The player that I, Xavier LaFlamme, most want to emulate in the SHL is Left Winger of the Calgary Dragons and all time great: Esa Anrikkanen.
Esa Anrikkanen is a pure goal scorer, with great puck skills, and amazing skating ability. It's how he's been able to score goals consistently; he managed to score 28 goals in Season 35, despite being a player from Season 18, and being in his 17th year in the league, closing on on year 20. The reason that I want to be like Anrikkanen, is because our styles of play are so similar. Anrikkanen is a sniper, whose three main strengths are: Scoring, Skating, and Puck Handling, and a weakness in checking . Do you want to take a wild guess at what my strengths and weaknesses look like?

That is correct. I am a sniper with strengths in Scoring, Skating, and Puck Handling, and a weakness in checking.

I have the exact same base build as current great Esa Anrikkanen, and I plan to euse his career as a road map for mine, as I try to navigate this league as a rookie. I am very thabkful for that, and hope that I can follow in his footsteps.

While everyone I know growing up wanted to be like “Mike”, my frame of mind was totally different. I wanted to be like “Silverwing”. He is a living legend in the SHL scene and should be a first ballot HOFer when he retires. Unfortunately he has not had the greatest success on the IIHF stage only once silver medal in S30. But he is a 3 time Challenge Cup Champion, a commish MVP a top point scorer and the list of achievements rolls on. And that is just his SHL achievements, his SMJHL trophy case is as full as a case can get.

In terms of actual player builds I pale in comparison to Rave Silverwing. His strengths include not only his scoring ability but his positioning and defensive play. In fact he is probably one of the best all around players in all of the SHL his only real weakness at this point is his checking. But his positioning and puck handing stick skills make up for that.

As of right now my players ``strengths`` if you can call them that at this point are my scoring ability and my skating. I am currently working on building up my strength and defensive play and positioning in order to get more of my coaches trust.

If I am able to be half the player my hero Silverwing is I will be very happy!

Though a much better defender than I will ever be, the pure goal scoring ability of Ace Redding of the Manhattan Rage is something I will forever look up to during my career, in season 35 Ace Redding led the entire league with 36 goals, four more than the next closest Kian Hamilton a team mate of Redding’s. Not only can Ace Redding score the puck himself though he has proven himself as an elite passer as well, with 31 of those in season 35 as well. Born a stones from away from me in Scotland though, Ace Redding physically could not be much more opposite than I, coming in at 6’9 and 290 pounds, Ace Redding has over a foot and a half of height on me and is over double my weight, but our game plans couldn’t be any more similar, score the puck in any way possible. I aspire to one day be able to score the puck at while as it seems that Ace Redding can, and if I can one day do just that I feel as though I will accomplish what I set out to do in the SHL, and that is score more goals than anyone has ever seen.

I'm a defenseman so naturally I must pick a defenseman. Also, being new to this league, I have no idea who is good or what teams are what. So I just chose a random team and looked for a defenseman on it. That ended up being, Viatcheslav Orlov, D for the Seattle Riot. Cool team name, but enough fluff.

I want to be a tough defenseman that can steal the puck, control it and pass it up field to the forwards on a breakaway play opportunity. Now, his strengths are slightly different from mine where he has strength and I have puck handling. However, I feel like these are two faces of the same coin. With strength, once he gets the puck it will be very hard to take it away from him, conversely with puck handling I am able to poke the puck out and defelct shots boosting my defense. Since, strength isn't a weakness I will still be able to get strength up to a very respectable level. Now oddly enough his weakness is puck handling where that is one of my strengths and my weakness is scoring. This is where we diverge a little as I do not care about scoring in the slightest and will simply move it up to keep my decision matrix clean, I guess he has kept his scoring high enough for his decision matrix to look nice, but feels he still wants to be a passer, even though his final build will feature some scoring. Maybe this is for Power Plays if they do that little umbrella passing formation thing and he has an open shot. (My only experience with hockey is NHL 2005).

Overall, though I like where he has dedicated his TPE the most, defense, strength, passing. I will probably lean more towards, defense, passing, puck handling, but that is really only where we defer.

Got to say, took some time to come up with this one. But if I'm choosing a player to model after, its going to be someone who can dominate in both ends of the rink. Therefore, I decided to say <a href='index.php?showuser=1643' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Ballerstorm</a>'s Randy Randleman (not the least because of his impressive awards cabinet).

Randleman is a left wing, the same as my build. His strengths are in Scoring, Skating and Defense. That's almost the same as my strengths in Scoring, Endurance and Defense. Both of our weaknesses is checking. His ability to reach such success is due, in my opinion, to his incredibly even build (90's across the board and 99's in strengths). That's the kind of build I want to eventually emulate.

What's really impressive, to me, is that he's been working on his checking as a weakness and now boasts a 73 rating and is fifth in the SHL in hits. In combination with his 24 goals to lead the league, Randleman has shown he's a force to be reckoned with in every zone. Let alone the 5 game winning goals and the 2 short-handed goals. There doesn't seem to be a situation Randleman can't influence. That ability to spread the build, while maximizing your strengths, seems to be the key to his success.

It seems like it will be a tall order to match <a href='index.php?showuser=1643' rel='nofollow' alt='profile link' class='user-tagged mgroup-3'>Ballerstorm</a>'s success, but his player provides a model of what I want to attempt to do.

the player I wanna emulate is Ronnie westbrook. he's a Center like myself and he plays for the Hamilton SteelHawks, we both have one similar strength which is passing and we have a sìmilar weaknesses which is Checking. He got an award for best toward in S32 which I aspire to obtain myself maybe not this year but next. This season he has 17 goals and 27 assists for 44 points as well as 53% faceoff success .His Skating(88) Passing (93) and defense(87) are what I aspire to reach by the end of the season maybe even surpass those stats, tho my stats for skating is 62, passing is 65 , and defense is 65 but if I work hard and train myself weekly and complete tasks such as this so I may better myself for my team and for my career
