack, many individual stat categories are topped with a Crow:
Goals: A Crossfit Jesus (22)
Assists: Matthew Auston (27)
Hat Tricks: C Louie Garrett (2)
+/-: A Crossfit Jesus (19), Matthew Auston (19)
Hits: Brett Kennedy (115, tied for 1st)
While holding the league’s 3rd best PK and goals against, we’ll be looking to see if the Crows can improve their goals scoring and power-play abilities (both 4th). If this can be done, St. Louis may not recapture first place, but it will help them balance their already decent defensive capabilities with an equally good offense. If they build on this, it would bode well and perhaps infer a deep run into the playoffs. As next year will see many core components of St. Louis leave, this may be the do-or-die moment, not just for this season, but for years to come.

After a very successful pre-season showing, the Kelowna Knights had many fans excited for the future and the present. While they had a great core group of returnees, they also looked to have hit on a number of top prospects in the draft as well. The Knights showed great teamwork and talent as they finished a top the standings in the beginning of the season as well.
However, as time went on and the results started to balance out, it became clear; Kelowna just wasn't ready yet. At the mid-season mark they had dropped out of playoff contention, and seemingly have given up on that idea as they shipped out captain and leading scorer John Langabeer to the St. Louis Scarecrows for a few draft picks.
Mike Izzy has taken the reigns as top talent of the forward core, as he now leads the team in points, and has been their leader on and off the ice since the departure of captain Langabeer. The rest of the season will likely be dedicated to development and preparation for the next season. It's a shame to think they have given up on the season, but at the same time it is more realistic and offers them a better shot at the cup in the future.
My team, the St Louis Scarecrows have had a relatively strong season. Although we are on a skid as of late, losing most of our games after trading for Kelowna captain John Langabeer, we are still in second place in the standings, in a playoff spot. The Scarecrows held down the first place spot in the standings for a few weeks before going on the cold spell. In fact, before the team started struggling, the Scarecrows won ten games out of their last eleven. The scarecrows have great depth scoring with three strong scoring lines and because of this, the Scarecrows are scoring at a rate of 2.825 goals per game. In advanced stats, the scarecrows currently stand third place in powerplay and penalty kill, and second place in four less important stats, which are Shots For, Shots Against, Face-off percentage, and Hits Per Game. Talent wise, the Scarecrows are probably the most stacked team in the league. With stars like Crossfit Jesus and Matthew Auston making up the top tier of players, and an incredible rookie class with players like defenseman Roman Augustus, the Scarecrow’s roster is completely loaded. The Scarecrows need to stay focused and posetive so that when it comes time for playoffs, we succeed and go all the way this year.
With no access to the stats where I am, I will be spouting bullshit about how i read the Mammoths are doing from the other Mammoth PT
The Mammoths had one of the best starts to the season, dominating the #1 positon. The lines all have great chemistry, and were backed up by the top goaltender in the league, Aleksandr Aleksandrov. Apparently he got called up and that screwed us pretty hard. Sure, we have a backup goaltender, but with more of a focus needed on defensive play, it creates a challenge continuing the strong offensive game the Mammoths had as supporting their goaltender is now a larger priority.
Missing playoffs is now becoming more of a reality as the Mammoths progress into the later part of the season, and need to light a fire under their ass to ensure they make it into the post-season action, where anything can happen because STHS fucks shit up.
Defensemen Kruger and Creller really need to figure their chemistry out, taking the physical presence of Creller and putting more numbers on the offensive side, while making sure Kruger gets back after pushing offensively to support their now starting goaltender.
Depth may be more of an issue with the Mammoths now, so ensuring the minutes are evenly spread out so they can play a full 60 minute game and not fall apart in the late periods will be key, everyone needs to step their game up.
Were it not for a recent stretch of mediocre play from the Mammoths, they would still be sitting in first place. The Mammoths' offense has been fantastic, leading the league with 3.31 goals per game, while their defense has done relatively well, allowing 2.74 goals per game, for an impressive 120.56% GF/GA, meaning that the team scores 20% more goals than it has scored against it. The special teams in Colorado are also league-leading. The power play has a success rate of 25.34%, and the penalty kill an 80.28% success rate. The main problem for Colorado appears to be one of overall shot suppression and generation. While the Mammoths don't allow a ton of shots against them in the traditional sense, they are 7th in the league for shots against, and middle of the pack in shots. This will have to improve for a deep playoff run, as it will help their goaltending, and make the other goaltender face many more shots. Overall, though, the Mammoths are a solid team that has run into a bit of a rough patch. While the shots for/shots against issue is there, it is relatively minor, as the Mammoths are still humming offensively. Barring a sudden fall off of a cliff, they're in good position.
Kelowna Knights are having quite an interesting season. They started out a good chunk of the season with some nice wins, and overall a nice record. At one point, I thought were we able to compete for the top 2 teams. However, a time in point came around where we absolutely shat the bed. We knew our team wasn't going to be the best ever as we have lots of rookies. However, something huge happened resulting in a 8 game losing streak, then we won one, then we had a 5 game losing streak right after. This lead us to trading John Langabeer in order for him to have a great chance at winning the cup. Langabeer got us a 2nd round pick and maybe a 4th next season's draft. Ever since trading him, that was a message to us that this season has been a disappointment. We said our very sorrow goodbyes and wished him the best of luck in St. Louis. However, we've been able to string a lot of wins together. Now we're only 4 points behind Detroit with 10 games remaining. This will be a very close finish to the finish line. Kelowna is living off a meaning of life and hockey.
Now I feel like as of right now our biggest weakness is scoring. However with the added offense of Sven Niederreiter that should be cleared up in a couple days however you won't see a big change until the team starts to gel with Niederreiter. As of right now one of our top 2 defensemen is a defensive defensemen and that isn't not necessarily bad however if does give a blow to a team that is in need of offense. Perhaps a couple little tweaks here and there will perhaps change some chemistry and get the ball rolling again but it is risky at this point in the season, especially bringing in a new talent in Sven Niederreiter is a mess with morale. Hopefully this team can work on their morale/chemistry to get the ball moving on offense. The Firebirds are currently sitting in 5th place, just 9 points back of Vancouver for the top spot in the league, however also 1 point behind Colorado and 2 points behind Montreal for 4th and 5th place. If the Firebirds can gel and bulk up the offense which is what they're doing, they'll be a legitimate contender for that big 3 spot in the league standings. You've heard it right here, right now, the Firebirds are finishing in a top 3 spot and they're going to be a threat to any team opposing them come playoff time. They may even challenge for second and first. You wait and watch SMJHL and others!
