The playoffs are a super exciting time of the season. You know what makes them more exciting? Giving out a ton of TPE!
Here's how this will work: there are five tasks, each of which is worth up to 2 TPE for putting in a little effort, for a total of 10 possible TPE. You can complete them in any order and do as few or as many as you would like. Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series. Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season. Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos. Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. Requirements: At least 150 words and a minimum of 2 stats. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc) Task #4 - Come up with a playoff slogan for your team and a hashtag for three players on the team. Task #5 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative. DEADLINE FOR ALL TASKS: 7 full days after the final PBP is complete, 11:59PM EST. As always, S37 SMJHL ROOKIES ONLY. S38 ROOKIES CANNOT EARN TPE FOR THESE TASKS. ![]() Registered i was wrong about sea of thieves 2018
Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season. Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos. I'll do this later Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. Requirements: At least 150 words and a minimum of 2 stats. I think as things stand right now, Vijanupatan Singh of the Detroit Falcons looks like a sure fire bet for MVP. Currently shooting at an outrageous 23.08%, Singh has been leading the Falcons offense to lead the Detroit team to the finals against the Montreal Militia. Not only has be been good at regular strength as his +/- rating is currently +1, he has absolutely blitzkrieg'd teams on the powerplay as 4 of his 7 points come when his team is up on the man advantage. Another reason why Singh is a good lock for the Playoffs MVP is because he is deployed on the ice in all situations and is a good player all around. With the most important games of his SMJHL Career ahead of him, look for the Falcons to rely heavily on their star player. Look for Singh to continue his domination of below-par SMJHL teams in the Four-Star Cup Finals where the Detroit Falcons take on the Montreal Militia. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. Requirements: At least 200 words for written / at least 4 stats featured in at least 2 different ways for graphics (bar graphs, pie graphs, list of names, etc) I'll do this later. Task #4 - Come up with a playoff slogan for your team and a hashtag for three players on the team. team hashtag(s): #goodbyestlouis #hellofourstarcup #gothroughhellforblackwell #tittiesoutforturska #makelamehorny Task #5 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative. Top 5 Potential Gamechangers in the Final 1. Beaujeaux Biscuit - Biscuit has a lot to do with his team's performance in the finals. Currently coming into the finals with a .885% save percentage, Biscuit needs to be better in order to secure his team a chance at winning in the Four Star Cup finals, or risk looking like a limp biscuit. 2. Evgueni Marmeladov - Much like Biscuit, Marmeladov has a lot to shoulder going into these Four Star Cup finals. With a current save percentage of .882%, the Falcons backstop must look to improve his numbers if he wants to keep this over-achieving Militia team at bay. 3. Connor Blackwell - The 2nd overall pick of the SMJHL draft has been pretty quiet in the playoffs thus far, just posting 1 measly assist so far while anchoring down the 4th line for the Falcons. He has been winning a considerable amount of draws as he is posted just above 57% in faceoffs won. Blackwell needs to be better offensively in order to help his team win the Four-Star Cup. 4. Tatu Mäkelä - Another Detroit rookie, the young Finnish defenceman is currently 4th in scoring for the Falcons. He needs to be an anchor for this team as the defensive depth for the Falcons falls through very quickly after the first pairing it seems like. The Falcons need Makela to play at his best to have a shot at winning the Four-Star Cup. 5. Connor Tanner - With the Montreal offence currently outpacing their regular season pace, their best player during the regular season in Connor Tanner needs to stand out and contribute more to this Militia team if they want to win in the Four-Star Cup Finals. ![]() Registered S37, S45, S49 Challenge Cup Champion
Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season. Graphic must include both goalie renders and both team logos. ![]() Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. Requirements: At least 150 words and a minimum of 2 stats. Evgueni Marmeladov is my vote for Playoff MVP. Marmeladov is the goalie for the Detroit Falcons who won the Four Star Cup by sweeping the Montreal Militia 4-0. It was a complete team effort but for Marmeladov to not even lose a single game in the final is an amazing feat. Marmeladov finished the playoffs with a leagues best .901 save percentage in 11 games played. Marmeladov also lead the playoffs with 2 shutouts. Both shutouts came in the finals against the Militia who had a ton of scoring power so the back to back shutouts to open up the finals gave Detroit an insane amount of confidence going forward. They ended up finishing the series in a sweep 4-0 as they were playing a complete team game. Detroit really has a lot of special players so I could see some other names in the running for MVP as well but to me Marmeladov is the clear winner. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. Welcome back to this game 7 match up between the Falcons and the Scarecrows! It’s about halfway through the first period and we are still scoreless as these teams are looking to win here tonight to head straight to the Four Star Cup Finals! Line 2 for Detroit is out to take the faceoff in the defensive zone - Kevin Marks, Maurizio Arrivabene and Mathias Victorsson. Along with defense pair 2 - Ryan Richter and Tatu Mäkelä are on ice for the Detroit Falcons. Dermot Lavelle of the Scarecrows is ejected from face-off, Bobby Watson takes his place. Kevin Marks wins face-of and passes to Mathias Victorsson. Mathias Victorsson is hit by Bobby Watson but gets a pass to Tatu Mäkelä. Mäkelä decides to regroup and sends a pass to Maurizio Arrivabene in neutral zone who then sends it back to Kevin Marks in St. Louis Scarecrows zone quick short pass to Ryan Richter. Richter sends a puck up the ice to a streaking Maurizio Arrivabene! Shot by Maurizio Arrivabene! Shot Misses the Net! Free Puck retrieved quickly by Tatu Mäkelä for the Falcons. Nice pass over to Maurizio Arrivabene. Maurizio Arrivabene is hit by Svatoslav Bodnar and loses puck. The free puck is retrieved by Tatu Mäkelä the star rookie for the Detroit Falcons! Tatu with great vision sends a pass to Maurizio Arrivabene who is wide open in the slot. Slap shot by Maurizio Arrivabene! Goal by Maurizio Arrivabene! Assists to Mäkelä and Richter. Just like that the Detroit Falcons take a 1-0 lead here in game 7! Task #4 - Come up with a playoff slogan for your team and a hashtag for three players on the team. Playoff Slogan for the Whalers: Playoffs? We're talking about Playoffs? Hashtags 1: #DEWITTTALKSHIT - Howie Dewitt 2: #DICKWITHASTICK - Dick Skillstedt 3: #WONGSTRONG - Gabriel Wong Task #5 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative. <div align="center">Top 5 Detroit Falcons Final Stars In Random Order TIMMY BARLOW (LW) - Timmy played very limited minutes throughout the playoffs but his fresh legs came up HUGE in game 4. Timmy scored the series winning OT goal in game 4 of a thrilling 6-5 game against the Militia. The coaching staff didn't have a lot of faith in Barlow but he came up huge to end the series and make sure the Militia didn't get any life. EVGUENI MARMELADOV (G) - With game 1 AND 2 shutouts in the finals what more needs to be said about Marmeladov? The stats speak for themselves and Marmeladov was clearly the best goalie in the finals and the best goalie of the entire playoffs. Great star that the Falcons surrounded with talent. TATU MAKELA (D) - This rookie looks like they will dominate the league next year after an amazing finals. Makela was great all playoffs but was a star in my eyes in the finals. Game 1 was a real tight game that Detroit won 1-0 thanks to a beauty powerplay goal by Makela. This game winning goal got the series in motion for the Falcons and they never looked back. Makela added 5 more assists in the final 3 games! VIJANUPATAN SINGH © - Singh was a force that Montreal had no answer for. He had points in all 4 games in the final including 2 goals and 5 assists in the 4 games. He had an amazing 14 shots in the 4 games as well as going 48/87 in the faceoff circle for a .551 winning percentage. Singh is the number 1 centre for Detroit and you can see why the coach is so confident in him, even using him on the point of the Power play. FRANCESCO BELLUCCI (RW) - Bellucci was very consistent for the Falcons in the final round. He had 4 assists and only was held pointless in game 3. Not only was he setting up a lot of plays for his line-mates but he was a beast on the penalty kill! Bellucci gets lots of special teams minutes and his coaches just love him. The Falcons only gave up 2 power-play goals during the finals and Bellucci was one of the main reasons why.</div> ![]() Registered Hot Potato

What is looking to be the hottest goalie matchup of the year is getting ready to kick into overdrive as two players whom are firmly in the zone right now bring the season to a close in the Four star cup final. Those two goalies you may ask are none other than our favorite racehorse seaBISCUIT and everyones favorite toast topper Marmeladov. Both the two are astoundingly close in save percentages coming into the championship round with Biscuit sporting a .885 and a .883 for Marmeladov highlighting just how close these two are. However where the difference is going to be made here is in consistency. Beajeaux has a lower Goals against average at 2.99 compared to a hefty 4.24 for Marmy. However riding on a hot streak here we may see an upset later on. Lastly looking at the first game of the series we saw a defensively dominated game with no goals in regular time until the shootout caused a cease to the night. All in all both goalies are pretty close in their statistics however I feel that in the end Biscuit is going to pull ahead and bring the cup back on to Montreal. Task #2 - For the Most Valuable Player this Playoffs there’s a clear cut Number one, even though his team didn’t win It’s by far Inari Twain. Twain decimated all opponents this post-season with 11 goals and 11 assists in 17 games, actively creating just as much offense for others as he was for himself and also causing plenty of pain with 24 hits in that 17 game spread, playing the body like a game of checkers. If there is any doubt for anyone whatsoever, it is dispelled by the fact that he outscored his closest opponent by 6 points and lead the post season in both goals and assists. In my mind there is no doubt that the number one player for the playoffs was and is Inari Twain. He brought it this year and I feel that he’s the right for to be rewarded for the playoff MVP whether you like it or not. Task #3 Vijanupatan Singh and Nolan Snipez Line up for the face-off as the official drops the puck, resuming play. Singh pulls the puck back to Tommy Barlow as he skates over the puck it falls on back to Quick Mafs as he makes an accurate pass up to the Falcons star, Singh. Singh unable to find a shot makes a hard and quick pass to Hermanis Villy who quickly redirects the puck to Tommy Barlow again. Barlow eyes the scene checking his options as he notices Singh has managed to get open, he wheels back to give himself space to make the pass rifling the puck tape to tape connecting with Singh’s stick and being sent flying towards the net where Barlow with perfect timing redirects the puck down under the glove of the Montreal Netminder and past the goal line. The players file off the bench as the former first and second overall picks Tanner and Makela Bro hug it out as the fans go wild! The players all line up and shake hands after a brief celebration and cheers of the winning teams name fill the stadium as fans and players alike celebrate the victory and the future of hockey in Detroit. Task #4 - "Whale, there's always next year." #LOVESINTHEAIR - Dude Love #JUKKAJUKES - Lizzie Jukka #SKILLSTICK - Dick Skillstedt Task #5 TOP FIVE FOR THE ALL HOCKEY HAIR TEAM, LET'S SEE WHO HAS THE SICKEST FLOW AND THE FRESHEST LETTUCE. AT NUMBER FIVE WE HAVE TATU MAKELA WHOSE TIGHT LOCKS ON A GORGEOUS CROWN SCREAM READY FOR ACTION. AT FOUR WE HAVE OUR GOALIE REP FOR THE GLAMOUR SQUAD WITH BEAJEAUX BISCUIT WITH A CLASSIC GOALIE LOOK OF JUST BEING TOO AWKWARD TO CUT THEIR HAIR BECAUSE SOCIETAL NORMS AREN'T OFTEN TAUGHT IN GOALIE HOUSEHOLDS AS THEY ARE STRANGE BEINGS. AT THIRD WE HAVE VJANPUUT SIGN IN A VERY SHEIK LOOK HIGHLIGHTING HIS WONDERFULLY WARM EYES NEXT WE HAVE AN HONORARY MENTION WITH DUDE LOVE WHOM DIDN'T MAKE THE FINALS EXCEPT FOR THE ONES IN MY HEART. THE GAME MAY NEVER SEE LOCKS AS LUSCIOUS AS HIS AGAIN. FOR SECOND WE HAVE A GREASED BACK AND SECY CONNOR TANNER NUFF SAID HERE FRIENDS. AND FINALLY FIRST OVERALL WE HAVE THE MOP WE USE TO CLEAN THE SHOWERS AS IT IS TRULY THE MVP HERE. ![]() Registered Senior Member

The final two teams left to take home the Four Star Cup are the Montreal Militia and the Detroit Falcons. The Militia make a return to the Cup final after having a rough season last year which they ended up with the lottery pick, because of finishing dead last. Beaujeaux Biscuit leads the way for the Militia, finishing the regular season with 23 wins in 46 games, alongside 3 shutouts. The Irish tender finished 3rd in both Goals Against Average and Save Percentage but faced the second most shots of any goaltender with 1076 saves. Also the tender played the most minutes of any other goaltender. 200 feet away in the other cage, the Detroit Falcons are lucky to have Evgueni Marmeladov between the pipes. The Detroit tender had a 0.885 Save Percentage and a 2.79 Goals Against Average, which were good for 5th and 6th in the league. Although being on the lower end of the GAA and SV% columns, he managed to get 25 wins in 44 games, good for first in the league! Also the goaltender faced the 3rd most shots which makes the 25 wins very impressive. The finals showcase two goaltenders who are used to getting a lot of shots, most of the time, its the hot goaltender who wins the series, but who will it be? Code: 222 Words Task #2 Inari Twain deserves to win the Playoff MVP this year. The guy is having a MONSTER post season, posting 11 Goals and 11 Assists in 17 games, good for FIRST in the post-season. The Militia have a lot of minus players, but Inari still is tied for team high plus 3. The guy is on fire this post-season. 8 Power Play Points, Inari is a threat on the Power Play. A big reason why the Militia are back in the Finals after a rough season last year. No one in the league expected the Militia to be where they are, but Twain has the team on his back. The first line of McKinley and DeLon Ishii with Twain on the right has been dynamic. This is one of the more dominating post-season performances in recent history. The town of Montreal can thank Twain if they win, and he will be forever known as a town hero. <div align="center">S37 SMJHL Four Star Cup Finals Game : MTL @ DET ![]() ![]() vs ![]() ![]() That match was like a far west duel across the Ice. Two great starting goalers fighting for a chance to prove who was the worthiest between them. Two fighters but only one winner. Evgueni Marmeladov had, during the playoff, a shooting percentage (PCT) of 0.885 vs 0.891 for Beaujeaux BUISCUIT. Those two were close in term of performance and had a similar regular season. When you analyze the numbers with precision, Beaujeaux gave the other team 117 goals against 118 for Evgueni. Again, this was a really fair and equal match up. So what could differentiate the capabilities of the two players? Not that much. Evgueni Marmeladov has a goal against average of 2.79 goals per 60 minutes of play. In the other team, Beaujeaux Biscuit had a GAA of 2.69. Again, too much close of a call to make safe bets. At the moment of writing the article, Detroit was leading 3 to 0 the finals. Even if Montreal goaler Beaujeaux Biscuit had a slight advantage in term of performance, in the end, the cup will always be won with a team effort. All in not lost but Montreal will need the best performance of his goaler, the play of a lifetime. Task #2 Inari Twain from the Montreal Militia is one of the most plausible candidate for the MVP award for the S37 SMJHL playoff. Inari made more than 10 goals during the playoff, help 7 times his team mates by making assists and let’s not forget, he made 2 game winning goals with a global % accuracy of 18%. Montreal had a close call with their series against Colorado Mammoths but stepped up their game against the #1 team, Halifax, and won in 6 games. In these games, Inari Twain had the most impressive offensive score in the league. With his help, Montreal had a hell of a streak in the playoffs and the fans got a hell of a show for their money. Those results couldn’t be obtained by anybody and they make him stand from all the other players of the league. A huge congrats for his team, they played well. But you must admit, Inari Twain played an important role in Montreal win against all the odds against them. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game. Task 1:
With the SMJHL Finals upon us it is time to analyze the marquee match-up. This would be Beaujeaux Biscuit of the Montreal Militia against the Detroit Falcons Evgueni Marmeladov. Coming out of the regular season, Biscuit had quite a good year, while Marmeladov has consistent numbers across the board. Biscuit played 46 games while Marmeladov had 44 to his name during the regular season. Biscuit finished the season with a respectable 0.891 save percentage, while the latter ended with an average 0.885 save percentage. Biscuit rocked a 2.69 Goals Against Average, while Marmeladov earned a 2.79 Goals Against Average. Anyone could look at this and see a small edge for Montreal. As the stat lines continue, Beaujeaux still has a higher stats. But as we all know, the regular season means little when it comes to play-off time and with these two teams in the finals anything is possible. Can Biscuit transition is regular season performance when it matters most? Or will Marmeladov's consistent play be enough? Going into the final both sport even numbers in save percentage with 0.885 for Biscuit and 0.883 for Evgueni. One of these goalies will have to outlast the other as there is no advantage going into the final. Code: 205 Words Task 2: Maurizio Arrivabene of the Detroit Falcons has had a post-season to remember. With his Falcons going until the very end, winning the 4 Star Cup. With that being said he has had a huge goal in all of this, leading me to believe he is deserving of Play-Off MVP. Maurizio Arrivabene has played 11 games and leads the league in goals. He has scored 8 goals, which alone is very impressive. His 8 assists have him at 16 points in 11 games, a very impressive number. He leads league in Points per 20 Minutes, sitting at 1.37. His 5 Power Play Goals also leads the league. Despite all of these offensive accolades, he is also solid in his own end boasting a Plus/Minus rating of +6. With his 12 hits he also shows that he is not afraid to get physical. With not much bringing his game down, I feel it is easy to put Arrivabene as MVP for his performance. Code: 162 Words Task 3: Task 4: "Soar Together" #Yumatime - Johnny Yuma #Hailcaesar - Roman Augustus #Bubbalove - Bobby Watson Task 5: ![]() Credit to Wasty ![]() Credit to Sulovilen ![]() Registered Anime Enthusiast Code: Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series. I thought we'd do a matchup between the goalies in the finals, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() SV% Marmeladov lead the playoffs in SV% with .901, where his counterpart in Biscuit ended last with .866. As mentioned earlier, these stats does not look very good, as the top goalies in the SHL are usually up around .920. Not much to say about this though, it's pretty straight forward. Goals Against Average In the Goals Against Average category, none of the goalies did that great, both of them were the only ones above 3 goals per game. Biscuit loses this battle too though because he had almost .5 goals more against him per game. Shutouts Shutouts is maybe the stat that stands out most for a goalie. Even though it highly depends on what shots the team let through, it is still an impressive feat. In this category, only one of the goalies were noted on this leaderboard, and it was Marmeladov, who earned 2 in 11 games. Biscuit had 6 more games played but still couldn't get it done. Marmeladov clearly played better throughout the playoffs, and is for sure the best goalie of the playoffs in my opinion. Code: Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. I'm going to be boring and do like probably everyone else and put my vote on Detroit Falcons Vijanupatan Singh for this. The right winger ended up with 6 goals, 9 assists for a total of 15 points in 11 games, this put's him at 1,23 points per 20. 2 game winners is also a nice feather in the hat. He was over 50% in faceoffs too. My other options would be Montreal Militias Inari Twain. He had 22 points, 11 goals and 11 assists in 17 games(1,14 per 20). 2 game winners as well, and a couple more hits and blocked shots. If Montreal would've won this series i would for sure give it to him, but as Detroit won, i'm goign to have to give it to Singh. One could also argue that Evgueni Marmeladov could be a candidate, He lead the team to greatness with some good looking stats(smjhl wise), those shutouts looks really good compared to the other goalies too, so he could definitely be a dark horse. Code: Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. Welcome back to this exciting game 4 between Detroit and Montreal! It can all be decided here in OT in the finals as Detroit is already up 3-0 in the series! Will Detroit take home the Four Star Cup? AND VILLY IS OUT OF THE BOX! Detroit killed of the penalty and is back to 5 men! Montreal had a great shot to end it right there but could not get it done on the powerplay, but this is no time for Detroit to get cocky, as Montreal is still in their zone. They have a good play going on, Berezin gets a shot off, But Villy who just got back in the zone blocks it! It gets picked up by Tatu Mäkelä, the 1st overall pick of the draft for Detroit. He passes it to the person that went next in the draft, Connor Blackwell! God that's good to see the two top picks playing good! Blackwell moves it up the ice, into the Montreal zone, And we get some passes between him, Villy and Jurgis Bulota. Bulota shooots!!! And Biscuit holds on to it for a stoppage of play! Singh faces off against Snipez.... And wins it for Detroit! It gets picked up by Timmy Barlow, who passes it to brother Tommy Barlow. Tommy can't handle the pass though and loses it! However it gets picked up by teammate Quick Mafs. He passes it to Singh... To Villy, To Tommy, Back to Singh, Sing shoots... Timmy Barlow deflects it! We have some interesting people in the audience, One of them being Justin Trudeau! "Oh i sure hope Montreal can get this done eh, It would be a shame to see a canadian team lose." NHL goalie legend Martin Brodeur has also been spotted, rumour has it that he is scouting Biscuit, whom he thinks could take the NHL route instead of going to the SHL. Former SHL goalie Robert Andersson is here too! He played for the Montreal Impact back before the re-brand. "I'm just here to see Detroit beat the crap out of these filthy Militias. Vive le Impact." In the second round of the S37 SMJHL playoffs, Jordin FourFour of the Halifax Raiders matched up across from Beaujeaux Biscuit (whose name is such a pain to type it should count as extra words) for 6 games that went MAYBE a bit differently than most expected. The two were pretty similar in the season, with FourFour having a slight edge, with a save percentage of 90.1 to Biscuit’s 89.1. In the playoffs, however, BOTH would find themselves getting affected by nerves. Over games one and two, the “workload†was pretty even, with FourFour facing 59 shots to Biscuit’s 56 in what felt like a wild, planless shootout. Unfortunately, FourFour showed himself less ready for the task, surrendering 8 goals to Biscuit’s 6. Unsurprisingly, the Militia won both of those games (though both in overtime). Games three and four marked a significant difference in pressure. Biscuit only had to face 26 shots, while FourFour had 39 pucks sent his way. What’s amazing is that despite facing 2/3 the shots, Biscuit allowed more goals, 5 to 4. The Raiders also got their first win in the series. Over games 5 and 6, Biscuit faced 49 shots to FourFour’s 46, allowing 8 goals to his 6. In total, Biscuit had a save percentage of 85.5 to FourFour’s 87.5 Task #2 Task #3 Task #4 Raiders Got Raided Kevin Hamilton #GhostWing Jordin FourFour #Puckake’d Cody Fletcher #FiveAlive Task #5 Five Moments that best summarize MTL-HAL Montreal’s overtime upset to go 1-0: With most expecting a sub 7 game victory from Halifax, seeing Militia take the lead was almost a pleasant surprise, even for Halifax. Hey, at least they’ll put up a decent fight, right? Montreal doing the EXACT SAME THING to go 2-0: Okay, now it’s not funny. Militia now had a 2-0 lead. Still, Halifax felt confident enough, only needing to go 4-2 to win, which was very doable. Halifax crushing Montreal by 3 goals to get their first win, making it 3-1: At this point Halifax needed to win out, and they answered big. The 3 goal lead erased the goal deficit from the first three games. Halifax doing the EXACT SAME THING to go 3-2: 2 down, 2 to go. Once again, an absolutely dominant performance. Halifax wasn’t just winning now, they were getting revenge for the times they didn’t win. Montreal taking TEN shots on the Halifax goal when already winning game 6 3-2, denying Halifax ANY chance of tying it up: Not only had they overcome a 2-1 deficit to start the final period, but after getting the lead they put on the most aggressive display possible, keeping Halifax so disoriented they all but forgot about trying to catch up. ![]() Registered Just an old member
Task #1
The final buzzer has finally gone in the championship games, and two teams get to start their turn at bringing home the Four Stars Cup. For the Montreal Militia, this is a very large turn around from last season when they finished dead last, won the lottery pick, which was traded the pervious year, and now see themselves knock off the power house in Halifax and try for the Four Stars Cup. Leading them into this series is Beaujeaux Biscuit, who spent the year between Montreal and West Kendall and posted a respectful 23 wins, 16 loses, and 4 overtime loses in 46 appearances. It was a different year for the one they call ‘Bojo’ as he actually had help this year in Montreal, and didn’t have to stand on his head every game and try and back stop them to many wins. Bringing Detroit to the promise land is Evgueni Marmeladov who appeared in 44 games for the Falcons and posted a 25-15-4 record. Detroit finished second in the standings this season and was expected to make a run into the cup final, but they had a tough time knocking off St. Louis who took them to 7 games only to lose by one goal. Code: 206 Words Task #2 Every year someone, usually the winning team’s player, gets named the playoff MVP for being just that, outstanding. Well even though I might be a little biased, I think this year was the JS Giguere of the SMJHL. Montreal wasn’t expected to make it this far, and one player stood out from everyone in the entire playoffs, Inari Twain who was brought over in a trade during the season. In the 17 games played by the Militia, Twain was outstanding and posted 22 points spilt evenly between goals and assists to lead the Militia to the Four Stars Cup Final. The Falcons has some great players, and all meshed well as a team with their rookie sensation Tatu Makela posting 12 points in only 11 games played for the Falcons and could have also been in the conversation for the MVP, but Twain was the backbone for the Militia to get as far as they did this year in the playoffs and he deserves this award. Code: 166 Words Task #3 Welcome back to game four of the Four Star’s Cup Final here in Montreal, where they play next goal wins. We are 1:39 into the first overtime period and if the Falcons can find a way to score here the game and series is over. Nyquist will faceoff against Vijanupatan in the Falcons zone after MacCockener made a nice save from a point shot from Koller. Singh has won the faceoff and the Falcons setup behind their net for the breakout while Montreal sets their zone defence that has worked so well thus far. The puck is turned over in the neutral zone, and Berezin picks it up and heads into the Falcons zone while the Militia change behind him, he puts a weak shot towards the net, and it is blocked by Villy, who stretches a pass up to Bulota who got behind the Militia change, he walks into the zone, shot from the wing, and what a save from Biscuit who holds it for a whistle and faceoff in Militia territory. The Militia need to be careful on changes like that or this game and series will be over. Singh will now get set and wait for Snipez to put his stick down, and Singh wins another draw which is sent back to the point, Singh sets up in the slot, receives the pass, turns and fires, Barlow parked out front with the tip, and over Biscuit’s shoulder!! Falcons win!! Falcons win!!!! Code: 244 Words [b]Task #4 "The Comeback Kids" #StopTheBiscuit - Beaujeaux Biscuit #HuckleberryFinn - Inari Twain #3BlindMice - Barbie, Connor, and Jack Tanner Task #5 Top 5 Players to Watch 1. Beaujeaux Biscuit – This is an easy one from Montreal, Biscuit has been the steady hand this year keeping this great Montreal run going, and with a .866 save percentage and 3.47 GAA in the playoffs, he needs to find his game to help beat this high-flying Falcons team. 2. Evgueni Marmeladov – The same goes for the Falcons back stopper. Montreal has a great first attack and Evgueni is rocking a .901 save percentage and a 3.01 GAA and also needs to settle his game to hold off the Militia and their stacked PP. 3. Inari Twain – Arguably the best player thus far in the playoffs, Twain has 22 points in 17 games, and is leading these Militia into this series with them on his back. 4. Tatu Makela – Has been the tremendous rookie Detroit wanted him to be and has shown that even more with the bright lights shining, with just over a point per game so far, he is leading by example from the back end of this Falcons blueline. 5. Connor Tanner – You can’t talk about big time players without talking about Connor Tanner, last years 1st overall pick, and leading Montreal scorer, he is always poised to take over a game much like Erik Karlsson does in the NHL. ![]() Registered S35 Challenge Cup Champion
Task #1 -Write 200 words or make a graphic highlighting any goalie matchup of the series.
Written must include 3 stats, either from playoffs or the regular season. The two teams that made the finals in the SMJHL this season was the Montreal Militia and the Detroit Falcons. Let's take a look at the goaltending of each team and compare who was the better last line of defense for their team. Playing for the Montreal Militia is Beaujeaux Biscuit while Detroit has Evgueni Marmeladov in net for them. We'll be comparing them by their stats and see who was the better goaltender. Save Percentage Winner: Evgueni Marmeladov Detroit's goaltender takes this one as he clearly had the better SV% of the two, in fact he had the highest SV% in the entire playoffs which shows how important he was to the Falcons' success. With a 0.866%, Biscuit is 0.035% behind Marmeladov and while that may not seem like much, in the playoffs, every goal matters. Goals Against Average Winner: Evgueni Marmeladov Once again, Detroit's goaltender takes another category compared to Beaujeaux Biscuit. Although letting in 3.01 GAA which is admittedly not the greatest, Biscuit is there to look even worse with a 3.47 GAA. Biscuit about let in .5 more goals per game which when you play 17 playoff games, starts to add up. Shutouts Winner: Evgueni Marmeladov I'm seeing a trend here. Are you? Once again Marmeladov wins the 3rd and final category as he has 2 shutouts in the playoffs compared to Biscuit's 0. I repeat 0. It looks very clear the Marmeladov was the better goaltender in the playoffs compared to Biscuit. Task #2 - Make a case for who you think deserves to win Playoff MVP. Requirements: At least 150 words and a minimum of 2 stats. I believe that Vijanupatan Singh is the playoff MVP for the S37 SMJHL playoffs. In the entire playoffs, he is 3rd for most points in the playoffs but mind you he had 6 less games to play than Inari Twain and the other person we'll get to in a second. Singh had 6 goals and 9 assists for a total of 15 points. While he did score less goals and less points than Maurizio Arrivabene. He makes up for it in other stats. Singh scored more PP points, had more game winning goals, and was a center so he had a big part in deciding how each play would start. Inari Twain scored 7 more points than him on the other hand but as I've mentioned before hand, 6 more games to play means a big difference especially considering how many goals were scored in these playoffs. It's a tough pick between all 3 of them as they all have a few things going for them but I believe that Singh should be the winner out of the three of them. Task #3 - Write a goals highlight play by play for one series winning game, or make an infographic featuring stats from a series winning game. 2 minutes and 35 seconds into the overtime for the Detroit Falcons and the Montreal Militia as the two teams lined up at the faceoff dot. Singh wins the faceoff cleanly against Snipez as he passes it out to Timmy Barlow. He passes to Tommy but Montreal quickly is on him and he loses the puck. Quick Mafs does some quick math and gets to the puck first and passes to Singh. Singh looks... nothing to shoot at so he passes to Villy. To Tommy, back to Singh in the middle. Timmy is in the middle screening the goalie.. Singh shoots, deflected by Timmy in front! HE SCORESSSS. TIMMY BARLOW WINS THE GAME AND THE SERIES. Task #4 - Come up with a playoff slogan for your team and a hashtag for three players on the team. WhatPlayoffs #LyndisHasABust #NourShouldHaveUsedDMC #Nut Task #5 - Make a top 5 list for the finals. Top 5 goals, top 5 players, top 5 noteworthy people in the audience for one of the games, whatever you want. No word count, but if you just list 5 names, you won't get the full 2 tpe. Be a little creative. Top 5 Recreates Heading into the draft based on past player's success #1 Dick Skillstedt His past player was an elite goaltender for very long on Minnesota. As he was on the Chiefs, he does not have any team awards nor any post-season success, but in the regular season, he has gathered his fair share of trophies. #2 Giuseppe Risolo Flood was on the West Kendall Platoon and he helped contribute to their traditionally defensive style of hockey. He has been in the running for top goalie in the league a few times, he had his brief playoff stints but as he was on WKP, he had a similar problem with not many team-awards and lack of post-season success. #3 Lyndis Vakarian Taylor is a Challenge Cup Champion and has gone to the finals twice. Very consistent defensive defenseman however, never too high up in the leaderboards for points although her hits total is impressive #4 Connor Blackwell It's fucking Crutchfield who's a beaut. Crutchfield had solid seasons for a while, he had his brief moments of glory however, he lacks individual trophies and team trophies. His final 2 seasons, he tended to leave the teams who somehow managed to go the finals after he left #5 Tatu Mäkelä Kekkonen was a fairly average player for most of his career, he had brief instances of glory and doing fairly well with the Panthers, however he struggled post-season and to gather any individual awards ![]() Registered S2, S5, S17 Challenge Cup Champion
Task 1:
The S37 Four Star Cup Final will be held between the Montreal Militia and the Detroit Falcons, and amongst the many keys in any playoff series, often the paramount matchup is between the guys in net. This series features from the Militia, Beaujeaux Biscuit, and from the Falcons, Evgueni Marmeladov. Both goalies have made a strong run to the Final for both of their teams, but by the end of the series the difference in play in goal was apparent, especially so when you look at 3 key stats – Goal Against Average, Save Percentage, and the elusive Shutout. The Militia came up short in this series, so we'll discuss their goaltender – Beaujeaux Biscuit – first. Beaujeaux finished the playoffs with a somewhat lackluster playoff, when you look across at this 3.47 Goals Against Average, .866 Save Percentage, and 0 Shutouts in 17 Games Played. When compared to Marmeladov, it's easy to see why Detroit came on top in the S37 Final, as he finished the playoffs with a Goals Against of 3.01, a Save Percentage of .901, and 2 Shutouts in just 11 Games Played. Detroit finished on top in the regular season, earning their bye into the Semi-Finals, and their goaltending is one of the key reasons why they we're able to blitz through for a clean sweep of the Montreal Militia. Task 2: The S37 SMJHL Playoffs were filled with strong performances, particularly from the two finalist clubs – the Montreal Militia and the Detroit Falcons. Amongst the top point producers – Inari Twain, Maurizio Arrivabene, Vijanupatan Singh, Alexander McKinley – it's hard to differentiate between who's just good, and who's been great. For me, it's hard not to zero in on one guy: Maurizio Arrivabene of the Detroit Falcons. Arrivabene was a revelation for the Falcons in these playoffs, leading a remarkably potent offense with 16 points in 11 games played (8 goals, 8 assists), but it's more than just the offensive production that makes him stand out. Arrivabene showed strong defensive responsibility with a team leading +/- rating of +6, and also dealt out 15 hits to his opponents. Furthermore, Arrivabene was among the leam leaders in ice time on the penalty kill and showed a strong prowess on all special teams with 5 of his 16 points coming on the powerplay to add to his 1.37 points per 60 minutes total. The Falcons had a stacked, powerhouse squad, but it would be hard to imagine Detroit doing what they did this postseason without the performance of my MVP – Maurizio Arrivabene. Task 3: As we line up here for the faceoff in the Militia zone, the Falcons prepare to put their high powered offense to work and continue their dangerous trend on the powerplay. Their top unit of Kevin Marks flanked by Mathias Victorsson and Francesco Bellucci with Tatu Makela and Vijanupatan Singh on the point takes the ice, and Marks is able to win the faceoff back to Makela. The Falcons set up in an umbrella as Makela surveys the zone on the blue line, he sends a soft pass over to Victorsson at the half boards who turns and sends a quick shot on goal which is kicked away by Biscuit! The puck skitters into the corner where Bellucci fights for possession against the checking of Militia defenseman Brett Jones, Bellucci kicks it free up the boards where Singh retrieves possession and steps to the top of the circle. Singh glides across the zone into the slot where he's met by the checking of Alexander McKinley. Singh rifles a quick shot which deflects off the stick of McKinley and on goal, stopped by Biscuit but there's a scrum for the puck in the crease. Whacked at once, twice, three times by Marks before he pushes it through the five hole of Biscuit for a Falcons goal! Task 4: Team Slogan: "Orange Crush" Team Hashtags: #WVHforMVP (Wolf Von Hammersmark) #FINNing (Finn Larsson) #DeanMachine (Dean Youngblood) Task 5: Top 5 Storylines for the Final 1) Can the Militia block out the Stank? – Mediocrity is a spreading disease in the city of Montreal right now with their NHL counterparts, the Canadiens. Can the Militia keep up their winning ways, or pull a Marc Bergevin in the Final? 2) Can Beaujeaux stop the Biscuit? – See what I did there? Goaltending is paramount in any playoff series, and in a series where the Militia appear outmatched, getting elite goaltending from Biscuit is crucial. 3) Singh-ing the Blues – Detroit's top line has been incredible this postseason, accounting for much of the league's stop scorers in the playoffs. Can they keep it up to propel Detroit's offense to a championship? 4) Power Players – Special teams have been a driving force for the Falcons thus far, with much of their top players production coming from an electric powerplay. Can the Falcons continue to fill the net on the man advantage? 5) Make-la or Break Rookies – Detroit's rookie sensation Tatu Makela has been fantastic for the Falcons blue line, and has handled big minutes in his remarkably young career. As the competition gets stiffer, can Makela continue to be an impact player? ![]() ![]() ![]() Registered S27, S29, S32 Challenge Cup Champion
Task 1
The Detroit Falcons send season 36 draftee, Evgueni Marmeladov to guard the net for them in the SMJHL Cup Final. Standing at 6’5”, this man is a beast. However, his SMJHL regular season numbers say otherwise. Finishing 6th in the league in save percentage with a .885, he does not look like a guy Detroit can rely on to steal the show. With a 2.79 goals against average, good enough for 5th in the SMJHL, he does let in his fair share of goals. Although, the Detroit defence does not allow many shots, which could translate into Marmeladov never being able to get into a rhythm, something moth goaltenders like to do. The one stat Marmeladov does have, he had 25 wins this season. He has been doing enough for the Detroit Falcons this season, so Montreal cannot take him lightly, despite what his regular season numbers say. Speaking of Montreal, they send season 37 draftee, Beaujeaux Biscuit to guard the goal posts. Quite smaller than Marmeladov at a 6’2” height. However, he does use his small size to his advantage and has been amazing in net this season. 2nd in the league in shutouts with 3, 3rd in save percentage with .891 and 3rd in goals against average with a 2.69. He has much better numbers than Marmeladov. Detroit may have a better team on paper, but the Militia have the more proven goaltender. Look for him to steal some games in the finals. Code: 245 words Task 2 The MVP of the playoffs should be Inari Twain. The acquisition the Montreal Militia made and the trade has paid off in spades. Coming from the bottom feeder Vancouver Whalers, Twain has made a name for himself in these playoffs. He led the entire SMJHL in goals, assists and obviously points. And it wasn’t even close. He had 11 goals and 11 assists for 22 points, The next best had 8 goals and 8 assists. 3rd place was 6 goals and 9 assists. Both of these players came from Detroit as well, so they fed off of each other. The next best scorer for Montreal was Alexander McKiney with 14 points. Twain may have not had the best points per game, but he had the most amount of points, and the least amount of help. An underrated stat for Twain was, he sacrificed the body in order to help his team. He had 8 blocked shots, which was better than both of the Detroit forwards. Adding 24 hits to his total after being a reliable scorer, Twain was the total package the Montreal Militia hoped for. Code: 186 words Task 3 The Detroit Falcons retrieve the puck behind the net in their own zone. Ben Turska is holding the puck as teams are making line changes. Detroit sends their 3rd line into the game. He is guarded by Barbie Tanner. He skates by Tanner and starts up the ice. He dishes a saucer pass over the stick of Nolan Snipez to his teammate Vijanupatan Singh and Detroit is now skating into the Montreal zone. Singh holds the puck across the blue line and drops the puck back to Turska. Turska passes it to Mafs for the shot! The shot misses the net. Montreal picks up the puck and try to skate up the ice. Bakos-Markov has the puck now but he is stick lifted by Turska. Turska throws it behind the net to Tommy Barlow. Barlow tries for a shot but whiffs on it. Barbie Tanner gets the puck but Tommy Barlow picks his pocket. He passes it behind the net to Singh. Singh goes back around the net to where the pass came from. He sees an open man in front of the net! He passes it to a wide open Timmy Barlow! GOALLLL. GAME OVER. SERIES OVER. THE DETROIT FALCONS ARE YOUR FOUR STAR CUP CHAMPIONS. WHAT A PASS AND WHAT A SHOT. THE DETROIT FALCONS HAVE COMPLETED THE SWEEP OF THE MONTREAL MILITIA. THE CUP IS GOING TO DETROIT. Detroit players are jumping over the bench, piling up on Timmy Barlow. Congratulations to the Detroit Falcons. See you all next season! Inari Twain ![]() Carrying the Montreal offence this off season is Inari Twain. With 11 goals and 11 assists, he led the entire SMJHL in goals and assists in the playoffs. He was also 7th in hits with 24, had 2 game winning goals and added 8 blocked shots. 2. Maurizio Arrivabene ![]() Second place in points was Maurizio Arrivabene. He scored and passed equally, with 8 goals and 8 assists. He was 4th in shooting percentage and led the entire SMJHL in points per 20 minutes with 1.37 in the playoffs. 3. Vijanupatan Singh ![]() Right behind his Falcon teammate with 15 points, Singh had a stellar playoff himself. 6 goals and 9 assists and 3rd in goals per 20 minutes. Adding to that, he had 5 power play goals and 2 game winners. Singh was clutch. 4. Ryan Ritcher ![]() He may have only been in 5th in points among defensemen, he still put up respectable numbers with 10. However, he had a 41.67 shooting percentage and led the playoffs with 26 blocks. Ritcher did it all for the Falcons. 5. Evgueni Marmeladov ![]() Marmeladov proved doubters wrong in the playoffs. After an average regular season, he stood on his head in the playoffs. While his 3.01 goals against average would say otherwise, he still led the SMJHL in save percentage. He did his share for the Falcons. ![]() ACP Access S13, S15, S16, S25 Challenge Cup Champion
Task #1 -
The goalie series in which I chose was that of the Montreal Militia against the Colorado Mammoths. This series went the distance of 7 games with the Militia pulling out the Game 7 victory. The matchup for this series in goal was that of Aleksandr Aleksandrov of the Colorado Mammoths going up against Beaujeaux Biscuit of the Montreal Militia. Aleksandr Aleksandrov had a reasonably good series as he was 3-3-1 with a 2.82 goals against average and .897 save percentage. He also let up 20 goals against on 194 shots. This was a reasonable performance that kept the Colorado Mammoths in the series especially coming back from a 3-1 series deficit. Beaujeaux Biscuit on the other side of the ice had a 3.14 Goals against average in the series including giving up 7 goals in Game 2 against the Mammoths. Other than that, he consistently gave up 3 goals throughout the series. He gave up 22 goals in the series. In the playoffs, Beaujeaux Biscuit was 8-7-2 with a 3.47 Goals against average and .866 Save percentage. When looking at that, you can see that Aleksandr Aleksandrov had a better series and playoffs even though the Mammoths were eliminated in the first round. Quote:Words: 203 Task #2 - For the Playoffs MVP, I would have to choose Inari Twain of the Montreal Militia. When you look at what Inari Twain did in this playoffs, it truly is a great performance. He had 11 goals, 11 assists in 17 games for the Militia for a total of 22 points. In addition, he was a +3 to show that he was making an impact on the ice whenever he was out there. He had 24 hits, 58 shots which is almost 19% shot percentage. Just to add to it, 8 shot blocks which shows that he was an impact on all sides of the ice. Find another guy that had something like this, that is right, you cannot do that. He was out there for almost 23 minutes a game which I would not blame the Militia for doing. He also had 2 Game Winning goals. Is there something that Inari Twain did not do in the playoffs? I am really not sure how you try to have anyone else get it other than this guy. There was no one even close to Inari Twain in points as he was 6 points above the next person. He also led the playoffs in goals, assists, and points. Inari Twain, go claim your trophy, you deserve it. Quote:Words: 215 Task #3 - Here we are in Overtime of Game 7 between the Montreal Militia and the Colorado Mammoths. These two have had a fantastic series and it will come down to the next goal. Here we are in the Montreal Militia as there is a faceoff between Finn Larsson and Inari Twain. The puck is dropped as Finn Larsson wins the face-off against Inari Twain. The puck gets sent back to Wolf Von Hammersmark. Wolf Von Hammersmark quickly shoots off the draw... MISSES THE NET! It went just wide of the Militia net. The puck ends up in the corner as Connor Tanner picks up the puck. Inari Twain jets up the center of the zone for the break out as Tanner finds him! Twain then finds Jack Tanner as they make their way into the Colorado Mammoths zone. Tanner does a drop pass to Inari Twain who spots Alexander McKinley driving to the net! Tanner passes the puck cross ice... Alexander McKinley gets on the other side!! Aleksandr Aleksandrov sprawls over to try to make the save... THE PUCK IS IN! MONTREAL MILITIA WIN IN GAME 7!!! Alexander McKinley wins it for the Militia in Overtime. The Militia go crazy as they rush the ice and pile on the top of Alexander McKinley.
